Starting with Warmahordes again after a long break, so completely new to mk3 and all this new shit. Despite this I tried to come up with a list for Siege 3

Cygnar Army - 75 / 75 points
[Theme] Gravediggers

(Brisbane 2) Colonel Markus "Siege" Brisbane [+28]
- Grenadier [9]
- Hammersmith [12]
- Hammersmith [12]
- Triumph [18]
- Sylys Wyshnalyrr, The Seeker [4]
Captain Maxwell Finn [0(6)]
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt [8]
- Captain Jonas Murdoch [0(4)]
Trencher Commandos (max) [15]
- Trencher Commando Officer [4]
Trencher Infantry (max) [16]
- Trencher Infantry Officer & Sniper [5]

Could (and should) probably replace one or both of the Hammersmiths with Ironclads, but dammit they look so cool and every once in a while you get to combo-slam shit.

Now, my main question is, did I miss anything vital and/or have I taken something that I really shouldn't take?

Ironclads will probably do better for Siege2.

So I’ve only played small skirmishes so far, but I’m really liking the game. I’m an avid collector more than a player, but I’m having fun on both sides of it.

My main army is Cygnar, I’ve got Maddox, two Ironclads, two Stormclads, a Lancer, Laddermore, a Journeyman, and a Squire. I’m angling to pick up a squad of Stormblades and a squad of Stormlances. What else should I be on the lookout for?

Secondary is Circle. I’ve go Tanith, a Gorax Rager, a Wild Argus, a Feral Warpwolf, and a squad of Reeves. I want more Warpwolves, especially Stalkers and a Loki. What else should I angle for?

I’ve got the Menoth and Skorne battleboxes too, but I’m not too impressed by them.

Since you're gravitating to Stormblades and Stormlances, take a look at the Storm Division theme list.

Circle side of things, Reeves can be used in The Wild Hunt theme lists, so take extra choices from there.

Unless you have very casual players wherever you are, eventually you'll find yourself building up theme lists. To avoid table-flip inducing rage later, stick to one or two themes so you won't end up with models that you cannot use rules-wise.

Thanks, mate. Another question, I was looking at Long Gunners and wondering, are they worth it? They seem cool, but I don’t know if I shouldn’t just pick up more Stormblades or Stormguard or whatever.

I'm no Cygnar expert, someone else needs to tell if Heavy Metal theme list is any good, but I know that Long Gunners can only be included there. Storm Division units are: Field Mechanics, Silver Line Stormguard/Stormguard, Stormblade Infantry, Storm Lances , Stormsmith Grenadiers and Storm Towers and Trencher Combat Engineers.

Models that overlap Heavy Metal and Storm Division are Trencher Combat Engineers, Field Mechanics and from the solo side of things, Arlan Strangewayes, Journeyman Warcaster, Squire and Allison Jakes.

Storm Striders and Fireflies will serve you well in storm divsion, they synergise so well with all the electrical weapons.

Long gunners can be a useful back-of-zone holder in a heavy metal list, but they are expensive to field and die relatively easily. Trencher long gunners may be more expensive to field, but are harder to kill and fit into both heavy metal and gravedigger theme lists.

You'll probably want a second warcaster at some point, are there any playstyles or models that appeal to you in particular? With regards to what you already have, you'll definitely be well-served by some Storm Knight units since Maddox principally supports melee infantry. A Stormblade Captain is helpful if you've got more than a single unit. Stormsmith Grenadiers are also quite nifty - they fit into the Storm Division theme and gratefully accept Maddox's Snipe spell.

Additionally, you need a good warjack for your Journeyman to control. The best options here are ranged lights, so I'd recommend a Charger or a Hunter. A Firefly might also be good, though getting maximum use out of it might require playing farther forward than the Journeyman typically likes.

Am I fucked playing Protectorate war casters that aren't Harbinger, Amon, or Reclaimer2?

I have Reznik1 and Malekus and I keep getting my shit pushed in.

Sloans appeals to me, but my Jacks and the Stormboy I want are all melee centric as fuck.

I like hardy shit that’s meant for melee, and I keep getting told I should really play Khador or Trollbloods.

Not at all, my dude. Menoth has a pretty good stable of casters available to it. What problems are you running into? I will say that Malekus has a particular playstyle (ranged battlegroup) and Reznik1 is one of the most Focus-starved casters in the game.

Hmm...Locke and Mackay both seem like a ball to play. Though Mackay is kinda odd with low warjack points and not that many in-faction warjacks other than them. I guess she's more 'Bring a pair of railless interceptors' than lots of warjacks like Locke.

McKay lost one of her better benefits for Railless.

>I like hardy shit that’s meant for melee

Cygnar is by far the worst faction at this.

Ah, what did she have there? You think she's worth it still? She feels like she'd be a much easier pick if they had any infantry constructs (Like if she, rather than Locke, was the convergence warcaster) but I'll admit I'm a bit unsure right now due to 3/4 of her spells being warjack based but her also having the lowest warjack points in the faction.

Since the beginning the changes to her have been:

>Mortar Rng 15 to Rng 14
>Mortar Aoe 4 to Aoe 3
>Lost Veteran Leader [Railless Interceptor]
>Feat changed from boosted damage rolls to boosted damage rolls against an enemy in the ctrl area

>Post on the Skorne group on Facebook comparing Black Ogrun Smog Belchers to Incindiarii
>Instantly locked

Ah, that sucks. I mean, she looked nasty before but her feat does feel kinda tricky to use right now without enough constructs on the field and no cheap constructs about. Maybe if they had a minitank/armoured car option.

Not Cygnar's strong suit, but you can get pretty close by going jack heavy. The Centurion chassis is generally comparable to Khadoran jacks. Cygnar's infantry typically is of the "fragile specialist" variety.

I'd probably point you towards Darius, Jakes2, or one of the Nemos. There's a case to be made for Stryker1, as well.

Well everyone knows Incindiarii are shit. No need to retread the same ground a billion times. Also:
>facebook

So do you guys have any advice on painting faces and other small details? I just did my first go over or my Jakes1 (which I will be running as a regular Journeyman), and the face is driving my nuts.

I dunno if I'd go that far. I think Cygnar can field tough, stompy shit with greater ease/variety than Retribution or Legion. It just means that you'll mostly be playing in Heavy Metal, but Cygnar has lots of casters that can thrive there.

I mean, Stryker1 is pretty bland but he's still more or less THE caster for ARM skew. If your opponent doesn't have good upkeep hate, they're gonna be dealing with a lot of ARM22+.

Watch tutorials on YouTube. Read tutorials on various miniature forums. Google: painting faces warhammer tutorial. As always, thin your paints And use Citadel Shades (or ArmyPainter washes), this makes the biggest difference for beginner painter.

I just apply one layer of Skintone (any brand) to the entire face and wash it light brown (again any brand). Fast, easy, looks okay. Painting eyes is for people with spare time.

Heavy Metal is such a mutable theme. I mean you got Stryker1 double stormwall, Caine3 charger spam, Kara gun line, Kraye run and gun, Darius double stormwall, Darius Jack spam, Nemo Jack spam in any of his incarnations, Jakes2 melee hit and run, Stryker3 jacks....
