err, against non-optimized lists, the PACT does exceptionally well on the table, they just look like utter shit on paper, so WAAC players have 0 fuckign problem.
also, i found the ultimate chaotic platoon just to spice up the thread....
want to see? it does use the v3 German Kampfgruppe, so it's not that great
Ryder Wilson
eh, fukkit.
>want wierd?
>Fortress Italy, v3 >HG Schwere Aufklarungs >take normie Auf' HQ >Take 3 Motorcycle Panzerschreckts (good luck w' models!) >KAMPFGRUPPE > --take 1 squad w' Pioneer Sdkfz251 and Goliath (flammen?) > --take 2 Wespes > --take 1 Sdkfz 222 >2iC is joined by all three motorcycles >platoon has 2 Artie Monsters, and almost 1 of each kind of team. with Goliath and Bikers.
Imagine if Battlefront did this but also included limited edition objective markers and small terrain pieces, like the old Sturmtiger box used to have.
>15mm > War of 1812 Americans are the best > You need a minimum of 1000 figures for the average game > Russians need 3000 minimum > All in *soft flexible plastic*

Cynical me says these army box options will be as rare as hens teeth, but not bad all the same.
I ain't giving up my marders though sadly
Austin Adams
Also how abouts that forum closure, just as facebook gets JUST'ed
Its like poetry

Hi, I am new to FoW and 4th-ed and have a question about adding two forces together. I wana play the german .512 2nd company from Bridge at Remagen. But their option suck, so I want to allie with a panzergrenadierkompanie. As a student of history and war, I know the tanks need infantry support. So how can I do this?
Michael Phillips
Why not just take 2 Panzergrenadier platoons?
Ryder Mitchell
> All in *soft flexible plastic*
Am I the only person who thinks the soft plastic is alright?
Sure, it’s not spectacular, but for multi-based 15mm infantry it’s decent.
Easton Cox
took them fucking long enough.
Cooper Howard
Well I wanted to field Jagdtigers, with a mech infantry. I am not ofay with 4e yet. Can I just random platoons as I please?
Jackson Myers
>Can I just random platoons as I please? No.
You must have one (and only one) "Parent company". This is the only company organisation where you can choose divisional support from. Any other companies in your force must be from the same book, and at least one of the core platoons from the secondary company must be available as a support option for the parent company. Which puts you SOL in the case of Bridge at Remagen, since the heavy tank companies do not have any support from the sole infantry company in the book.
Isaiah Martinez
Righty O, I think I am getting this. SO, I have to choose a Main force from ONE book. (Can't mix and match from the late war books). You wrote "at least one of the core platoons from the secondary company must be available as a support option for the parent company". Did you mean "up to one of the core platoons from the secondary company can be available as a support option for the parent company" ? IF so, then can I take any black boxes non-command company from any other force as what? A combat platoon? or support platoon? If its support, then IF my Jagdtigers die, then my force will leave the battle field, yes?. I get the feeling that maybe I am going about this is the wrong way. Should I be looking for a infantry company that can have Jagdtigers as support?
Jack Fisher
Ok, so say you're doing 510 Schwere Panzer here as your primary company. You see how it has the SS-Aufklarungs platoon as a support option? That means you can take a company with that as a core choice as a second company (the other force org chart). Both companies handle morale independently. However, only ONE company can get support past the Combat, Weapons, and Regiment/brigade support platoons (the first two columns). Both of these companies only have combat, weapons, and corps support. Brigade/regiment support is commonly for unmechanized infantry and explicitly says "brigade/regiment support.
Note, they do still have to be from the same book (Bridge at Remagen here). You can't use the panzergren platoon here to go and get a panzergren company from Grey Wolf, for example.
Other options for Jagdtigers are Ardennes Offensive, though they're veteran instead of trained (ie: more expensive for skill that doesn't matter as much because of your armor).
I choose, as my main/parent company, an american Tank Company from BaR. As a secondary company, I would like a Cavalry Recon Troop. This is allowed, because the Combat Platoons of the Recon Troop (the Recon Platoons) can be chosen as a support option for the Tank Company. Note that I must use the same Divisional Markings for both companies, where available (say, all units must be from 3rd Armored) For these two companies, I can choose Combat and Weapons Platoons freely (limited by points, of course, but aside from that), but any choice of Support Platoons must be from the main company, in this case the Tank Company. Therefore, I can not choose a Ranger platoon as support, since these are only available for the recon troop.
The advantage of having more than one company, is that as long as one of these companies remaing on the table, you're still in the game, with all your support. So if every last tank in my Tank Company was killed, but I still had enough recon platoons left on the table, I could still win (assuming I had enough support to actually, y'know, win)
>I get the feeling that maybe I am going about this is the wrong way. Should I be looking for a infantry company that can have Jagdtigers as support? Possibly.
Nathaniel Martin
That makes sense to me. I feel like I get it. So IF you were doing a big game of 3k+ pts, could you also take a 3rd company, as long as it was in the support area of your 1st? Going back to what I want to do, I have few options it would seem. How could I make this work able. I want to make a 1750-2k list. Could you help me?
Joshua Wilson
Well, for the first thing, most “standard” sized games are played at 1500 to 1750, so don’t be too worried about building lists larger than 1750.
Nathan White
Ok, so few more questions. Is there a unit look thing? like a search engine where you can put in a unit that you want to use and it gives you some options back. 2nd thing is, I was looking at the armies of the late war pdf in the link. Should I be using that?
Justin Murphy
If you’re a brand new player, just looking to get started with Late War, then Armies of Late War is a decent place to start. The lists are fairly generic, but they’ll include most of the main units commonly used by the Americans, British, Soviets, and Germans.
As for a unit search engine, I haven’t heard of one, but maybe someone else has.
What unit are you interested in?
Lucas Barnes
Armies of late war is one of many late war books its a good starting spot for new players as it has generic lists.
Best bet is the cards or in the books for unit stats. Armies of late war has a lot of them
Mason Kelly
>As for a unit search engine, I haven’t heard of one, >Is there a unit look thing? like a search engine where you can put in a unit that you want to use and it gives you some options back.
You need an account, but forces.flamesofwar.com/ will let you search by team/unit type and find what lists they show up in.
Caleb Robinson
I think for this army I should go basic german from late war. I like that I can take what I want with the jagdtigers are easy support. I can just pain them in the right colours and say they are the .512. I was also going to do a heavy tank thing too, so this kinda works out.
James Peterson
Also, what is a wild card?
Nicholas Sanchez
Yes.
Better late than never, but I would have preferred the far more numerous Panzerjager I as an option instead of the "only nine made" Dianas.
James Long
No, but we have deal with people like this guy who want intricate detail on 15mm models you spend most of your time looking at from 4 feet away.
Aaron Smith
Shows how easily you can sell people shit with the right branding and marketing.
Fabois gonna faboi.
Brayden Thompson
>Stop liking what I don't like!
Zachary Garcia
is funny, sad and true. All same time.
Ethan Bennett
No no no, you see the 4 feet rule helps to hide my shitty painting, the fact it hides the low level of detail is merely a bonus.
Jason Jackson
i've worked with it enough to say it's a worthy, though by no means preferred, modeling material for 15mm....and i must stress 15mm. it cleans up super easy.
easy army used to have one....used to. forces of war should too. both need sign-on
The problem with Jagdtigers is that you are pretty limited in terms of list, there is only 2 books with Jagdtigers, and the most viables one are from Remagen because they don't need the the good ratings since they are pretty durable as a whole.
Cameron Allen
People do insane things with them 6mm dioramas.
Julian White
oh fuck. nice!
Kevin Collins
Honestly, with my painting skills, more highly detailed minis are wasted on me.
>its a GOOD thing that model quality is going backwards over time guys
Carter Adams
I think soft plastic has potential, if for no other reason than mold quality hopefully remaining more consistent over time. They don’t really seem that much cheaper though.
For now I prefer nice metal sculpts, but maybe soft plastic will improve to a quality I would be happy using. Are we getting new British soft plastic for the rifle company or no? The motor melties look pretty bad.
Blake Edwards
>"We are committed to giving you the most detailed range of scale WWII models on the market."
Who even came up with the Assault Pancakes meme in the first place?
Jack Kelly
I mean, the gun is wildly oversized, but it appears to have all the detail that one could really need at that scale for a gaming piece.
Mmm, breakfast.
Gavin Walker
they are flat. and they are an Assault Gun
Blake Gutierrez
Didn't we used to have someone called 'Hungariboo' who cointed it? Is he still about? I don't come here too often.
Easton Scott
i forgot if it was Hungariboo or if it was some other early namefag.
we used to have some very good name fags. The British, Photoscanfag, Guybrarian, and so forth. It may have been one of them. Of the original namefags, i think only Eagles and Hungariboo remain.
hell, i was only an user back then, until i contributed to the guides and they needed a name. then it became habit....
Cooper Young
>I mean, the gun is wildly oversized
Well remember that BF 15mm are heroics like WG, it like comparing the early PSC infantry sets with their last ones.
Hudson White
>"I don't need another army, I've already got way too much to paint!" -user, 2018, moments prior to buying 3 boxes of Soviet tanks and infantry.
>Hey Wayne have you gotten the brief for the next release ready for the meeting? What, Uranus? >That's it You want me to prepare Uranus, Phil? >Yes *snickers*
Ethan Garcia
Hungariboo is still alive and well, just not as active in the flames community due to irl stuff and lack of interest in historicals at his FLGS. He’s trying to get some people started on Bolt Action, so maybe one day they’ll be into flames.
That would be a better name since it would theoretically fit more than urban battles. I think urban battles will be a novelty. V4 rules don’t play well with urban environments, especially since infantry are FP 6 instead of 5+ as most are in TY. Then again if it was named Operation Uranus, we’d really need some Romanians.
Jace Hill
You basically have to assault and if your not vets good luck not getting pinned on the way in unless you can find an angle where the defending teams cant see well because buildings.
Benjamin Richardson
>That would be a better name since it would theoretically fit more than urban battles Operation uranus did not take place in a city though, it was the flanking attacks on the 6th army, cutting them off from behind while they were stuck in stalingrad.
Operation Uranus would suit games where you have to navigate your T-34 by compass through a snowstorm, then burst through a Romanian line, where the Romanians have little chance of actually stopping you, but instead have to try to give you a bloody nose before being annihilated.
Is there a place that has copies of the command cards listed anywhere? Trying to see if my current lists are translatable to V4, but without the cards, I'm missing half the stuff.
Angel Gutierrez
I wonder if they will change the Romanians/Hungarians to beore fun to play like they did the Italians.
Nolan Phillips
Sorry I think there was a misunderstanding. I think the name "Enemy at the Gates" implies urban Stalingrad clusterfuck. If we had a name like Operation Uranus, it would cover more dynamic battles that better fit the V4 MW landscape. You could even throw in Papa Hoth's counterattack (even though it was largely blunted).
Welp, seeing as V4 rules pretty much force trained/conscript forces to sit in a foxhole or die, I would say chances are slim for Romanians. The armored lists could still potentially be interesting. Hungarians could still be cool, especially the way they do stats now. 4+ to hit, but also 4+ tactics rolls.
Leo Foster
Right, but Urban Clusterfuck is the iconic part of the battle of Stalingrad.
And we all know Battlefront likes to focus on the iconic parts of the war.
Easton White
C-card user uploaded the current ones. Not sure if they ever made it into the scan database.
Mason Kelly
I’ve been a bit lazy recently.
I have them, but I haven’t had the opportunity yet to get them into the database.
I’ll probably get a chance to do it later today.
I’ll also upload the generic blank unit cards that have been posted the past few threads as well.
Bentley Gonzalez
Uh, no idea what this is about. I assume Warhammer-style tabletop gameplay but in WW2.
Anyway, I want to know if the tanks are any good to have and paint as a model kit and have it displayed?
How expensive are the tanks for this game?
Nicholas Edwards
>I assume Warhammer-style tabletop gameplay but in WW2.
More or less. It uses a similar Move-Shoot-Assault turn sequence. But the miniatures are much smaller. 15mm scale instead of 28mm scale.
>Anyway, I want to know if the tanks are any good to have and paint as a model kit and have it displayed?
The kits are pretty good quality, but they’re significantly smaller than 40K tanks. A typical Sherman or T-34 isn’t much larger than a Matchbox car.
>How expensive are the tanks for this game?
They normally come in boxes of 5, for roughly $45. Although you can find them cheaper from various online stores.
Brody Roberts
Individual tanks can also be bought for the TANKS! game.
Same sprues, it's just provided without decals/crew and some cards for the other game.
Jose Wilson
Does anyone really want to play urban clusterfuck though? Urban combat has always been arduous, even in V3. After playing an urban fight in TY, I’d to say it’s damn near impossible to get it to work well unless the attacking force were like FV assault sappers or the defenders were way outnumbered.
Dylan Butler
>Armored Fist out mid April according to BF site >LGS has been selling it for about 2 weeks now BF really isn't good at this are they.
Josiah Butler
More likely that your LGS is breaking the street date. Undermining Battlefront's efforts to make sure every store has stock.
Jordan Cruz
What am I looking at here Hank?
Benjamin Brown
Yeah, breaking a street date like that can be grounds for denying a shop distribution rights, tho I'm not sure how strongly BF enforces that.
Some companies even impose fines on stores breaking such an embargo.
Jaxon Roberts
What confuses me is that usually the store receives the product a week after the street date. On rare occasions it is on time, and even more rarely it's 1-2 months late. They have never shipped any item more than a single week early. >I'm not sure how strongly BF enforces that. They don't, although your mileage may vary if your store owner doesn't play Warhammer Fantasy with BF employees.
Carter Ross
Also before someone asks they play goblins or ogres and are great to be around in general. Most of the crew I engaged with before the HQ move-around were passionate about FOW, the core team had worked at GW at varying levels and brought in the 2nd/3rd edition 40k feel of just wanting to help you have fun. Some of the newest guys rubbed me the wrong way, I think in part because BF was the only game company they'd ever worked for. Despite the whole 4th edition thing the same voices of reason work for the company in more or less the same positions. I have full faith the ship will or is being turned around.
That's really all I have to say: there are smart people in the company, they were never let go just shuffled around. All the tools are in place for a wonderful company just perhaps in wrong places. I am not Phil and have never met him.
Landon Bell
what are the extra btis for on some of these plastic Tanks? like my sherman has an extra machine gun and my lee has an alternative turret
Jace Jackson
How about you just don't play with urban terrain? Who cares what Phil wants you to do with the books? Just take the lists and play on an open field.
Liam Miller
The extra mg is because the piece is semi-fragile and can potentially break when you clip it from the frame. So they give you two.
The alternative turret on the Lee is for the Grant.
The US and UK versions of the M3 used different turret designs.
Luis Price
ok so theres a different front piece for the early Sherman as well. Whats that for? the UK version?
