the underlying rules of the universe are statistical, therefore determinism cannot be true. but, we are just bundles of chemical reactions, each caused by previous reactions and lead to new reactions and all of the causes that came before leave but a single option for every decision that occurs, therefore Free Will does not exist either.
the universe is chaos, and we are controlled by its ebb and flow, with no true control.
Yet you trust these chemical reactions to tell you that's all they are?
Nicholas Johnson
It could be argued that the soul, the sum of one's consciousness and awareness, being inherently unquantifiable yet undeniably present, exists beyond physicality, and given the soul's existance is proven by the fact that the eventual cyclic replacement of one's own anatomy doesn't result in the cessation of their consciousness, it could argued that free will does exist, in spite of a statistical universe, as the spiritual exists apart from the material.
The universe was proven not to be deterministic, in case you ever wondered why so many people cared about the wheel-chair guy who died a few days ago. Short answer? Black holes exist.
>cessation of their consciousness, happens every night.
Nicholas Thompson
yeah, the underlying rules are statistical, ergo not deterministic.
John Howard
The rules can be broken. That's what's important about black holes. Read the article. It's not even statistical.
Brandon Thomas
>the underlying rules of the universe are statistical, therefore determinism cannot be true this is retarded
this is possibly even more retarded.
Jaxon Perry
>this is retarded
explain your position. simply calling something stupid or incorrect does nothing for your argument.

only happens for a short while each night during REM sleep. most of the time you are much further from consciousness.

>Literally make a decision There, I demonstrated free will in action. All philisophical rigamarole is conpletely arbitrary when you are a walking example of that principle.
Look at you, choosing to spend time arguing that it wasnt a choice at all.
Blake Russell
>all of the causes that came before leave but a single option for every decision that occurs FALSE
If this were true it'd be definitive proof of determinism. There are an infinite number of options for every atomic and subatomic orientation in space and time.
Eli Moore
whoa bruh thats so hashtag #deep my fampai why don't you keep posting that totally not pretentious shit
Evan Adams
You're trying to sound smart citing ideas about physics that have been considered outdated for nearly a century now.

You get different regimens. QM is inherently probabilistic, but CM is rather deterministic. And even in CM you still get chaotic systems that, albeit deterministic, are impossible to predict because you need infinitely more precise initial conditions the further in time you want to predict.
Enjoy.
