Very nice. Slowly building/painting is probably the best start. I know I had lots of blank metal/resin in the beginning.

"Lady Aiyana & Master Holt
Aiyana & Holt were not only stepping on the toes of the Crucible Guard Infantry by proving magic weapons to other units, but their ability to stack even more damage increasing buffs in the Faction was proving to be problematic.
These models will not work for the Crucible Guard."
If you don't have CID access.
But beyond that, I think double alchemists is kind of weird. You might consider a unit of plain old infantry.

I keep wanting them to work so I keep putting them in lists. But I've mostly tested against legion which remove them trivially, which keeps making me want to put them in because, in my mind, they're "not showing their true potential"
Kevin Jackson
Looking good!
Warjack selection for Butcher2 has always been complicated for me. On the one hand, he has the potential to support them very well. On the other hand, he might end up with only 2 or 3 focus if he didn't do enough killing during his previous activation - which typically means you can't support your jacks at all.
I generally go with the following: a single good jack with reach, that you can dump focus on when you have it and also give Ravager. A Spriggan is decent for this purpose, but for the same price Ruin is incomparable. Free boundless charge and souls for those turns you can't expect focus is absolute money. MAT10 when you trigger conferred rage is nice as well. After that, a couple self-sufficient jacks like Berserkers and/or Marauders. These are good because they still have things to do when you can't spare the focus, but are also P+S19 brawlers with Fury up. Finally, if you can afford it, a Rager is really nice. Butcher2 tends to take risks and play the frontline, so a dedicated shield guard is very helpful.
Brandon Parker
Have there been any major changes in the storyline so far?

What's the best way to do power attacks with Cryx, just the slayer? I feel like using slams or throws to knock down enemy shit would be a very good idea with my cryx.
Ayden Hill
Like what do you mean, just using slams? Slams are good for scenario control, so pair some Slayers with a caster who can amplify that with more movement / position control shenanigans.
I don't remember but about Cryx but I think HorseShade is a good one
Jonathan Adams
Do they actually have the Llaelese keyword? I don't think most of the Crucible stuff does.
Jace Collins
Because Vinter backstabbed the shit out of him, even after all his loyalty.
Sebastian Clark
If you take them in the Llaelese Resistance theme they gain it.
Owen Miller
It's honestly one of the dumbest things Vinter has ever done, and shows how short sighted he ultimately was.
Not only did he fuck over easily one of his most loyal and capable followers, but in doing so he also ended up spilling the beans to the Skorne that he was going to fuck them over as well.
Landon Roberts
Does that theme get units from Cygnar and the Protectorate like it used to?
Daniel Reyes
Yea.
Either two units from Cygnar, PoM, or CG. No crossing over though, have to pick one faction.
Kevin Gomez
Skorne living !notzombies. Basically what happens to skorne if they are alone for to long they go mad and ghoul out
It has less to do with the helljack - any of the ones with two open fists will work - and more to do with the warcaster. Like said, positioning is the main thing. To that end, Mortenebra1 and Venethrax are probably your best bets. Out of activation movement, accuracy boosts, and free power attacks are the sorts of things you should be looking for.
Jason Morales
Yeah but my main "two fist" jacks are seethers, who need to charge all day every day and im 90% sure i cant even headbutt or throw at the end of a charge. Aiakos can give me a lot of speed and his white squall spell throws things himself.
I should really pick up a battle box so i can get a second slayer and a reaper.
Nathan Parker
As a Ret player, is Helynna my best/only option for running a decent “beep boop myrmidon smash” heavy jack list?
I’ve been imagining Hydras and Manticores punching shit into the ground during frustrating periods at work this week and I feel like I should go express that on the tabletop during my next day off before the escapism stops working.
Nope. Vyros2. Helynna really prefers Legions of Dawn.
Jack Stewart
Does Vyros2 Forges still operate well if I only have 5 heavies and 3 Griffons instead of a dozen of the latter? Though I might list-tinker something for Helynna in Legions anyway, I’ve got the units for it. Marshaled Hydras are a blast.
Jayden Gutierrez
Vyros 2 with all the sirens and 2 units of sentinals is a ball breaking list. Issyeria with a hyperion is also fun
Colton Morris
Wait, is it confirmed that Mord is Perma dead? I thouht it left open a small possibilty that he could come back.
Nolan Hernandez
I honestly have no idea about this mordikaar stuff but through Toruk, anything is possible. They could probably put his soul in a jar and make him into some cryx bullshit.
Actually cant Skorne do that too? Don't they put people's souls in crap?
Easton Davis
Skorne are able to put souls into special rocks found in the desert yes. However Mordikaar is special because he was able to return to life through pure force of will.
Still, if i remeber corectly he was eaten by an avatar of the devourer worm. So theres that...
Zachary Clark
Right, so does the devourer wurm seek to destroy the afterlife or eat souls or anything? Because if not put Mordikaar in one of those statues next to skornelady3 and call it a day.
Grayson Rodriguez
I feel like Mordikaar would never be made into one of the Exalted. Isn't he kind of a heretic when it comes to the extoller caste's work?
Caleb Parker
Technically it was zaal who was the heretic, mordikaar was trying to figure out how the first 3 skorne exalted themselves and figured out all that exalting crap. Apparently he died and then "came back" somehow but now had a friendly hole in the fabric of reality with him that the avatar of destruction poped thru.
Im hoping for giant angry void spirit of rage mordikaar 2.
Nathan Nelson
Heretic doesn't exactly describe Mord correctly.
Mord was essentially impossible. His very existence violated centuries of Skorne's arcane lore.
Michael Jackson
I kinda want to see a heretical Skorne theme list, with shit like Void Spirits and genzhoul, stuff that only the fringes of the military would dare thinking of using.
Problem I can see is the limits that'd have to go on it to keep it true to fluff, if that even matters any more. You'd end up limited on which casters would fit.
Carter Cruz
>Rasheth2 riding a turtle when?
Dylan Roberts
Seems to me as though that's exactly the sort of thing that the Extollers would brand as heresy. Even if Mordikaar doesn't violate the spirit of the Self-Exalted Trinity's work, his very existence calls the modern practice of Exaltation into doubt. I have to imagine the Extoller caste would have a serious problem with that.
Asher Phillips
Oh, I'm not claiming he's not a heretic, or that they don't call him as such.
But what he's done, and what he is, just goes beyond the title of heretic.
Others have attempted it as well, but he's the only one who's ever managed it, and how it was done is a mystery.
Still, they killed him. So now we only have Skorne Budda.
Grayson Collins
I doubt Mordi is permadead. It was way too ambiguous an ending for a character whose backstory already includes dying and literally willing himself back into existence.
What I'm hoping though is that he comes back as some sort of devourer ghost working for Circle.
Luke Martinez
The only problem with Mordikaar from a Skorne perspective is that warriors would lose the will to fight if they were all suddenly saved from the void. Of course, this could be avoided by prohibiting the reincarnation technique to those worthy of exaltation to begin with.
Besides, in the fluff I'm pretty sure Zaal himself tried to help Mordikaar when he was being ambushed by Mohsar so the extollers clearly don't want him dead.
>So now we only have Skorne Budda Skorne Buddha is a useless fuck in both tabletop and fluff. Nigger came out of nowhere and was powerful enough for Hexeris to instantly respect him, then he almost got himself killed in a fight and fucked off to nowhere for "muh meditation". I'd care more if his model had playable rules.
Carson Ross
Fuggin radical
Connor Jackson
Naaresh is quite playable, actually.
DoA gave him everything he wanted. The mistake is to think of him as some kind of assassin, he's meant to be a bully.
Connor Brooks
There's no a lot the Skorne fear, but what they do is fucking terrifying.
Carson Reyes
Huh, I missed that part. I thought they just got added as mercs, not with the Llaelese keyword too.
Hudson Collins
Honestly, at this point it would be nice to just fold the Llaelese resistance models into Crucible Guard if they want to stop really having Mercs as a full on faction and go with the subfaction stuff.
Aiden Bailey
>DoA gave him everything he wanted It gave him a spell list?
Brody Brown
I'm not much of a Hordes player, are there any beasts that give attack spells or is it all self-buffs? I don't think I've ever seen much but buffs coming from beasts on the other side of the table.
Ian Martin
A lot of it is self cast buffs. Most of the buffs that can target something else aren't very good.
Henry Williams
He's got a spell list.
Blur is roughly comparable to old Iron Flesh, and works great on an Archidon.
Lamentations is far better now that it works on warbeasts and he often has terrain to hide behind.
Wind Rush is excellent on him, especially in the context of Sprint.
Henry Price
Thanks. I wasn't sure if there was an elemental troll or something that can actually shoot fireballs.
Leo Lee
>Blur In DoA it has no targets. Nihilators are a pretty bad unit honestly. This isn't Mk2 where you can assume your opponent will be playing masses of infantry. Your only other target is Bloodrunners who have stealth anyway. >Lamentation Has the same problem as Makeda1's Carnage; FURY6. It's fine but it's not a spell that makes a caster instantly amazing. Considering he's not very tanky it's not like he can be so far forwards that your opponent's caster can't just step backwards and cast their spells. >Wind Rush What?
Zachary Lopez
>Everyone gangs up on Khador
Life in service to the motherland is hard. Is Legion still ransacking the Khador countryside as well?
Adam Jackson
I gave examples for those two spells, you should try and answer them.
And I meant Cyclone. Getting the names all mixed up.
Nathaniel Cook
Well, you sorta ARE inside someone else's country. It's not really surprising.
Ethan Ortiz
Blur on an Archidon is pretty pointless because they can either ignore it or just tie it up in melee. A flat +2DEF is much better because you can just throw it on Nihilators and run in. I believe I already explained why Lamentation on him isn't great. Cyclone is pretty terrible on a model that's not powerful enough to get shit done on his own. What is he achieving by moving around the board like that? He can't contest, there's not many things he can score in that aren't already being scored in or contested by something else most of the time, and even then if he moves around too much you just get control range issues.
In a recent podcast (Tactical Tips, episode 2), Tom Guan (see: probably the best player in the world) outright stated that the entire Skorne faction is turtles, and everything that is not a turtle is unplayable unless it supports turtles or holds its own while turtles rip everything to pieces. Naaresh does nothing for turtles, therefore he is bad.
Jack Stewart
Wow a top competitive player in *thing* said a hyperbolic thing about *controversial thing in community*? Stop the presses.
Austin Hughes
It correlates pretty well with the results Skorne has been having in noteworthy tournaments. Everyone is bringing turtles in at least one list, and the non-turtle list is usually just there to scare people. Just look at the top 3 Skorne players at the OTC:
>Rasheth turtles + Zaadesh turtles >Zaadesh turtles + Xerxis1 exalted >Rasheth turtles + Morghoul2 playing as few Skorne models as possible
It's even funnier when you learn that Rasheth turtles had a 75% win rate, and Zaadesh turtles had an 80% win rate.
Nothing else in Skorne is getting results anywhere dude. Naaresh wants to spam beasts. Why wouldn't you just play Zaadesh and do the same but better?
Jose Sanders
>Blur on an Archidon is pretty pointless because they can either ignore it or just tie it up in melee
What the fuck does this even mean? If it's contesting a zone they can't ignore it, and if they jam it up you can just kill the shit that they're jamming with. Why would they even jam an Archidon?
> I believe I already explained why Lamentation on him isn't great.
And I explained how to deal with the Fury6 problem. Sitting in the center of the table, Naaresh can cover quite a bit of space, even on Fury 6. That's 24" of table space.
It lets him cover an assload of space. With Cyclone, you can put yourself front and center to bully them turn two, and if they decide to ignore a flag on a flank, you can cyclone over there and be safe on a flag. You can late game get to some pretty weird spots to avoid assassinations, and you can threaten pieces when there's a lot fewer models on the table.
It lets him, for example, move up, kill models contesting his flag, and then cyclone back to the flag to continue to score.
Logan Baker
Guys, how do I make a Call of the Wild theme force work? Circle's living warbeasts are just not that good. You'd think that PP would be eager to buff them since they released the new theme force.
Gavin Wilson
What caster you trying to work with?
Eli Morgan
So how do you play Skorne without the turtles?
Ayden Richardson
Makeda2 cats, Zaal2 Immortals would be other fairly metal lists that do well without the turtles.
For my own part, I've been doing pretty well with this.
Swarm Horrors love the feat super hard, given Impervious Flesh, and they take super well to feat + PGBHs + Primal. The Ironback is a great beast with him, since it packs a gun he likes while still being great in melee. Counterblast + Ret strike means it's actually pretty effective if your opponent has to get into it's 1" on feat, two POW18 bites can do wonders.

Thoughts? All the heavies advance move, run turn 1 and pop feat for a second turn 1 run, taking the countercharging heavies all up to 34" up the table if you go first, the rest of the list is for securing zones
Nathan Campbell
I disagree with most of that. First of all I think the power level of our casters is extremely flat excluding Rasheth at the top and a few guys like Xekaar at the bottom. Secondly, both Makeda1 and Makeda2 have other viable builds beyond catspam. Mak2 can go with a bunch of Swordsmen and Mak1 works in IWH.
As to MoW, that list works well with at least 50% of our casters. I think Zaadesh2, Xerxis1, Mordikaar, Morghoul2/3 are equal to Mak2 in power here, but of course work differently. And Hexy1/2 and Jalaam are also worthy of consideration. It all depends on what kind of list you need.
Michael Martin
>Mordikaar LUL
"I hope my opponent is fielding lots of living infantry and doesn't have any armour that needs cracking": the Caster
I've never seen or heard of anyone performing well with him. Never even seen him in a battle report. All I hear is people telling me I need to gid gud with him. And if you even dare say 9 Archidons Essence Blast spam I'll just direct you to the rule book and tell you it doesn't work.
Jose Myers
It does work, but that list is a gimmick and I don't play gimmick lists. As to armor cracking, I played it into full on Khador jack spam and it came up just short. So anything less than that should be fine. His toolbox is nice. Nothing in it is massively powerful, but he has a spell for every situation.
Jayden Ortiz
>It does work Essence Blast is an attack.
The Archidons are removed from play by Essence Blast.
The Archidons have been removed from play by an attack.
The rulebook states nothing about the friendly being being targeted or hit by the attack, simply that you cannot reave from a friendly beast destroyed or removed from play by an attack.
Therefore you cannot reave from the Archidons.
And what spell did Mordikaar have against Khador jack spam?
Zachary King
I don't know if an official answer to this question was ever put out by PP, which is distressing because it determines whether or not Mordikaar has a compelling spell assassination.
On the one hand, it is a spell with the OFF category and the rules seem quite explicit that an OFF spell is considered an attack, which would mean a model RFP'd by any part of the spell would be RFP'd as the result of an attack.
On the other hand, the language in Essence Blast instructs you to "Choose" the point of origin for the spell and to my knowledge all other types of effects that are automatically applied to a model you "Choose" (Electro Leap, etc.) are never considered attacks.
Dunno. Surprised this hasn't come up in a tournament or something and required PP to weigh in decisively.
Leo Ross
>Essence Blast is an attack.
>The Archidons are removed from play by Essence Blast.
>The Archidons have been removed from play by an attack.
Technically no on your point #2 onwards, a consequence of the "after the spell is resolved" phrasing in the actual spell text. For your interpretation to apply, they're going to have to rephrase the spell to include "the chosen model is considered to have been removed from play by a friendly attack".
Kayden Hernandez
I feel like Feora2 might be the worst warnoun in the game. Not purely in the sense of being weak (tho she does suck) but because she hits the trifecta of being ineffective, being redundant in her faction, and being uninteresting to play.
