Having pennies worth of tether is much better than having some alts, it's mainly for USfriends avoiding tax stuff.

Here's what I see happening:

>People gradually move from USDT to DAI and other stablecoins
>No one ever finds out that Tether was a scam
>Everything turns out OK
If bitfinex refuses to do an audit, which is what they are doing, then everything turns out OK. They aren't in US jurisdiction so no one can make them do shit. All the US can do would be to force US exchanges to stop listing USDT pairs.

TL;DR: Bitfinex still accepts wire transfers, just like Polo and Bittrex. All these exchanges credit these wire transfers in USDT instead of USD.
I could see it playing out this way, though I'd honestly like to see Tether imploding and dragging this whole market down with it. I'm a latecomer, so I'd welcome the chance to accumulate in an extended bear market.
