Thinking of buying pic related for some HDD mining, thoughts?
HDD mining

nigger
show me your workings
Thats one of the most beautiful things ive ever seen.
I mean, can you imagine how long it would take me to fill that with anime porn?
not very long desu
OH JESUS I NEED A SOURCE FOR THIS NOW
workings?
explain yourself
at least a week
You can get a 4TB Hard drive for around $100, for $7599 you can get around 300 TB of storage.
Little bitch planet.
wouldn't that bottleneck though?
can you point me in the right direction for some cheaper stuff
Got him
Hes a great artist.
so like 2-3yrs of non stop mining to get back in it?
How does the mining work? Does it rely on disk speed or what?
You can make a network attach storage and put your hard drives in there, no bottle neck if you set it up properly with properly
NemuNemu is the best
It's actually much faster like 70*faster than a normal HDD and HDD mining also needs fast transfer speeds
your calculations that identified this as a good idea
That price is just the normal price
Its because of Thunderbolt, if you get a port with it then you will get similar speeds. You should be doing this with all NAS.
Building your NAS is always better and cheaper than buying a prebuilt one like in op picture. That one is just too much for the price.
Also no its uses a 7200 RPM hard drive so its just a normal speed hard drive. All it says is the cap of the speed not the actual speed when it says "up to 1350MB/s" a hard drive can't run that fast. Only if you've got an SSD or higher tier like NVMe
no disk space but transfer rates affects it so I assume more HDDs connected in series would make it less efficient
so who is right? This setup or more cheaper ones?
with that its like $250 a month at the current burst price but i'm doing it with the prediction that more coins will start being proof of capacity coins (greener, less energy costs etc.), as well as the expectation that the burst price will grow
what the fuck are you niggers talking speed, what coin is speed a factor?
why don't you just buy 8 grand worth of coins now if you expect the price to grow?
Do your research if you don't know
ok thanks, I'll just build my own, could you please give me a quick rundown on what I would need to buy to build such a setup? Point me in the direction of some sort of guide? I have only been trading since late december but have made 2000% gains and want something less volatile
this counts as my research, I don't trust reddit with my money
proof of capacity
why don't you just buy the coins now user
So you're doing burstcoin mining, you don't need anything special, speed isn't going to be much of a factor here so I'd recommend getting a server case that can hold something like over something like 20 hard drives, a server motherboard that has lots of sata ports. thats it, obviously you need cpu and heatsink but it won't matter which one you'll get
because I like the idea of getting a stable amount of money each month and not having to monitor charts all day, I can put my miner towards other coins as well so it is always useful
thanks user
No psu desu?

You can't really use the argument "i think the price will rise" when making this decision. If you think the price will rise you could have spent the money on buying the coin instead. And if you think the price will grow naturally then there is an argument against mining since you could buy at the lowest price now.
it would take years to break even meanwhile storage costs are coming down... why not put the money in a fucking term deposit and by 8TB off the interest in 3 years
fair enough, I think I'll just stay trading then, it has worked so far. Why do people even mine if it is such a shit deal?
Do they even still make 10,000 rpm hard drives?
