Believe it or not, light skin is a relatively recent adaptation in terms of human existence. Not quite so recent as to explain the dark skinned guy in that picture, but still. Europeans didn’t get white until ~8000 years ago. Sometimes I wonder about what events we don’t really know about from pre-history. Back when different species of humans walked the Earth and interacted with each other, not unlike how we concieve of classic fantasy worlds having humanoid races that interact with one another. And yet today we’re pretty much just left with Homo Sapiens, granted we have a bunch of different flavors of them.
