It's the JRPG eight-wheel, most of my early fantasy was final fantasy. Fluffed it as ice being about slowing things down an carefully controlling things while lightning is high-energy, way of least resistance to your goal.

If you feel like you have something to gain from it (e.g. experience in CYOA-making), then go right ahead.
No particular preference on either of the two ideas (or the combination as suggested) - at least when presented in as abstract a manner as you did - but you seem to have a better idea for the latter, so maybe try that (or the aforementioned combination).

First one sounds a bit easier, as once you get a narrator like that its generally easier to keep finding things to write.

It could rip off the waifu part from Waifu Hatred, and how it's presented, that'd be easy. I.e. your neighbor Elfina who keeps dancing naked in front of the window pointing towards your house, or the "old" elf that asks you to sit with her then offers you to lay your head in her lap.
