The Link tokens have two main purposes: staking (two kinds) and payment.
Staking is by nature a very low-intensity system, while payment will likewise have relatively low intensity since the payments for long-term contracts or collaborations can be done in batches at certain intervals.
ETH will do fine.
Plus, ETH has tons of upgrades in the pipeline.
