The king is fearful that whatever affliction is taking hold of the peasantry will soon strike the nobility, possibly even the royal family. He needs you to fix it.
I just read a synopsis for this book and boy does it sound like Brian Keene suffers from impotence.

Seriously, Xenagos is one of the most hateable villains in Magic. Dude got everything he deserved and then some when he got erased from reality. Otherwise, commission and distribute a version of the kama sutra to the peasantry, as to win back their women with superior skill and prowess.
