The project is still in the early stages of development. The early stages of any project are very code-heavy - particularly working out the application logic and backend framework - and there’s not a lot to “show off”. Early February will be the first time we can start showing off some of the project’s graphic design and codebase.
In addition, we’ve had to work through some potential issues now that ETH’s network is becoming more expensive and has slowed down so much. Initially, the plan was to create a new smart contract for every user-seeder in order to transfer UFR between them - but if there are more than 5-10 or so seeders this would end up costing the user several dollars. Obviously that is not ideal. As a result, we are looking at having the user pay only 1 transaction fee and then each individual seeder will cover the transaction fees when they claim their earnings from the smart contract.
All this said, there will be another Medium update in the coming days to map out what we have planned for the next month or two. Stay tuned!
Yes, another listing is planned to go live in approximately 2 weeks from now if all goes well. That listing will likely include both UFR/BTC and UFR/ETH markets.

How many times have you tried to torrent something only to find no one seeding it? This solves that. Also certain illegal things people may not be willing to seed without compensation. Also this makes tormenting almost completely anonymous.

that's a shallow perspective. torrenting is not just about getting things for free. part of the reason people torrent in the first place is because it's easy. digital content is scattered across a range of middle-men service providers. this would allow content creators to distribute their product directly to consumers with no middleman. there would be no reason to have to steal, because it would be so cheap. also, you could combine filesharing with blockchain publishing. nodes would be incentivized to seed the most legitimate files, and creators would get paid directly.
Torrenting is still popular but now there are acutal companies who profit on tracking seeders and blackmailing them for money unless they wanna go to court. That is why if you want to torrent popular tv shows for example, it's better to have a VPN, so your ip can't be tracked. VPN though costs money so you torrenting is no longer free
With UFR enables more privacy so you don't have to pay for VPN anymore. It's that simple.
