Apart from that, if there is a limited supply in a growing market, demand will increase the price just naturally. E.g. if BNTY establish a global marketplace for people to "trade" bounties and BNTY is used as the means of payment, it's only natural that the worth will increase with the number of participants. Make no mistake, that's not a ponzi scheme, it's just the same which would happen in the "real" world if the dollar was a somewhat limited resource but the population keeps increasing. Same with any other resource, really.
And apart from THAT, people don't even need much of a reason to spend money on internet stuff that has no existence in the real world, e.g. paying actual money for some weapon skin in COD or some funny hats for in-game characters. That's a billion-dollar market just as well, and you don't even get any real-life effects in return (contrary to the mentioned example with BNTY).
