It's true. When you short the max you can do is double your money (+100% unless you are trading margin), while your potential losses are unbounded. This is compared to when you buy your gains are unbounded and the most you can lose is all your money (-100%).

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that shorting BTC on bitmex doesn't work like shorting a regular stock. I think on bitmex you only lose what you put in (when you e stopped out).
We need confirmation of this from some of the high level autism around here.
