Need help Monetizing a website

Hi biz. I recently made a new website and I'm just brainstorming ideas/nontraditional ways to bring revenue to this website.

What is the website? Website is an alternative to youtube. What is the difference? Unlike, youtube, i do not plan on censoring content which i dont agree with. That being said i dont have ability to add video prerolls to to my html5 player. I sure as hell doubt youtube will let me use adsense, as they censor everyone.

For my content creators, i told them act like a television station, and find their own advertisers. Example: if someone has a gun channel and Big 5 guns wants to have them wear a big 5 tshirt, godspeed (i dont take share of profit). But that takes care of the content creators, and not the platform itself.

Right now the website runs off of donations. Its self sustaining now, but i see as network traffic increases, that my self sustaining model will no longer be self sustaining. I also am very against using any analytic software that is not proprietary to my website. I do this so that the site has 0 trackers. I even removed facebook login, because i dont want mark spying on me.

How can i monetize the site? I thought about doing banner ads, but im not sure if those are profitable in 2018.

You could try to sell ad space the traditional way, but it may be harder to find people.
I used to run a few sites and used alternatives to AdSense.
They still paid good but were a bit difficult to get registered on.
I'm interested to know more and would be willing to talk off of here on e-mail

I am ok with it being harder to sell advert space. My youtube like website puts freedom of speech first. I am willing to put revenue aside to stick to my principle.

You could have an ico for it. Could you integrate crypto into it? If so have an ico.

Not everything needs and ICO. Starting and ICO would be a headache of its own, unless i really had urge to rip off naive people of their investment dollars. I just want to run a simple website. D Tube is a youtube that uses crypto, but i find their content to be shit. also, why crypto for advertising, why not just dollars. cuts out a whole step

Fine by you. Stay poor. You're shitty website isn't gonna make it without the capital. YouTube offers its services completely free and they losing billions providing server and storage costs. Go ahead wannabe. If you never try you'll never know.

As someone who been working in software for 20+ years, you dont need to be making capital up front. The traffic to the website alone is worth something. Just because google adsense makes it easy for people to put adverts in their content/site, doesnt mean that they are the only platform. Take analytics for example. I am able to pull ALL my own analytics from my server without google analytics.

No i've looked into BAT token. I appreciate the theory but im not convinced. I rather sell my advertistments for Siacoin if get my drift. I'll stick to good old Dollars
