I was going to complain about /pol/, but then I remembered this was another magical realm thread so nothing of value has been lost.

Might as well talk about it - it seems like every game I end up in, across groups and players, someone ends up using mind control magic or something along those lines. GMs love it because it can create a creatively dangerous encounter that can allow some PvP, and players love it because it allows them control over NPCs and gets them out of tight situations, or makes a strange class or race a little more interesting.

And here I am sitting there with a mind control fetish and trying my damn hardest to hide it when the GM talks about our entire party feeling happy and completely relaxed while in this sorceress's tower, or when a warlock commandingly tells a barbarian woman to halt mid-charge, or a player uses charm person to convince another player that they're friends and it feels right to help their 'friend' with their plan. I don't want to be the weird guy at the table, but it's like someone's waving porn in my face every game and I don't know what to do.
