started painting for the first time today. holy shit those models get about 50x smaller when you take a brush to them, no wonder they make some brush sizes that look like it's literally 1 hair. gonna take a lot of practice, but it's fun!

lads, i have a conundrum. what does a needle pistol look like? what is the closest pistol i can buy that would look like it? all i know is it shoots, well, needles. so im thinking one of those elf pistols that shoot chineese stars might be close. i dont think a bolt pistol would look right as a needle pistol, and i like to play wysiwyg

Snipers are very army-specific and if there's no targets they're a 50pt Volkite Autocannon, but I like running a few in bigger games just for the awesome and the ability to shut down Guard nonsense.
Might drop them and some other bits for a fourth Dragoon if I keep the Stygies list.

There was a bit of miscommunication last thread where I referred to my friends list as his casual list. That’s true, in the “this is the list he’s going to take in casual games“ way but not in the “I’m running whatever I feel like it” way. He only ever runs lists that he feels are optimised, and he’s driven away at least one person from the local club due to his power gaming before.
He’s already told me he’s going to put his Crisis Suits in storage since “they aren’t worth their points, so they aren’t worth taking”, and he was a Crisis/Riptide heavy Farsight Enclaves player during the last two editions.
I’m looking for advice on what I should focus on to improve my list. I certain that long-range high strength firepower is sorely lacking, but I’m not sure what else need improving.
I’m thinking that I should add a Contemtpor-Exemplar and a Valkyrie to my list to add some high strength shooting on fairly durable units, but I’m interested in hearing about other options.
What is everyone working on?

even if it was as light as a regular pistol due to majic advanssed spehss metals it'd still be extremely unwieldly to use as one would a pistol.
That thing should be either shoulder mounted and fired through some neural connection or some shit (like Predator's gun) or have a long ass barrel and be held like a rifle

the few of us who play necrons are pretty hyped. though its pretty understandable for people to lose their fucking minds over sisters, who havent had a codex in 20 years and any plastic models in the range for 25 years.
and as someone who collects necrons, deathwatch, knights, space marines, primaris marines, tau, sisters of battle and grey knights; I am pretty happy this edition with everything but the grey knights.

The current battle of sister line from 1996 is a bunch of monopose uncustomizable, low details models with manfaces.
Plastic will bring at least some customisation and pose variations and much finer details.
The set cheaper are literally a bonus at this point. No one order from GW in the first place because of the lack of customization in their "deals". Most of my sisters are either ebay or metal recasts. Ony GW-bought pieces I own are Verydian and Celestine.
Starting sororitas now might be the absolute worst possible choice, as they are announced for next year. You'd be paying "collector" prices for models that are likely older than you.
Half the armies of 40k are newer than the sisters of battle sculpts. They were introduced at the same time as the Necron but have not been updated since.

Plastic is the standard now, so really GW should have full lines of plastic models for every army. Think of it like a sports team building new stadiums, and a couple of teams get new stadiums dozens of times before one of the teams even gets one
