Honestly, bitcoin may see some sort of crazy resurrection sometime later this year. A resurrection great enough to make alt-believers keep a decent percentage of their portfolio in bitcoin again (just like the old times). I think you'll be ok user. Stupid gains are awaiting you this year though, so $5000 won't be much to you at that point.

Really the only real threat to bringing BTC down and keeping it down right now is XRP. If Ripplenet gets widespread adoption by the financial institutions, BTC will be ground into the dirt. If this happens, it doesn't happen this year, so you should be safe. Right now money tansfer services and banks are somewhat wary of crypto because regulations have not yet caught up with the tech (as is always the case with emerging technology).
