/40krpg/ Glorious Winged Faggot Edition

I made the thread this time, user

Ulisses-Spiel, very well known in Germany. It's set post Gathering Storm, uses a Shadowrun-esque D6 dice pool, and is a unified line with Marines, Humans, and Xenos all playable in the core book.

Book Repositories (If you're planning to download any Rogue Trader materials, read the .txt file in the RT directory)
mega.nz/#F!Pl0UgbJa!vDtTXMKnvZ26fUbuw4X9tg

There is a new Homebrew Megafolder option in above MEGA directory containing several things.

40K RPG tools, a site that contains stats or references for almost all weapons, armor and NPCs/adversaries. Not updated past DH2 core.
40krpgtools.com/

40k RPG Combined Armory (v6.48.161023), containing every piece of gear in all five lines. Now includes all DH2e books.

Arbites and assassin (melee)

Speaking of 40krpgs:
I'll be running a Gold Experience Requiem campaign starting at April 1st. Game will be run weekly on sundays at 1PM GMT, which, depending on the players, may be adjusted to +\- two hours. We will be using roll20 as a platform, and discord for comms.
It's gonna be a combat-focused game, with some room for unorthodox problems and negotiations.

The more I learn about WanG, the less I like about it.

Don't you like d6 pools?! And the initiative mechanic?!

Have anyone played Mars Needs Women? Is it good and what problems does it have?

The initiative mechanic has raised a LOT of questions that need answers, and those answers may make or break the game.

As for dice pools. Not a huge fan myself, but I don't hate them, but being able to shift successes around for different bonuses could be interesting if utilized properly, I'd like to see characters with different abilities be able to use their extra successes in different ways. Actually if this game has any depth at all it will all be in character creation by the looks of it.

That said I don't really have too much hope for it.

Any good tools for making 40k battle maps?

This thread reminds me of that one time people used to talk about exalted.

Here's a code for some vidya game
Enjoy

Is there any way to make civilian power armor run indefinitely like Astartes stuff?

It's based off the tabletop, or what was tabletop at the time the book was released. It's the same as most of shas's other books - fine-tuned internal balance within the book, everything inside being roughly equal power level, but much higher power level than anything outside it because the tabletop skyrocketed in power. That said, I've used some weapons and vehicles in there in my own game, and I didn't notice anything glaring OP.

Militart-grade powerpack. It's specified that the small powerpack is only a standart one, everything higher-up would be much better. Also Ignatus-pattern's powerpack works for a week of intense combat action. And that's the internal one. If you use a sororita's armor power pack, then it would make for an infinite energy supply, but will function the same way as the astartes one (damage the powerpack-armor is depowered).

So everything there is mostly straight-up better than Only War's core options?

>Militart-grade powerpack.

Thanks. Which book is this in?

Page 145 of core. It's not present on-paper, but is mentioned. Regarding the sororita fusing generator powerpack refer to p118 of Blood of Martyrs

Thanks

Not to a crazy extent, but since they're admech they tend to get tech and finesse aptitudes a lot easier, so they can get shooty and tech talents faster than most. As I said, I used weapons and gear in my own game, mainly the arc and radium weapons, and the plasma weapon specialist is running circles around them.

The weapons and gear are weird and bizarre, but they fit the feel of the admech, and it's very comprehensive.

>i'm thinking about presenting my party to a custodian on a quest

Should I make them roll to resist a religious induced seizure?

Transhuman dread would apply, yeah

now comes the slog

BTW, will there be any anti-tank options for infantry custodes, or will they have to rely on their tanks?

Pyrithite and Adrasite spears are in, the former incorporating melta and all that entails, the latter adrathic weapons with Armorbane. Infantry squads will need to get in close without armored support.

Cool, would switch up the normal deathwatch routine of just blowing shit up from afar

Fancy easter eggs!

What is the most unexpected, but still in-character thing you've ever seen your party do?

How do I convince 5efags to play a 40K RPG?

What supplements / fan books allow you to play as filthy xenos?

How do I play jojo in a 40k RPG

Rogue Trader books.

Why? What dont you like?

Dungeon painter

Be a psyker

I'll be joining a Rogue trader campaign soonish, and am considering playing a Kroot merc. I haven't played any 40k RPG in a while (though I have played Dark Heresy, Rogue trader, and Deathwatch in the past), and have never played a Kroot. Given a cursory glance at the career path, I'm thinking of specializing in stealth and melee combat and becoming a sort-of assassin.

Is such a thing viable? Is there anything I should know before attempting this?

You'll be hated by all imperial organizations and your very presence on the ship causes a morale loss.

We're operating outside the Imperium mostly (though humies still hate me). The moreale thing is an issue, but the GM has said that it might go away after a while if the majority of the crew start to trust me.

>Majority
I can't imagine how long that would take with the crew sizes of imperial ships.

Probably longer than the campaign will last unless I end up saving the captain from the jaws of death or some shit.

Maybe I should ask a more pertinent mechanical question: if I choose the Stalker kindred for my Kroot, I can make concealment and silent move tests as free actions, even while being observed. Am I correct in assuming that if I make a successful concealment test in combat, my target is considered unaware (and therefore I get a +30 on my WS test to shank him)?

I would say yes, but the enemy would also be able to take awareness checks to detect you too. Ask your GM if your tactic works by their rules.

I think concealment is an opposed test with awareness, so by successful test I meant beating the opposed roll. But I'll check with the GM before attempting this cheese.

Most of the crew are functionally irrelevant, anyway. They're people bound to clans whose existence is tied to a function within the ship, without regard for who is in charge.

I’m going to GM Rogue Trader for the first time soon. But I have no experience in either playing or running it. So are there any tips and help that could aid me in GM-ing rogue trader?

I would start with a premade adventure before attempting to write your own, just to get a handle on things. Rogue trader is very high powered - nuke the site from orbit is a valid solution to many problems in it, and your players explicitly have so much money they only ever keep track of it in abstract terms. so challenges and rewards are going to be a bit different than in other systems.

Should I just run one directly from the core rulebook as a session 0 kind of thing to get me and the PC’s oriented and familiar with the system?

Also how do I go about adding planets and warp routes to a sector if the players happen to stumble upon a new planet/location

May as well, that's what it's there for.

Maybe they find a wreck of a ship or a ruin on a planet surface with an obscure star chart that shows unmapped planets or unknown warp corridors.

other than desperado's move and shoot and the MIU, there's no way to split movement right? Like you can't use a half move action, move half you AgB, use a half action to attack, then move the remainder of your AgB, right? Also in Dark Heresy 2nd edition it never really specifies what close combat is, but that's just being within melee range, correct?
Sorry if these questions get asked to death, I just started and couldn't find this information online anywhere.

Assassin strike lets you move at half-rate after attacking. So there's that.

I haven't played DH2, so I can't comment on that.

Tables for generating that stuff are in "Stars of Inequity", which also covers the mechanics of setting up colonies.

I’ve been skimming through some of the RT books, and I think that the adventure “Whispers in the Storm” would work as a good starter mission. Does anyone have any experience in running it?

Close combat is when someone throws a WS check at you, or you do the same. Otherwise point blank would automatically put most of the creatures and characters in melee, which is not the case. So if a character does a full move to stand in front of the enemy with a gun, then he's just providing a chance for the enemy to shoot at him at point blank.

How do techpriests sleep and bathe?

Like normal people?

I seem to recall at least one novel where a high-ranking tech-priest was submerging himself in oil as a sort of bath. With being more machine than man, you need to clean and lubricate the moving parts somehow.

So, my Princes of Karybdis game has gone on hiatus for a few months because Larkin Whoresons player is being worked half to death by his employer. So, I've got more time to work on the next update of the Karybdis Abyss and since you fags are the only other people that read my autism I decided to ask you guys what would the most interesting things to elaborate on.

Current to do list:
- Adventure seeds
- Elaborate Eugenics Lords description
- Move maps to planets chapter
- Void whaling explanation, short
- Squat Void Whaling guilds power block
- Elaborate Thebsoom
- More timeline entries/Move timeline forward to 800.M41?
- Elaborate individual black sword descriptions
- More artifacts (Haupsburg Starmap, Drakthun artifacts, Orb of Locke Navarre)
- More exotic worlds (Veda, Surt, Khoss, Deep Fathom current WIPS)
- Abhumans chapter?

Which of these would be the most interesting things to focus on for the next update?

Maps would be great, desu

>tfw the checkmark symbol I added to show that it was done doesn't show
God damn it Veeky Forums.
Either way, posting the most current maps that will now be included in the document.

And without warp-lanes

Also added "The Imperial Cult in Karybdis" to the to do list after I made that post.

Good shit, my dude

Keep in mind that those maps have the WIP worlds Deep Fathom, Kaap, Veda, Surt and Khoss and are not part of the 1.5.0 release.

How did you make that map? I'm starting my own game of RT soon, and I was thinking of using this template. But after seeing your map, the one that I got feels a bit bland I guess

Attached: 40k Sector template.png (1311x1090, 43K)

mediafire.com/file/eaga3g853m8fa4d/Sector map making.rar
That's the template for photoshop. The background is a mix of several different nebulas found through google. Your base isn't bad though, very easily legible and the legend is in a place that doesn't cover part of the actual map.

In which RT book can I find Dark Eldar?

Playable ones? The Soul Reaver (kabalite warrior career) and The Dark Kin web supplement (wych career, alternative ranks).
NPCs? Most probably The Soul Reaver again.

Anyone done Sisters of Silence as NPCs? How would you go about stating them

Shas is doing it. Will be done after custodes I assume

There's a set in GBAL. Probably they're getting refined soon.

Start with blanks

> Rogue Trader PCs manage to piss off 2 hereteks who were warring over xenos tech by double crossing them and stealing said xenos tech for themselves
> Have to now stat them
> Takes entire day of brainstorming and coming up with shit
> One heretek wants to use warp fuckery and experiment on people for science and to become a god
> The other will spread aids and steal the souls of people on a planet all because one person gave his criticisms on his projects
> Finish and realize I basically ended up making the most stand offish Toku hereteks with autism

Welp guys, seems like Dan and Ryoma from Kamen Riders will be the 2 recurring villains for my campaign.

Those two sound like they could use the advanced archtypes in black crusade.

That's what I'm thinking. Now the question is, how campy and over the top can I make these guys who counter a group who hunt animal species to extinction to fuel their need for flamboyant fashion and entrances.

Any general idea of the Wrath and Glory release date?

I'm itching to run 40k to break up my groups normal routine but I feel that it may be easier to introduce them to the universe with (and be easier for them to play with) than some of the older ones.

probably do a Rogue Trader campaign

One thing you should consider is how they're getting from place to place, if they have their own ships or if they hitch a ride.

They'd have their own rides.

One idea is that they'll stalk them and attack at an opportune moment or supply tech/info to other parties that hate them.

June quick play, august full game.

Sweet, not all too long a wait then, relatively speaking.

How mechanical are low rank techpriests anyway? Our two can never decide.

Hey, I got a quick question for you guys. It's probably a noob question but I looked everywhere in the core rulebook but I haven't found it. In FFG Rogue Trader what is the modifier for multiple of one item? Like say for instance one of my players wants 5 frag grenades, I can easily follow the chart to give him one but what about 5?

I think it is in the profit factor chapter.

Each level of the scale indicates a maximum quantity.
If it's more than the amount listed at one availability level, go to the next level.

Page 272

He only has to get one. Then he just considered to have a steady supply of grenades on the base.

I'm not the GM in an Only War campaign but we have a player whos
>thatguy

And Jesus Christ I can't stand his special snowflake regiment and fucking planet I want to cut my ears off when he's talking. He has done nothing but fuck up the plot, kill a shit load of our men, and he actually, I swear to god mutes and deafens when his mary sue characters aren't in the forefront. He just comes back and goes "What did I miss".

I don't know why our GM puts up with him, we've all had it up to here with his shit.

What, you actually use the mixed regiment rules?

He started with a platoon of his troopers. So the GM let him use his regimental equipment and whatnot. My character is from a different planet/regiment aswell, but he was rolled into the present campaign using loose "mixed" regimental rules. I use their equipment but also get a chance to get my own stuff at a higher chance due to my native brothers are on the planet as well.
To make a long story short, these people don't have native medics due to shit technology and that's why I was attached.

Despite him starting with a platoon, he has had all but one of his men die. He has friendly fire killed more of us then the enemy has killed.

Take Picts and report him to the commissar, simple as that

Attached: 554A071C-B0B8-4AFE-A3F8-B933B32E9CF2.jpg (760x876, 207K)

The backwater shit hole we're on doesn't have picts and we're under siege. I just wanted to vent for a hot second.

I killed one of his men anyway failing a medical test

Suggest to your high command that his platoon could attempt to retake some ground in the name of the Emperor since they are so valiantly devoted to his divine teachings

A good plan, we were thinking of something like it ourselves. But we're not sure how the rest of this guys regiment is doing since we're behind enemy lines and surrounded. Despite getting a platoon of men killed by stupid actions he still thinks he'll get to command the whole regiment during this only war campaign. Which is absolutely dumb and i hope to god it doesn't happen.
His only character left is "affectionately" called "retard radio" OOC.

What are some fun and creative ways to use a daemonhost in black crusade?

Make it do accounting

Mass producing custodes armour just feels wrong.

No, that looks fine.
