I think the deepkin will be surprisingly beginner-friendly to collect, for relatively detailed models. Most of their armour has strong ridges which will collect washes in the recesses and be easy to highlight by drybrushing. Fish scales too should be fairly easy for a basecoat/wash/drybrush system. And of course, no difficult-to-paint eyes to worry about.

I'm kinda disappointed with the look of the deepkin to be honest. It's probably my own fault, but the term "cthulhu elves" has been used so heavily on the internet that it started to influence my expectations, and for my taste and in regards to that expectation, they look to "clean". They basically look like high elves, just with water and fish, instead of eldritch abominations, which is how i envisioned them.

You don't really seem to be listening to me. Storm of Chaos had a plot, Chaos was going to invade hard. The results were that Chaos got their ass beat.
There is no such plot in AoS. There is no "NAGASH IS INVADING THE REALMS!" storyline, he is just setting up.
How do you know only 3 people would play them? GW never gave them a chance and most people don’t even know they exist. If they made a new line and actually supported it and presented it with ads like the new armies are getting, it’d be pretty successful honestly. Especially if they focused on Hell Machinery like Demon trains and shit.
