So I’m confuzzled here. What from legions of Nagash are the “good” armies? Originally I kept seeing people say pure bone zone grand host, then I saw people shilling legion of sacrament, then a thread blew up and some user was preaching zombie dragons, and now I’m hearing that the only good from it is running Skelepope and his bouncers. Is this just /aosg/ being autistic as usual and it’s all good, or what?
That's the thing with Legions. People are still find the meta for it. So far, these are the good lists >Bonezone grand host/Sacrament with overwhelming boners >Legion of Blood dragonspam >First Cohort in general >Lords of Sacrament + Necromancer spam
There's also the great debate on whether Corpse Carts are worth it or not. Or if Black Knights work better than Hexwraiths. It's a new book, after all.
So I got a game/demo night tomorrow at my LGS and I have a question. I got a real chance to get AoS into Warhammer Wednesdays especially since there will be a few spectators who want to watch the game unfold. My only problem is that person who I'm facing and actively wants to try the game out with does not have an army, leaving me to make a list for him. I got a mix of Nurgle and skaven to build a 1000 point army for him. However considering my dwarf collection is a bit more well rounded I'm afraid I might make a list that out performs his. So I ask what would be fair and balanced way to introduce him to the game, any units I should flat out not bring into my list so I can ensure that it will be a fair match for him? Or should I just stop worrying and just make one?
Here's the slapdash list I whipped up for him, hopefully the warmachines will give him enough ranged punch. Also I was thinking of keeping it simple by having both of us just start with GA abilities and artifacts, rather than going into specific army allegiances.
Would you rather had the death soup we had before?
Jason Murphy
>Playing armies that are "Good" >Not playing stupid armies you love like your children Y?
Evan Nguyen
Raven haired qts with blue eyes are a personal favorite
but lets get a blonde squad
Cooper Johnson
I love Legion of sacrament because skelebro and cool conversion opportunities. I’m just curious what people are using. I also play pure skaven pestilens.
Jaxson Price
You can do Lords of Sacrament in any Legion technically, but you'll get more out of it in LoS with all of the defensive artifacts and the +1 to cast.
Brandon Morgan
Yeah, I hear people complaining that most of the spells are debuffs, but really if you freeze a unit on the spot of halve their charges, it just makes reaching them with a disgusting amount of skeletons a bit easier. How many necromancers do you recommend? I’m trying to convert each of mine to be their own unique character, and I’m running out of ideas
I've been convinced that Sacrament is the best (re: most competitive) Legion, and here's why.
Take Deathmarch. 40/20/10 on the skeletons.15 Knights and 30 Grave Guard. Throw in 4 Necromancers. First turn your Knights are flying 22" for a first turn charge with Danse Macaroni directly into something meaty. And your skeletons get a +7" move in the hero phase as long as they stick with the King.
Have you used wizards from the empire battle wizards box? Pic related, a wizard I converted into a 'necromancer' when I made an undead legions casket of souls back in the end times
Yeah, I saw your post and liked your dude. Is the skull from the skull pack or just from the kit?
Still a gorgeous model you’ve got there
Matthew Mitchell
40 skeletons and at least one Necromancer is the bare minimum for any list imo. So you're good. Consider getting the Blood Queen box. It's got pretty much every staple a Death player needs aside from Horses.
Liam Roberts
Hop in Skele and spook bous; we're pickin up some souls tonight.
Uh, I can't remember. It's one or the other. With a lot of shaving and filing.
Landon Long
Jesus christ. Worlds most expensive corpse cart.
Jason Barnes
I keep seeing dire wolf hype. Considering them as well just for a speedy outrider unit. For 1000 points I wanna use 3 necromancers, 40 skeletons, a Mortis Engine, and some other stuff
Lincoln Richardson
So what are the odds for a new updated beastmen army?
Kayden Davis
I actually have the mantic skeletons (like I said, i’m Cheap) while I slowly accumulate the GW ones, and someone here suggested making a necromancer on a cart being pulled by the skeleton rats
Pretty low, unfortunately. I have a feeling they're not really even meant to be in Chaos, yknow? They're more Destruction.
Isaac King
I'm thinking a cart converted out of a Hurricanum, filled with bones and trinkets and is basically an unholy altar to necromancy. Might use my extra wight king model and paint him like a statue.
Ryder Phillips
>sort out yr mouldlines killer necros here though, well done dudes
Yeah yeah I'll get around to it. I'm glad he was in as good as shape as he was. I found him in a bottom of a box in in my closet from my 6th edition empire days.
Luke Ross
Giant army when?
Benjamin Jenkins
Help? I checked both pdf and don't know where to look
My IoB prince on a griphon couldn't play in 8th so he deserves a chance here
Aaron Clark
Ogres are both little giants, and giant halflings
Jose Taylor
Straight people vote Eye
Robert Wright
It's in the Spire of Dawn booklet, should be in Mega.
Daniel Stewart
very greatful
Adam Clark
Straight up retards maybe.
Jason Diaz
Arcanites.
Gabriel Price
Make the list and then give him your Dwarfs and you play as dirtybois.
Cameron Hall
Don't forget to take your estrogen pills, snookums!
Jaxson Flores
So from what I am noticing armies seem to work with bound very broadly on the grand alliance ex. Bretts in theory could march with snekwaifus or on a very narrow level like the Order Draconis.
So how are armies best put together? And how do alligences work?
You're the one who needs estrogen, it'll help your vagina regrow after it's been ripped out by big drake chad dick.
David Sanchez
But they are. You've got a wide selection of Gor, from standard infantry to elites on disks to heroes. Plus the Ogroid which is a bestial ogor warped by the same sort of magical mutation that create Beastmen in the Realms. You can even play pretty damn close to a pure Gor army by focusing on Tzaangors.
Xavier Thomas
>Mfw reading Auction of Blood >That Chaos Dwarf that is covered in robes so no one recognizes him as he claims a Hashut idol at the auction
Is this hints of Furnace Kings/Chaos Dwarf army soon?
lmao no you dumb autist. Chaos Dwarfs are just a shitty forgeworld faction with garbage rules and no chance of a battletome
Robert Martin
No.
Justin Morales
>In the same book that a malal bible amd Bretonnian wine is mentioned Nope.
Jayden Price
Hey there we go! Thanks user
Jose Nelson
whoops meant to respond to
Nathaniel Russell
>Black Library >Meaning shit
Asher Roberts
>Frostlord kills archaon in one turn >friend refuses to fight me anymore
Mason Price
Is Knight of Shrouds any good? I'd expect it to be pretty powerful for 35$.
Cameron Roberts
That sure would be nice.
Juan Price
Do you run Nighthaunt? >If yes Haha, you're retarded, but it is it good. >If no There's really no reason to buy it.
Mason Cruz
i keep seeing this around but they've always been described as the Children of Chaos, created when chaos entered the old world, living in the chaos wastes, used as front lines/fodder by chaos armies etc. They are too Chaotic to not be part of the chaos factions. How many times can you say Chaos in one paragraph?
Jaxon Hill
>your friend thinks archaon is good yikes
Nathaniel Gomez
Even with the recent buff?
Henry Allen
In the Mortal Realms? True. In Warhammer Fantasy? You couldn't be any less correct. Hell, even Dragon Ogres would probably fit better in Destruction in the Mortal Realms given how little actual fluff is given to them. Several of the legacy factions belong in their respective Grand Alliances because of old lore, and without that to put things into context, they're basically only in those Grand Alliances because of getting grandfathered in. An actual update to those lines could easily see them moved elsewhere, but that won't happen.
Asher Bell
Those are gay wizardmen slaves tho.
Jonathan Johnson
For those of you who utilize self control and go by the rule of "Don't buy minis when you still have some to paint", how strict are you on that? In my case, I'm still working on my start collecting box and went ahead and bought some more minis to get myself a little closer to 1k. Is that reasonable to you or do you guys strictly only buy models after what you have is finished even if it's not a ready to play army?
Does the Malign Portents books have a PDF? epub a shit
Adrian Green
So long as you're still slowly reducing the number of unpainted models you need to work through, you're fine. If you've got thirty guys and paint fifteen, you can justify buying another ten. Either that or buy everything you need at once, then be damn sure you don't get anything else until they're finished.
Kevin Cruz
Not sure if this is what you meant but I just bought the Collegiate Arcane. Not sure if I'm really going to need 4 Necromancers but I think it's a decent future proofing buy since no matter what, I'm going to need some Necros if I'm playing Death.
I posted a few days about finally deciding to give it another real go after failing to even paint half the starter box a year ago, I glued and primed all the chaos dudes in red and just gave them a dark wash so that they are just not-grey.
Now I'm starting up with my remaining Sigmarines. The Liberators I posted before are all done and this dude was primed from last year so I decided to start with him.
I've fucked up a few things like not doing the shoulders first but so far but I think things are going okayish for how little experience I have.
p.s. the red on the foot is just from a red lamp that I didn't realise was casting over that part of my table
Michael Sanders
That's not a Chaos Dwarf though
Dominic Sullivan
Who was it? Everything about it seems to imply it was
Nolan Carter
Probably never, with Skaven now serving as chaos fodder, warheads aren’t all that special. Beastmen are probably gonna get rolled into mono-god lists that work for both AoS and 40k, with the tzaanagors being the first iteration of them. Pestigors and bloodgors have already been mentioned in 40k fluff so they’ll probably appear at some point. Warherds will likely be left in the dust while their monsters get rolled into destruction armies
Ryder Ramirez
How the hell do his shoulders move? He'd just hit his small decorations against the big one.
Carter Brooks
They don't, it's like the old school batman suit where he just moves his whole torso
Brody Wood
So Slaanesh isn't dead, but being tortured in a magic Black Site.
Yeah we've known that Slaanesh was a prisoner since Age of Sigmar came out. We just uave more details now. At no point did it even imply Slaanesh was dead.
Noah Evans
Some fucking creep it's a magical underground auction his height was never mentioned either
Grayson Sanders
You realize that this only means you lose your whole army instead of half of it.
We lost the moment we killed the seers and are continuing to lose because we don't think about shit before we do them.
Kevin Cook
But it mentions his mask had Duardin like runes carved in it
Anthony Barnes
I figure the "Strike a Deal" choice is a trick, some kind of trojan horse, get close to Nagash and strike bullshit. Trapping your rivals is everyone starts infighting and rescue them just gets more of your guys stuck.
Ryder Mitchell
So? I'm all for jumping at ghost and making implications it's all I do but I feel like that's a stretch
Probably maybe involves the processes of how Stormcast are picked out
I'm mean who best to consult on that then the God of magic and reasoning?
I don't know
David Brown
This
>kill the seers, the one guys who would have lead you directly to what's going on >run around the realms like chickens with your heads cut off, chasing every new event and going after the most bloody option >throw yourself at the citadel of the realm of the dead, a place so redolent with death magic that it literally turns any mortal who tries to enter into dust >be surprised when this turns out bad >now decide to either jump into prison-hell, or turn on your rivals to knock them in >all while Nagash watches in amazement at how stupid mortals are
Dread Solstice stopped being about preventing Nagash's plan weeks ago. Now it's just a question of how many people are going to live to see it play out.
It's either that or going full Knight of Shrouds, but at least you'd get out. Considering this is the last chapter of Dread Solstice, I don't see Drake or Eye going anywhere positive for the guys choosing it. I'm looking forward to how badly it turns out.
I liked that the armies barely got to "We can see Nagashizzar on the horizon!" before getting trapped. They never even made the walls.
Christopher Baker
If I remember correctly, Teclis helped weave the spell around Azyr that clouded it from the chaos gods sight while sigmar made the stormcasts, so even tzeentch would be surprised when they were finally revealed and the gods would know nothing about how they were created
Ethan Martinez
>Skaven have a gnawhole into Sigmar's throneroom Hahah God-thing thinks he was hidden!
Joseph James
Dumb rats
Logan Reyes
Dumb man-thing.
Christian Cooper
And you still get anons thinking that they're THIS close to stopping Nagash here and now, when the've been crippling themselves for weeks and didn't even get near the main city. While it isn't a total victory since Skull won't win, I can't see this going any way but a major victory for Nagash with a weakened mortal realms going into whatever comes after Dread Solstice.
Connor Morris
First of all how has nobody checked this sub string Smh
And I first called it months ago that the worst options are gonna be picked the majority of the time
limiting your unit choices to those with certain keywords can make units battleline when they otherwise wouldnt be normally. Sometimes picking certain combinations of units and paying a prescribed points fee will unlock additional rules for those units. failing those options simply select the appropriate minimum units of battleline of your choice from your desired grand alliance and fill out the remaining points available with units of your choice from the same grand alliance. Be mindful of leader and behemoth limitations that are based on the overall size of your force.
Whole lot of dubs of truth. Checking these as well.
But really you could tell Dread Solstice was going to go to shit right away when GW was absolutely baffled at player's dumbass decision to kill off all the seers. That's literally killing the canary that'll let you know there's gas in the mine.
