Both. Buy it at a reasonable price, doesn't have to be next all time low but still cheap, and hold. With small alt coins you can do a bit more daytrading and make quick profits. Luck plays a little role but you can't go wrong with BTC, ETC and LTC desu. Alts are a bit of a gamble but just listen what the flavour of the month coin on Veeky Forums is (FUN, LINK, etc).
Crypto right now is 100 times less complicated than the stock market but also 100 times more profitable (in the short run).
