depends on where you live. In NY where I am I know plenty of people who've applied for unemployment after leaving a job a month ago. They only care if you're attempting to find work.

That doesn't sound like that great of a plan though because right after you make a little profit, you're back at square one and you'll have even less in your holding by then. Rinse wash and repeat.
