It's not Episode I bad at least. No clue how that fucking thing was okayed for production. I personally wouldn't have minded CGI Yoda. They talked up practical effects but then gave us shit like Maz anyway. Still for old times sake I don't mind the puppet either. Mostly it just felt half assed. Rygel from Farscape was more convincing. They have the budget and animatronics tech to make something special, then just phone it in.

Okay, so, taking guesses for Scout Troopers in Legion.

I bet they're gonna mirror Commandos but with some subtle differences, like how Leia and Veers are a bit similar. My guess is they'll have Scout 1 only, but will make up for it by having the Red Defense and maybe Sharpshooter 2. But the keywords don't ever perfectly mirror, so they might not have Low Profile, but instead get that Unhindered keyword.

I'm predicting they'll only have their EC-17 as a standard gun, so I could see making them not quite as scooty when deployed and more vulnerable to open terrain fire with their shorter range, but better able to ninja around terrain to get close.

One heavy weapon will be the E-11s trooper which will have very long range, probably like, Impact 1 and Pierce 1 and similar dice to the DLT. Maybe have cumbersome though to force you to shoot carefully. No clue what the second heavy weapon guy will be.

You've just been appointed as commander of a starfighter squadron. Answer the following questions:
What does your squadron call itself?
What type of starfighter(s) do you use? What role do you fulfill on the battlefield?
Who do you fight for? Where are you based out of (carrier, planetary base, etc.)? Who do you take orders from?
Do your squadron's ships have any distinct markings?
Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?

Also Rebels now has it you can just flip the front of the helmet off without having to pop the whole thing.

I thought the puppet was ok but the effects on him where bad, he didn't seem like a ghost so much as just glowing but at the same time he wasn't illuminated well. He wasn't translucent either, right?

Not sure if this is the real story, but I always enjoyed the notion that people forgot that, while yes Yoda would be younger in the Prequels, since he was already pushing 900 he wouldn't actually look all that younger if at all.

Need_TLC
Need_TLC

Not saying that it was necessarily actually George's idea, but there's the fact that the stress of the war and seeing everything go to hell around him could have really sucked the life out of him. Hell, even in the real world it's not uncommon for an elderly person to look and feel fine then suddenly decline rapidly after serious stress.

Hence why a number of people are currently worried about Stan Lee - dude's 95 years old, his wife died last fall, he's had a bunch of money stolen from him, and now he's basically been isolated. None of these things are good indicators for his life expectancy and many fully suspect he'll be dead before the year is out.

refit option, the Covus is listed in the databank as a Raider Mk. 2

and it's not a massive hanger, two X wings or two(possibly 4*) ties. It also looks like it could be part of the cargo bay, and the boarding ramp terminates there so their isn't alot of room

*you see two in campaign, but a tie for each member of inferno makes sense to me...

Thank you, one of the modifications a few of the X-Wings have are a secret compartment for buzz droids. We release a few when we dock on board a ship and have them hide and then they only activate again when the ship is being attacked to mess with everything(or messing with life support in the dead of night)or to transmit a tracking signal to an imperial ambush fleet. The idea of giving the rebels a taste of their own medicine and dragging rogue squadron's name through the mud makes me giddy and I imagine it would make Palpatine smile at us from beyond the grave.

His previous nurse/aid assistance company was fired, no reason given to the public. Last week, the guy who's been his helper, best friend and surrogate son for the past ~20 years was also fired. Lots of celebs are saying that they're worried about the guy and they've tried to put in a wellness check with the police, but there's been no word yet.

TechHater
TechHater

Huh. I heard he was being investigated for allegations of sexually harassing nurses at his previous retirement home.

Bidwell
Bidwell

I don't know of any active investigations, but there were claims he was harassing the nurses at his home - he was never in a nursing home. Those claims have obviously been denied, and that company was fired by Lee and his estate.

He's also been suffering from pneumonia, and apparently (I just googled him just now) confirmed this morning that he's going to Silicon Valley Comic Con.

At the end of February he revealed he was fighting pneumonia, this was after he canceled a number of appearances.

It was revealed that an unauthorized check for 300k was signed to the charity he no longer participates in, but formed with a former business associate of his daughter's. Then someone used his money to buy a condo worth 850k near his home, and another wire transaction issue cost him an additional 1.4 million.

Max Anderson, who's been his pal and caretaker for I'm not entirely sure how long, reportedly had an argument with Stan's daughter, and was fired and removed from the home by the police.

All in all, there's a lot of shady shit happening around Stan right now and his friends are right to be worried.

What does your squadron call itself?
285th "Starhawk" Squadron

What type of starfighter(s) do you use? What role do you fulfill on the battlefield?
TIE Defenders, all day, erryday. Provide escort for VIPs and pursuit of hit-and-run attackers.

Who do you fight for?
Gilad Pellaeon's Most Glorious Imperial Remnant

Where are you based out of (carrier, planetary base, etc.)?
A once-mothballed Venator, restored in an attempt to reinforce the considerably-diminished Imperial Navy.

Who do you take orders from?
Countess Ryad, who has been elevated to wing command. Even though she dies before Pellaeon creates/leads the Remnant; but not in my reality.

Do your squadron's ships have any distinct markings?
Red stripes on the wing's edges to signify our subordinate status to Countess Ryad.

Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?
Kantor "Blindside" Blayne, former swoop gang member, given the option of using his skills for the dying Empire instead of prison. Token obnoxious quipper, but excels at outflanking maneuvers.

Hana "Ice Queen" Zorbin, rumored to be a former Inquisitorious apprentice. Frosty personality, highly atypical reflexes, XO of the squadron.

Special snowflake squadron names are for Rebs and other such verminous degenerates.
What type of starfighter(s) do you use?
A LAAT/i isn't a starfighter, retard.
What role do you fulfill on the battlefield?
Reconnaisance-in-force and interdiction.
Who do you fight for?
His Imperial Majesty, Human High Culture, revenge on the aliens for their millennia of oppressing and stealing from their betters.
Where are you based out of (carrier, planetary base, etc.)?
Whatever alien infested Outer Rim shithole our mission takes us.
Who do you take orders from?
Our commanding officers, retard.
Do your squadron's ships have any distinct markings?
Kill counts for each shitty little """"house"""" full of Reb-loving traitors burned from the air. The things you learn about different species from hearing their various screams of agony.
Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?
None that I can tell. This is honestly one of the easiest jobs in the galaxy.

There. I've just given you guys some great final bosses for a starter campaign. Hateable villains, lot of power, but ultimately they're pussies who can barely psychologically handle prey who shoot back. The Empire's based on the Nazis, and these guys are based on the Security Divisions.

Pic related but I suppose is Star Wars it would translate to something like a Khiraxz or Dune Lizard; some generic starfighter company's attempt at an X-Wing. In terms of role, probably multi-role fighter/bomber shenanigans. Fly in, destroy a target, and fight our way out if the air-superiorty guys are fucking off for some reason (or there are none), with occasional air-superiority missions.

who do you fight for? where are you based out of? who do you take orders from?
We fly for a mercenary company, Second-to-Last Resort. We are based out of an old Venator being held together with love and duct-tape, christened Tall Drink of Water. The company captain and father goes by the name Mordeu, but people tend to call him Grandad.

are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?

TreeEater

What does your squadron call itself?
the Star-Hags

What type of starfighter(s) do you use? What role do you fulfill on the battlefield?
Mostly old light freighters and some of the MandalMotors fighters like the Scyk, Dune Lizard, and Krayt. They're pirates; they raid shit and steal shit.

Who do you fight for? Where are you based out of (carrier, planetary base, etc.)? Who do you take orders from?
They fight for themselves. They call an asteroid base on the borders of Hutt Space home. The Captain (and her First Mate) is a former Hutt slave (Rishka Sev) and her personal assassin droid, a very old HK-50 stolen from the Hutt she ran away from. They prefer to raid Hutts because of her vendetta. Despite the name and female leadership, men aren't excluded.

Do your squadron's ships have any distinct markings?
Beyond the assorted rust? Each ship gets a crudely-painted witch pin-up, broomstick and all.

Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?
The pilots are fine, but tend to be crazy daredevils. Their raiding party boarders are of higher quality than most would expect.

What role do you fulfill on the battlefield?
Anti-capital attacks, occasionally air support, specialist pirate/slaver hunters
Who do you fight for?
Mercenary, but in practice never for any of the nastier warlords
Where are you based out of (carrier, planetary base, etc.)?
Originally a planetary base, now an old, salvaged light frigate of obscure manufacture (homebrew design) with a skeleton crew
Who do you take orders from?
Colonal , who's the commander of the whole unit, or Major , who leads the squadron
Do your squadron's ships have any distinct markings
Woodland camoflage paint, initially for practical reasons, later as a trademark
Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?
There's 'Heartthrob', a pilot who used to be a cover model for cheap romance holonovels, Balat 'off-brand' Antilles, who's apparently an excellent dogfighter in an X-wing, but in the absence of those, manages to get by in a skipray, racking up almost thirty TIE kills since he joined the squadron

No, that's a pretty fair portrayal. The Mandalorians of the movie era are not the legendary space vikings of the Old Republic.

Red stripes on their wing support struts, some squadron veterans have red ships that were at one point used by the Royal Guard.
Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?
Codename 'Blackout'- He claims it is because his TIE Silencer has sensor-scrambling tech that makes him difficult to detect without a clear visual, (as in a sensor blackout) but he actually got it by being very drunk during most of his off-time.

this is mostly just my fluff for my Epic games when I fly something like Blackout, 3 Defenders, a Raider, a TIE/Shuttle, and a pair of TIE/SFs.

I suppose. They way I portray them they're still the absolute best fighters the galaxy has to offer, but it attracts a lot of drifters and people who just want to fight instead of Traviss' thing where the moment you join one of the clans she writes about you're immediately a person of substance.

What does your squadron call itself?
C47 Fighter Squadron, nicknamed the "Cat-Fighters."

What type of starfighter(s) do you use? Do your squadron's ships have any distinct markings? What role do you fulfill on the battlefield?
Pic-related as they'd translate to Star Wars. With the same colors, unless one of you guys can provide some dope-ass arwing recolors. For roles, they're aerospace-superiority fighters.

Who do you fight for? Where are you based out of (carrier, planetary base, etc.)? Who do you take orders from?
No pseudo-Star Fox unit is worth without the Great Fox. How would you guys stat it? A bulkier Gozanti with internal hangers? A small Ton-Falk?

Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?
If I use these guys as NPCs I'll probably have humans and aliens with one or two as reference to the SF crew as opposed to copying the entire cast.

that's... embellishing things quite a bit. they didn't "master" farming "within a week or two." they just became farmers. you make it sound like they revolutionized agriculture.

anyways, we don't see a lot of it first-hand (as in typical Star Wars fashion the protagonists are "good guys") but the mando culture is presented as one that attracts a lot of lowlifes and mercs. It's not until post-NJO after they've had a recent enemy to unite against (the vong) and discovered new veins of mandalorian iron (thanks to craters left from the war) that they're able to revitalize their manufacturing industry and rally behind a common cause.

True Facts about the Mandalorian
The bond between a Mandalorian and his or her Basilisk War Droid is a particularly strong one in nature. For years he or she will polish, tune and learn to use the Basilisk. Instead of filling it with blaster fire as a method of testing it, a Mandalorian shows such love for it they'll merely drop it through an atmosphere so as not to harm it.
Mandalorian DNA has been found in approximately 8 in 10 Basiliks War Droids. Science is still unsure if this is because Basilisks are Mandalorians' true offspring, or for other as of yet undiscovered reasons.

Not really, but sorta? Even then it was only Gihren and his speech that ever gave anyone the ability to draw that comparison.

addiction to super weapons
But the Federation had the Gundam? Which was literally the strongest super weapon in the entire series. Dropping a space colony on your enemy out of desperation doesn't mean they have an addiction and it's not even close to the Death Star.

loves war crimes
Both sides were guilty of war crimes. Zeon used gas, feddies raped and looted civilians and their homes.

is still full of decent folks, ramba ral = veers
headed by super evil overlord
Degwin is pretty far from "super evil" but he's a clear contrast against Zeon Zum Deikun. There are lots of good folks in Zeon too, like Bernie, Kelly and Anavel. On the flip side, we see a bunch of assholes working for the feddies, plus their entire admiralty is a bunch of stuffy old men who think they know best (sound familiar?).

enforcer of their will is a masked man
Char really isn't an enforcer of the Zabi families will. In fact he's quite the opposite, being their mortal enemy and personally killing two of their heirs.

bickering, internal politics, nepotism, contributed greatly to their own defeat
Bickering and internal politics? Not really, not unless you read the non-canonical materials. Zeon was a united front of spacers (many of which were forcibly relocated from their home on Earth) fighting the tyranny of a far away government. Nepotism definitely plays a big part in all of it though.

wastes resources trying to catch a youngster
Zeon didn't waste resources trying to catch Amuro, they wasted resources trying to catch the Gundam prototype because it was more technologically advanced than any of their mobile suits - and even that was something that they quickly gave up on.

So there's Scum Aces

Usually involving Fenn Rau with PTL/Title/Authothrusters

other than that you chose the other two aces. I ran one to practice that had Talonbane Cobra and Thweek. I've seen it run with Thweek and Dalan Oberos (both Starviper and Kimogila flavors), another Protectorate, or even a M3-A or two.

My assessment? It's not as strong as other factional aces lists, mostly because their gimmicks rely entirely on their use of PTL, and there's a lot of stuff around that turns PTL off (read: extra stress) as well as you being restricted to a fraction of your dial for greens.

gimmicks rely entirely on PTL
but that is almost all aces lists right

Lately there's been a lot more ships and builds with extra gimmicks. Advanced Optics allows you to save a focus for a rainy day, the best aces have authothrusters as a must, many of the good aces now have access to FCS or Sensors, or their pilot ability is just that good (Poe's focus turning and QD's retaliatory strikes for example). For some, like Poe, PTL isn't even a necessity anymore.

However if you can pull it off Scum aces can be quite devastating. The trick is making the most of your limited options with people like Fenn and Talonbane. If you get that R1 shot in, your opponent can kiss their ass goodbye.

tl;dr Scum Aces can work but it's probably not the best around; but hey, it can work so give it a try and see what happens

Maybe a group that does to Corucsant or Hosnian what Rax attempted to do to Jakku, only with a better plot and reasoning?

Could have a legion of Storm Troopers that are something like Krayt's Sith Troopers or the Kull Warriors from Star Gate, in that they are clearly beyond Human in how effective they are and have had their brains chemically modified to homicidal levels of aggression, ensuring they will never falter in their resolve to destroy the New Republic, a task to which their superiors do not care if their troopers survive, as they are expendable.

Could have their high command be an Imperial Moff with an aging, hunk of junk, minor Super Star Destroyer on it's last legs (to be crashed into the capitol during the initial operations), a member of the Imperial department of research that is still on the NR's list of war criminals, a pair of bounty hunters and a force sensitive occultist whom blames the Rebels for destroying his chance to win Palpatine's favor by defeating Vader in a fight.

during dead of night
the problem with that, if you think about it, is that a spaceship with a serious crew would act more as the crew of an Ohio class sub, than a surface target. you have a constant, rotating watch with designated "shifts" based on the ship clock rather than local system time. this means that there isnt really any off hours, because at any time except shift change, one crew will be on (working) one off (usually sleeping) and one on stand-down (small personal drills, personal hygiene, light duty, paperwork for officers, food and chow) so you never catch a ship unattended.

the flip side is you could try and catch the jv, or baby watch, which would be the shift with the largest number of junior officers, and new personell. a smart captain usually offsets this by having his senior chiefs (most experienced non-comms) on duty at the same time. this helps offset young officer stupidity, by allowing them to lean on the senior chiefs experience.

Renegade Squad. Special opts group of former Alliance pilots and operatives who were captured and turned over to Imperial Intelligence for mental reconditioning, brainwashing them into loyal agents, under Project Minefield. While most of Human members are originally Imperial, many members are alien species making infiltration missions easier playing on Rebel sympathies and less suspect of their new found allegiances.

What type of starfighter(s) do you use? What role do you fulfill on the battlefield?
TIE/IN Interceptor; space superiority fighter and Phantom TIE for deep reconnaissance/infiltration.

Who do you fight for? Where are you based out of (carrier, planetary base, etc.)? Who do you take orders from?
Empire. Squad is usually stationed on Fondor but are transferable to any Imperial Navy capital ship that is in proximity to their objectives. Most of missions are sent directly from Imp Int hierarchy

Do your squadron's ships have any distinct markings?
Standard Galactic emblem, with an upside down, broken Rebel Alliance emblem inside the the core circle.

Are there any noteworthy pilots in your squadron?
Vizzal'Rha "Mercy" - Female Twi'lek pilot. The 'proof of concept' for the reconditioning program and the squad's first ace. Scored 10 kills (7 confirmed) against her former rebel flight squad. Nickname allegedly earned from the last thing rebel pilots say before she shoots their escape pods.

Severa "High-Altitude" Durand - Female Zeltron. Captured (former '23er') Alliance Intelligence operative, turned double agent. Feeds Alliance outdated and superficial intel while keeping Imp Int fully informed of Rebel activities. Successfully executed a 'house cleaning' mission: potential Imperial defectors killed by Durand's Rebel squadron after misinforming her 'superiors' of the imperial's intentions, preventing valuable intel from landing in rebel hands.

I think one of their canon geeks pointed out once that while there is a specific Imperial Army the Stormtrooper Corps will always, ALWAYS, be the de facto face of the Empire because they're so iconic. They carry the full weight of the Empire in its thematic and somewhat literal sense. Same reason George didn't want cortosis blades to challenge lightsabers on screen. Visually the lightsaber is THE sword of Star Wars. Similarly the Stormtrooper is THE evil enemy crab of Star Wars.

With the GAR, though, it makes sense to think that the Stormtrooper would be the singular soldier model for the Empire. At least in Phase I there weren't a lot of variants. Phase II, yeah, a lot more specialist armors.

It's less even that they "can't help it" and more that the Army troopers were literally invented for the EU. Stormtroopers aren't MORE iconic; Army troopers don't exist in the films. What we've come to call the Army uniform only shows up a few places: Veers, the AT-ST co-pilot, and a few technicians (background extras standing by consoles and such.) The actual soldiers and guards are invariably Stormtrooper variants.

They're EU bloat, they didn't get used because they never really showed up. And hell, I use them in my games. I like the concept. But I'm not upset that they got the cut in the NU.

Techpill
Techpill

This is a fair enough point. I've not had an opportunity to use them in a game, but if I can scrape one together I think I'll wind up using them as we see them in the film (pilots and support staff, as you said) and perhaps busting them out as the military occupational equivalent of mall cops. King_Martha

i guess base the group action around episode 4
before you make any trouble, black helmets are stationed at entrances and manning posts like the jail cell
all stormtroopers are on patrol duty

so when you start going loud, your first foes will be the black helmets
as the enemy begins to realize your party is a threat, they call the storm troopers to assist, like how the first people to respond to han and lukes shootout were storm troopers

in places with a high degree of resistance or crime, they might skip black helmets and directly post storm troopers on guard duty like in the shadow port in rogue one

endor waa guarded by both black helmets and storm troopers
but the grunts were all stationed indoors while stormies were outside
so on military bases, black helmets are for light tasks like guard duty, while storm troopera are the military duty

the two tasks are not exclusive, and either can be made to do the duty of the other
on endor, when han calls for reinforcements, both types rush out to fight
likewise, you see stormtroopers guarding the rear entrance

Methshot
Methshot

It also varies widely by sector. I'd check out the old WEG Imperial Sourcebook for more crunch, as it's where most of this was first established.

But also... as with anything else Star Wars, the real number is whatever the plot wants it to be. Your game isn't really being audited and your players probably won't have power levels high enough to notice a discrepancy in the official numbers.

Anyone else have a problem with the notion that Imperial Center fell to the Alliance so quickly after Rogue Squadron did their thing? Coruscant is covered in a single contiguous city with a population of one trillion. Even back when the "continuation of the GCW"-centric phase was being written, shit like Grozny and Sarajevo was going down. Any Imperial stay-behind force large enough to offer meaningful resistance could effortlessly entrench itself enough to make fighting for control of even a portion of Coruscant a messy shitshow. Especially, as would be the case with the Alliance, if you don't consider "just flatten these grid squares" an acceptable choice of action.
The chronology I shared way the fuck back in veekyforums.com/thread/58623982/games, there's sustained, bloody urban fighting that continues even after enough of Coruscant is taken for it to safely house the government of the New Republic, and the pro-Imperial insurgency is still hanging on when the Empire retakes the planet. Pic related is really accurate, includes the part where half the grunts in this photo are dead by the time the battle to secure the Iwo Jima-sized area of Coruscant with this place corresponding to the peak of Mount Suribachi is over.

Galactic Battlegrounds actually did add a long and challenging ground invasion scenario to that, but IIRC, Isard deliberately left Coruscant lightly defended and abandoned it quickly because muh Krytos virus.

I know, but even with a "light" force Coruscant could realistically be that Galactic Battlegrounds campaign times ten happening all over the planet for years.

Dreamworx
Dreamworx

Maybe, but then again, we don't know how long Isard had been evacuating Imp forces. Coruscant itself isn't an asset of much strategic importance anyway. While the system does sit at a hyperspace crossroads, Coruscant produces nothing of worth to a military campaign--no military shipyards, no large-scale agriculture, no mines, no medicine, no large-scale arms industry. All it does is consume and import. It's a logistical black hole. A Coruscant meat grinder would have drained the Empire's already limited manpower, even if they gave better than they got against a Rebel invasion. Better to abandon the planet, let the NR be saddled with the upkeep of supplying the locals, and leave the Krytos virus behind to further fuck up the NR's PR and supply situation.

farquit
farquit

Addendum: by the same token, after the Empire retakes Coruscant a pro-Republic insurgency starts up. As the Imperial infighting escalates though, it becomes less and less about fighting the Imps and more and more about getting civilians off the planet.
I still say even a skeleton force like Isard would leave could inflict vastly disproportionate casualties.

AwesomeTucker
AwesomeTucker

Well, at the time the official population number for the place was approximately 100 billion, and the overwhelming majority of the population cared nothing for the empire, which would make sustaining an insurgency pretty much impossible.
Add that to the republic really not needing to flush all those pockets out when they can just blockade their access to offworld food and simply starve them out or kill them if they poke their heads out, and you get a situation where yeah there'll be holdouts here and there, but they can't really do anything and most will be gone inside of 2 years

disproportionate casualties
Maybe, but knowing Isard's competence in a stand-up fight, those disproportionate casualties would have been Imperial. She's an intelligence officer and spymaster, not a general. Her plan with Coruscant and the Krytos virus played to her strengths and did very nearly pay off.

That's kinda the thing with coruscant, nobody can really govern the place as a whole, all they can do is control the surface, spaceports and parts of the upper levels, and the rest of the place just kinda staggers along on it's own, except for when it interacts with the galactically relevant bits. The empire managed to control the upper levels, parts of which were even pro-imperial, and keep somewhat larger portions of the planet in fear, but even they didn't have real control over probably 90% of the place, and ultimately, the NR wouldn't really, either

The only other Imperial ground assets and senior command of any note did try to dig in and fight, but rather than engage in a protracted insurgency, they dug in with turrets, tanks, and walkers. How that fight played out is up to how you go through the mission in SWGB, but most of that level can be cheesed using long-range arty plus Luke's conversion power and health regen.

I think there's some nuEU crap about the the Corellians signing deals with the FO or something, even if that isn't true I'm still rolling with it.

The Corellian Diktat is basically going to be an unofficial puppet state of the FO, cracking down on the traditional Corellian way of life in order to fuel the FO war machine. Opposing them is an army led by every notable Corellian Rebel or NR character I can think of, though definitely including Garm Bel Iblis, Crix Madine, Wedge Antilles and Dengar. Expect many parralels to the American War of Independance.

IIRC, the Core was hotly contested past 6 ABY and several planets changed hands multiple times. The Empire retook a number of planets (including Coruscant, I think) in 10 ABY, Corellia remained Imp until 12 ABY, and Kuat remained Imp until 8 ABY.

Based on how the FO has performed thus far, I think even Pellaeon would sign on with Team Garm just to put Old Space Yeller out of its misery.

The Yuuzhan Vong may exist in my campaign's continuity, but I have no intention to use them in large numbers anytime soon. My setting, as far as I'm concerned, ends around 24 ABY or so, with some slight differences, like the NJO moving into the OJO's Temple and re-establishing the Jedi Council.

As far as post-campaign, I could see myself making use of the Yuuzhan Vong War, because I do like the Vong.

My campaign is still in development though, so I may toss in a chance for the players to come across a Yuuzhan Vong scouting party or something.

I can, however, firmly say that anything in Legends that happens post-Vong does not occur, aside from possibly the events of the Legacy comics. The war with the Kiliks doesn't happen, nor does the events of Legacy of the Force or Fate of the Jedi (although I do like the idea of the One Sith and Daala's rogue fleet, but nothing more than that).

They appear on schedule, but they stick to the Unknown Regions. They're not warring against anyone, but that's due to the massive tension within their ranks. A sect has risen claiming that the rumors are true that the scouts discovered a living planet, but that the priesthood is wrong and the prophesied living world is the salvation of the Yuuzhan Vong, not their doom. Until things shake out one way or another with that, they're just hanging around, upsetting the balance of power in the area by being there.
Also, the descendants of the Outbound Flight's survivors aren't evicted by the Chiss. They started colonizing planets in the Ascendancy's planned redoubt before the two sides make contact. This last remnant of the Old Republic is another one of the UR's polities. Complicates things further. Fun times.

I have something similar as a prelude to my timeline's replacement for LotF/FotJ. The desecration of the Fountain of Ancients, meant to (and does) lead to something that will distract the Republic, and the Klatooinians' subsequent nullification of the Treaty of Vontor leads to massive uprisings by many of the Hutts's vassals and slaves, and many others rejecting the Hutt Council's authority over them. The independent (and neutral wrt the Republic and Empire) nation of Tion ends up giving support to the rebellion, as does the Republic. Ultimately, the Hutt Servile Wars, while militarily inconclusive, end with a massive political defeat for the Hutt Council. They can't go back to the way things were before. Just like how when the Bourbons were restored after the Napoleonic Wars, they couldn't rule as absolute monarchs anymore.

True, but note how I said "*just* by pulling rank". The important thing about leadership, military or otherwise, is building a solid relationship with your subordinates. You don't have to be buddy-buddy, but you have to have some sense of mutual understanding. Sure, your subordinates are almost always obligated to follow your orders on account of your rank, but obedience based on rank is nothing compared to obedience based on to loyalty.

According to background material, the bomber squadron was all under Holdo's command before Poe got them all killed by disobeying Leia, which was a nuance that wasn't really presented on-screen. Out Now:
Luke Skywalker - Commander. Comes in the core set. He's mostly a beatstick commander, but not as beatstick as vader. Makes up for it by being more mobile and getting a ranged attack without spending extra points. Command cards are mostly about buffing allies but currently he is the only character who can truly double tap with one.

Rebel Soldiers - Corps unit. Core set and own ex-pack. Light infantry, good mobility. Weak defense die, but make the most of it with surge and ability to regen dodge tokens, so always hide behind cover or dodge or you will die. Z-6 Troops have solid max damage, but very swingy due to minimum dice mods for rebels. MPL Ion can stunlock enemy vehicles for fairly low comparative cost but is otherwise very useless.

AT-RT - Support. Core set and own ex-pack. One of the best Rebel Units. Good mobility, good offense, highly flexible due to hardpoint options. You can go full Anti-Armor, Anti-Infantry or in between and do good at it. They melt away like the morning dew to anti-armor weapons so be careful.

T-47 - Heavy. Ex-pack only. With the ability to ignore all but the highest terrain and highest speed, probably the most mobile unit in the game, decent anti-armor punch, solid defensive abilities not backed up by a particularly high health pool. Due to high cost probably not as efficient as running a couple of AT-RTs instead, but people are feverishly trying to make them work. A real "git gud" unit.

girlDog

Out May, Probably:

Leia Organa - Commander. Leia is a much cheaper commander at 90 points, and more support oriented. While she can do some scratch damage with her attacks to most units, her other keywords are aimed at making your guys less suppressed and giving everybody free nose candy I mean dodge tokens. She's also nimble with white die so treat her like a unit of Rebel Troopers. Don't know what her command cards all do yet.

Fleet Troopers - Corps unit. Close-quarters specialists with camping potential. They get more accurate when they overwatch which is good because they have a lot of white dice to roll, but less range than other troopers so they will die charging through no-man's land. Scatter gun trooper gives them more reliable damage at normal range. MPL Barrage will give them a decent distance attack or just in general allow them to shred light vehicles - probably.

Out July, Probably:

Han Solo - Commander. Mid-tier commander at 120 points. More of a fighter than Leia but not quite as punchy as Luke. Gets extra benefits from cover, gets to reroll his defensive dice and can plug two different units in one attack. Command cards seem fairly roguish, seizing initiative and controlling enemy aggro.

Rebel Commandos - Spec Force. Sneaky fuckers. Can move after being deployed. Ignore some enemy cover, and enhance their own cover like Han. You can use them as just sneaky fuck expensive infantry OR make them a small, two man weapon team for fairly cheap. Will have a Proton Grenade guy to set demo charges, and some sort of sniper. The set will let you run both types of unit card at once.

Nice. Can you do Imperial too?

It's accurate to the cross sections which seem dead set on being the exact opposite of Saxton and somehow manage to be worse.

I mean I could see those as its LEGAL "Treaty Battleship" armaments but I can't imagine Leia and Ackbar going into battle like that.

And they don't even bother obfuscating actual barrel count by saying batteries.

Verily.

Out Now:

Vader - Commander. Core set. Big V is the most expensive commander even before upgrades but a beast of a fighter. His damage potential and action efficiency, not just for himself but even for allies is crazy good, and he grants an immunity to Panic while close to him, and can't be suppressed. His defense is pretty good too when combined with Force Reflexes. His main drawback is cost, he means you'll be using less other units so you can be out-flanked by an enemy with more bodies, and if they can focus enough fire to kill him that's a big chunk of the list.

Stormtroopers - Corps Unit. Ex-pack and Core Set. Stormies have shitty guns, but use aim tokens well, and have solid defenses. With proper set up and focused fire they can hit pretty hard, and are less prone to being whittled than Rebs. Hands down have the best heavy weapons. DLT is accurate as hell, can scratch armor and has range. HH-12 can do big burst damage on armor, but is usually one-and-done.

Bikes - Support. Core and Ex-pack. Mobility kings, Speeder Bikes have great efficiency, a little bit of protection, and good mobility with Speeder. Doubled up, they have enough dice to hit big and do some damage with Impact 2, but if their Cover defense is removed they will die bad - and it doesn't take much to half your firepower by dropping a mini. Great at flanks and boom and zoom, don't let them stay close to enemies for long.

AT-ST - Heavy. Ex-pack only. Meatiest unit in the game, long range on a big gun, but will die from concentrated Impact fire. Soaks up a lot of points in your list to bring all the bells and whistles, this gives them some great engagement potential but can be easy to lose in the wrong circumstance. Will probably not get popular until Veers comes out.

Coming Out April, Probably

Veers - Commander. The pocket imperial commander. Same point cost as Leia - but shittier keywords ranks and attacks, but has a better Defense Die and his abilities mesh very well with with Stormies. Probably will have Command Cards to support vehicles. You will probably mostly use him to yell at your infantry to actually aim before they shoot, but he can plink at any Reb who comes too close to him too.

Snowtroopers - Corps unit. Slow boys, but great action efficiency with their steady ability. Can easily double-move and shoot or meerkat around. Same shitty stormie guns though. Their T-7 Ion gun will give them similar anti-vehicle abilities to the Rebel Ion trooper, but shittier attack dice. Real action is probably on the flamethrower, which will eat up a lot of enemy infantry if you can get close. Pair well with Vader as a fellow slow boy.

Coming out August, Probably

Commander 3 and Imperial Special forces. No idea on what, but Scout Troopers have been promised since GenCon.

I wonder if scholars in the Star Wars universe ever bemoan the fact that their civilization has been at an intellectual standstill for thousands of years.

Melee weapons became a lot less common as standard issue military weapons over the millennia, judging from Tales of the Jedi and Jedi vs. Sith.

It really hasn't been. Just because we don't see any major gamechangers doesn't mean that there aren't innovations all over the place in other fields that we don't focus on.

But on the other hand, much of their tech is on a much higher level so of course it's going to seem like they're on a sort of plateau - even if they really aren't as much as it looks like they are.

Commander 3 and Special Forces could/should be Krennic and Death Troopers.

Sure, they said Scout Troopers in August, but it'd be very FFG/Davey to wave that away as'Well they're on the bikes!'

Just because we don't see any major gamechangers
The jump from kolto to bacta was a pretty notable shift. The time period spanning the Clone Wars to Galactic Civil War also showed distinct developments in infantry armor, walker tech, hyperdrive tech, naval and starfighter doctrine, and ship design. 300,000 credits during the Clone Wars would get you an Eta-2 with merely slightly superior performance to the 75,000 credit TIE Interceptor, for instance.

squadron name
Chimera squadron, but they also refer to themselves as the Battlecrows
fighters used
Uglies. They've gotten good at salvaging parts from old battlefields and raiding supply shipments for vital supplies. They recently acquired a flight of a-wings, so the flight leaders have been retraining on them. Thanks to the limitations of their ships, they usually target lightly armed and shielded supply ships. During larger operations, they'll stick to the edges of battles, picking off already wounded fighters.
We fight for the rebellion. Stuck out on the outer rim, we utilize a pair of GR-75 medium transports, 1 for carrying the fighters and repair parts, and the other for personel transport. For the most part, we're forced to operate on our own, and very rarely receive actual orders from rebellion command
distinctive markings
Their unit insignia, such as it is, is a stylized chimera, a mongrel of a creature possessing the parts of sefveral monsters
noteworthy pilots
"Chimera 1", or Scraphound as he's known to his friends, is, in addition to being the best pilot in the 'Crows, a very skilled scrounger. He is solely responsible for keeping the squadron in the air, and there were several instances where the only reason they were mission capable was because he was able to jury-rig enough equipment to get his squadron in the air. Most of the other pilots are quite skilled if only because the general quality of their ships require them to be.

They were initially the squadron that I cooked up as a gm when my players wanted to play as rebel pilots, but when that campaign fell apart as they usually do, the characters sort of took on a life of their own

Got sent down to /trash/ because Mods decided it was being smote for Rebels being off season despite the comics and cartoon still coming out for SW.
I'd say "brave it if you dare cross that land" but there's no content on there anyways, even attempts to get conversations started fizzle out despite decently high poster counts.

Based upon the following videos:
youtu.be/_gQjYHKChEg
youtu.be/UokFlF5MPL0
The approximate kill/death ratio for the Resistance is 1,940:1
Counting just the protagonists, including Better Sister (and begrudgingly including Holdo in that statement) for whom the majority (if not near-entirety) of these kills are responsible, the k/d is approximately 711,000:1.

Also A-Wing Waifu was counted as a notable loss, so make of that what you will.

I'm guessing the majority was Starkiller and the Supremacy?

VisualMaster

As with all the movies yeah, the ships are the big number makers.
Though I should specify that's JUST TLJ, not including Starkiller or anything from TFA which would bump the numbers up to even more ludicrous degrees.
