Have you tried ?

because 90% of pictures of elves is either cheesecake or straight up porn

Or you just suck at looking for good art.

Dude, try finding pictures of female fantasy characters who aren't sexualized, or anyone in realistic medieval clothing. Elves in armor are easy.

They're pigeonholed into either "speedy" or "magicky" roles.

Real talk, dig around FFXIV art.

Elves.

Not giraffes.

High elves art of most settings usually are armored

There's not a lot of good art of male Elves in general.
Check out my Pintrest of Elves
Its mostly sexy elf maidens though...

I know Veeky Forums like ragging on Games Workshop a lot, but Warhammer had some of the better armoured elves around,.

>female fantasy characters who aren't sexualized
But by their nature as a sexual species females are inherently sexualized

>Why is it so hard to find pictures about elves in heavy armor?

just use regular art and pretend every helmet hides a pair of pointy ears

Because sissy pansy prissy pants can't handle a real man's armor.
Also they're whole shtick now is high speed low drag because orcs are now high drag low speed.

Nah.

They're behind the wings, user.

Nah. No holes for sound. Wouldn't make sense for taking away an advantage you learn to love when you're a little restricted in movement and can't see as well.

their ears aren't that big, and even if they are, they can wrap around the back of the head

You ever wear a helmet? Shit bruises and calliflowers ears just by wearing it and that's human ears. Now make them pointed and extra long and expect them to get mashed between your skull and helmet with force.
Guys a human elf armor would have to have some allowance or protuberence for their ears to some degree otherwise they'll lose them after the blood gets cut of either from a proper fit or from getting mashed during a blow then swelling. Even if it's just the "human sized but pointy" ears.

Death to all albinos!

elves are best when they take advantage of their dex and perception; if they're running around in tin cans they're gonna suffer

I like this pic a lot.

Attached: high elves cover.jpg (2085x3000, 5.04M)

No. See that helmet? It can fit over or around or ontop of the ears different because it's a fucking bowl. It doesn't have to fit as tightly because you don't have to worry about things like vulnerable gaps because you're restricted now or the eye slits moving so you have to stop and adjust shit if it's not a proper tight fit.
If it was full on plate all the way up to the neck with that helmet it'd be cool. If it had a bucket helm then it would guaranteed need holes or that's just a dead man walking because there won't be anybody around to amputate ears as needed mid battle for fear of sepsis.
Either elves need pre-amped ears, non-bucket style helmets, or modified bucket helmets.

wut

Imagine running through foliage in this bullshit

That's a wood elf you're thinking of, dude in the OP pic is clearly a high elf.

Nobody dislikes dark elves or fantasy dark elves, but everyone hates their other elves.

Right cause there is no conceivable situation where the elf in the pic fights in anywhere where foliage exists. Fuck- even a druid with a simple entangle or some lame ass peasant with a net- elves are stupid, knife ear scum

Attached: 909e99c37c9818bbc52efff20feee26b--the-five-fantasy-creatures.jpg (550x807, 80K)

You're right because that elf is on a icy mountain. Keep up user.

For a proper fit of a great helmet the side fit needs to be a bit tight. This is facilitated by layers of cloth and sometimes mail but it needs to be fairly tight. If it was any different the helmet would get twisted or siddle down when you move or get knocked on. If your vision is just narrow slits a bit In front of your eyes you want them right where they are and to never fucking move or you're basically blind. This mashes your ears something fierce and I've seen dedicated folk with cauliflower ears just from wearing them.
That's just for normal sized ears. Now imagine what kind of pressure an elf sized ear would feel even if it wasn't WoW sized elf ears.
That helmet that fingolfin is wearing sits just on his head and has "fins" that come down and protect his cheeks and face. It doesn't suffer the issues mentioned above because the ears can be free in a shaped cut made just for them where the metal sits above where they lay.

>expect them to get mashed between your skull and helmet with force.
>wearing just the helmet with nothing underneath

>what are alpine forests for 10 points?

Do you see trees user?

Those are 2 different helmets. Look at the picture you can clearly see where not only his hair but possible even one of his ears is coming out of the cuts mentioned here He's right though that's a rocky ass mountain and that fuck is wearing boots that have a giant spike bit jutting out a good 6" from his foot for him to trip on or catch on the individual rocks.

The artist who painted the picture clearly sheltered below a pine tree grognard

made me think of this pic
is there any downside to this helmet?
I dont mean for elves

Attached: best visor.jpg (510x650, 36K)

Please see
That helps keep shit snug as well as mildly cushioned but let me tell you they feel like they do nothing but stop the metal from scraping your skin off.

Also yes; bottom left- duh

> user, thinking he is so smart, tries to entangle the elf in OPs pick with a net.
> "Surely, my cleverness will make this fight a piece of cake! I'll show that elf who is the superior being."
> The elf, using his dexterity and the fact that his armor is covered in elf forged blades, simply twists and slices through the next without breaking pace, destroying the next in under a second and skewering user with the spear.
> user somehow forgot that Elves are objectively better than humans on an individual level

Rule of thumb: whenever you presume that a fantasy race should be instantly BTFO by modern cleverness, the odds are in favor that your 'modern cleverness' doesn't apply specifically because it is a fantasy race with abilities and context that make your assumptions false.

no no, that was just a pic of an elf helmet that is widely known, it wasnt a response to his comment

>Applying human limitations to an elf

Lack of neck mobility and structural integrity where the cutouts are. If I'm reading the proper article it was a tournament helm so these shouldn't be that big of an issue.

You mena besides all the ladies getting hot an bothered for you?

The preforated "face" area looks like it would be rather weak to high force impacts and could den't it into your face/skull.
But that's just me on the looks, there are crafting techniques to avoid that.

Ah yes! Sharp armour- so you can never have it fitted quickly by your brethren, so you can never stand in close formation with them, so your medic cant strip your armour after being wounded...

Wouldn't last one minute in the deepholds, probably gets sick off beer too

Its a solid helmet design, protection wise. It wont help much against a warhammer to the face, but very little does so that's hardly a point against it.

Its main downsides are restrictions. Its going to be expensive and time consuming to make, so you cant make that the standard armor for your troops. Its going to be heavier than many types of helmet, and that's not insignificant.

The biggest problem is that you cannot turn your head while wearing it. Look at how far the armor collar goes. You can turn your head INSIDE the helmet slightly back and forth, but to look to your side or behind you? You need to physically move your entire upper body.

You can plan around that. Put this guy in a shield wall where he is expected to be protected on his flanks and he is fine. But if he has to worry about attacks from multiple directions he is going to be really easy to surprise.

Great now I'm imagining styrofoam sections just being shoved onto an elf at elf speeds until all that remains is a cardboard box ready to be shipped to the frontlines.
Tap 3 times then take off the cardboard and shipping tape then watch as they take their own child friendly safety squares off their own sharp metal edges before charging into battle.
Pranksters sometimes send 7'x4'x4' glitter bombs instead of edgy elves.

>Ah yes! Sharp armour- so you can never have it fitted quickly by your brethren, so you can never stand in close formation with them, so your medic cant strip your armour after being wounded...

You are, once again, making assumptions based on HUMAN coordination and ability. Elves have superhuman dex. These are the sort of people that can pluck an arrow out of the air with their bare hands, nock, it, and fire it back as easily as drawing from their own quiver.

An elf is as likely to accidently cut themselves putting on blade-covered armor as a human is to accidently step poke their own eye out while eating. Its physically possible, yes, but its so unlikely it would be considered a freak accident or an act of incredible stupidity.

Stop assuming elves are humans with pointy ears.

That's a human. Mtg art.

nice opinion
im seeing length and lack of girth, as well as a helmet that seems slightly elongated
I say it's an elf

Stop assuming I'm a human you beardless whelp

Alright, 1/2 human. Are you happy?

Not my fault you're retarded.

Im a pretty avid DE player both in aos and 40k and high elves are fucking fantastic looking. eldar are meh

I think Dark Eldar look better for the most part, but Eldar still look great. Suffer a bit on the tabletop due to their models being so dated though.
