Let's create city states

Probably 10-12 of them. We discuss their society, culture, politics, history, location etc.

Built upon hundreds of islands, Marineza is the one of the most powerful naval and maritime powers of the sea.

In the mountains to the north is Onalim, it protects the realm from the savage northern barbarians. It also has the most trade with foreigners and sets the fashion trends for all the citystates

Bordering an impassable desert, Gypet-Hote is a strange amalgamation of slums and ancient ruins of black stone, allegedly predating the city state by centuries. Gypet is famed for its glasswork, with rare types of sand gathered in the far corners of the Hote desert. Many dunes nearing the city state are open pits, where constant excavation battles against the sandstorms.

Eznerif is famous for architecture and wine.

Anneis is the rival citystate to Eznerif, they fight so often that they just formalized it into an annual game of Ybgur to decide who wins.

Amor is the most powerful citystate, it has a huge lake of pure holywater with a half sunken temple to the goddess of love and grapes.

Ylicics is on a southern island and their magical navy is unbeatable.

Sorry, one by one

Gypet-Hote is ruled by the Council of Nine, traditionally convening in the biggest black stone structure in the center of the city. They are elected by vote through a complicated and heavily process, and there's no limit on re-election. The power is thus mainly concentrated among several ruling families and guilds.

The Council may exile people it deems most dangerous to the stability of Gypet-Hote for a period of 10 years. Common targets often include political or business rivals. While seemingly not as harsh as an execution, this sentence often leads to a slow death among the inhospitable dunes.

Al-Aktal is an old walled city, ruled by hobgoblins, who make up the majority of the city's inhabitants. None alive today remember, but it was originally a human city called Herakleion, part of the ruling empire, before the dragons broke the world.

Today, its wealth comes from its position on one of the few stable trade routes in the region, it's hobgoblin masters levying exorbitant taxes on traders passing through. Crimes, of which there are many thanks to the draconian laws the city upholds, are punished by sentencing to the judicial arena - there the convicted earn back their freedom by fighting for the citizen's entertainments, or die in the process.

The city boasts an extensive, but dilapidated, sewer network. Rumours abound that the tunnels are inhabited by monsters. In truth, the city guard are engaged in secret war with the undead who reside beneath the city that was once their home.

Centered around the lake at the base of the mountains of the Fermore Steppes lies Calsera.

Originally only a small settlement deemed neutral ground by the old steppe tribes, Calsera grew and changed over the centuries into the grand city it is today. The city extends outwards from the centermost building, located directly in the center of Calsera Lake. Upon an artificial island lie the Glimmering Spires, home of the Council of Magic.

Calsera is known as the "City of Magic", for within resides the ruling Council of Magic, a political entity consisting of twenty various spellcasters, ranging from archmagi, to archdruids, to old shamans from the many tribes that still roam the steppes. One Grand Magister acts as a tiebreaker in times of disagreement between the ruling council.

Stop creating city states.

Stop fathering gay weak sons who can't even conquer the world.

Onalim is ruled by the Grand Prince. The denizens worship the Goddess of the Cloud, and known for being religious. They also pay tributes to steppe nomads.

Constantly being attacked by barbarians and monsters throughout history, Anneis is very heavily defensed and its mercenaries are among the most fiercest and loyalest.

Entirely built inside a large cave system the city state of Ghofamo is home to people exiled from their own birth place due to their alternative sexuality.
As the combat the low fertility, raid parties are formed from time to time to acquire new breeding slaves for the community.

Which ones have dank libraries, and which ones are patrons of the arts.

Fieta is known for being patron of arts and knowledge. Also the city is very powerful for its banking

Shatal-Sohar lies in the steep canyon upon a river between two immense mountains, with the sea several miles beyond. Built into the walls of the canyon, great bridges span the gap which sway dangerously in the strong winds - but only outsiders seem to mind. The two halves of the city (Shatal and Sohar) have nobles that are locked in constant shadowy conflict with one another, aided by the large number of necromancers that inhabit Shatal-Sohar. These necromancers were invited in by the city's rulers generations ago, amd the interest they have in the ancient canyon cliffs is not clear to anyone.

Alright I'm OK with adding more cities, feel free to do so but I also recommend you to expand upon existing ones

Bump

Why not?

In a large cavern complex under the arctic watses, there is a strange tribe of cave-people who live in the subterranean oases there.
Currently there are attempts by various organizations to explore and gain control of the area, but the extreme difficult of actually getting there in the first place both due to the surrounding terrain and the competing organizations means that only small teams arrive. And once they've already arrived, leaving tends to be more difficult.
There's now about as many foreigners who have taken-up residence in these lush caverns as there are natives.
It is a place of both cultural exchange and of high tension between said cultures.
