Think about not paying off your house right away - market prices in a lot of countries are at all-time highs, what you could do instead is set up an index fund and pay your mortgage through the profits. It's very hard to ever get $400K and it could do so much work for you with the compound interest

I feel the same way on occasion, I made great gains last November December and now the last month and at best breakeven, so I feel boths ides of it.
