I've used multiple different sizes. 12mm is pretty good, don't get 16mm. Used these really REALLY tiny dice because they looked cool but the novelty wore off. Also have some apocalypse dice which are just fun to roll.
Bigger dice feel better but are harder to roll.

I'm super poor but I want to get into warham with a budget, and since the only army I care about (sisters of battle) is outdated as fuck I don't think it's even worth it to try and get the originals. Are paper minis kinda like pic related acceptable for this game like they are in RPGs or is there something quintessentially important to the official minis that I wouldn't be able to get out of paper minis?

I like John Blanche but sculpting a model directly from his art as a reference without adapting it is pure retardery.
You're thinking of it the other way around. Enforcer is the standard Commander model, XV8 Commander is for those who were using old Commander models or proxying Crisis as Commanders. 4 pts, 1 wound and the option for Iridium is literally all the difference there is.
