I don't think blockchain.info lets you use private keys. Get a light wallet that doesn't need to sync with the blockchain. I hear Breadwallet is decent for iOS, and I've used mycelium on my android phone without trouble. Otherwise check out bitcoin.org for a list of wallets that don't need the blockchain. Make sure to get a BCC wallet too, 13.77 bitcoin cash amount to an extra 25 grands.

Without more details it is hard to say, but generally electrum is pretty quick with syncing if you import your private keys to that. Keep in mind that your old desktop wallet is likely very unsecure so don't even use it on an internet connected computer.

you have two ways to do it faster, second is the faster of the two

1. find an up to date bitcoin bootstrap and download it
2. export private keys and import them into an online wallet. i'm pretty sure blockchain.info lets you import private keys but if not just about any wallet that's not bitcoin core should support it.

to get your private key goto help>debug window>console
type dumpprivkey followed by the wallet address. if your wallet is not encrypted it will reveal your private key. don't show it to anyone obviously.

After you dump your Bitcoin off to other wallets can I get those old private keys? Also, yes, you can absolutely import the private keys to blockchain.info, but I recommend moving the coins off of your old HDD and into a hardware wallet with new addresses to support segwit.

Just do it with blockchain app or else you'll lose precious time syncing. Make a paper wallet offline with bitaddress or a similar platform, create a new blockchain.info acc (you don't want your e-mail associated with this transfer) then sync the private key and transfer to your new paper wallet. This is the fastest way.
