What was it like getting your first big raise?

What was it like getting your first big raise?

>First job out of uni, 45k
>Fuck the low pay, it's experience
>5% raise first year, disappointed
>Next year boss says he doesn't want to give me a raise
>Enough
>Get a job somewhere else, same role, for 75k
>Overhear the bosses complaining that they can't find a good replacement

So good

what job user?

Business analyst

>fresh grad
>$45k
>low pay

You're doing better than most m8.

Hah! Same here but in software. 55k out of the uni. The only developer in the company. First year raise 60k. Not happy.

Got a job at a respectable company. 120k in Seattle :)))))))))) FUUUUKKKK UUUUUU HOUSTON

That's 45 Australian, so 0.8

No raise but got my first career related job, starting tomorrow. Even had to cancel a flight for this because I totally wasn't expecting myself to get in.

I just hope they'll be patient with me as I'm just a student and probably wont know as much as the grads

nobody here has a job, only crypto

hi bruno

I unironically made more money last week than you make in a year

@7547897
>Makes 6 figures a year
>Spends his time arguing with shitposters on Veeky Forums
Sure things, boss

I haven't finished my education yet. However the entry salary for my line of work is 65k with a cap of about 110k. Which I'm pretty happy with desu.

I'm fairly sure he's talking about cashing out crypto

Majored in English, was jobless for a long time, now 6 years after graduating I make 45k

Hoping for free money from crypto

Kinda blue collar worker here, without actually having to lift heavy shit or touch smelly/dirty things.
Make bout 40k a year. 2% raise every year eh

Average for my graduating class was $65K. I am only making $40K. Shit such, I barely have anything to throw into the crypto slot machine.

>started my job in 2012 making $16/hr
>now at $20

Nothing to support a family with or anything but it beats working in fast food desu

I doubled my salary in 2 years by changing job 4 times, while my friends be a good goy and stay in a company for 4 fucking years with minimum raise. Fucking cucks.

Good for you, OP

Thanks.

Interesting to hear of such rapid job changes, was the raise each time roughly equal? What's the story?

I got an open source repo going pretty well on github and a pretty good linkedin profile, so job offers keep flowing into my email I don't even have to find new one. All they ask is why am I never stay in a company for more than a year. I just tell them honestly that if I got a better offer, I will leave. As simple as that.

Cool sounds like a good place to be.

Thanks, good luck, user

Holy shit I really gotta start building repos. Tired of fixing taximeters.

>work to pay for college at the bookstore, got some work-study award as part of financial aid
>first raise was $8.25 to $8.50
>first job out of college was paying a comfy $45k, had to commute for 1 hour each way
>after a year got a raise to $60k
>after two years found a great job making $110k
>three years later at same company making $140k with a expected promotion this year
>looking to switch companies for higher pay if possible

2% is sub inflation, hope you've got your next move planned

Role?

I dont feel comfortable sharing, but I'm an individual contributor, not a manager. The "hard work is rewarded" meme is real. Its trivially easy to do more work than the average pleb who puts in the absolute minimum. That results in getting valuable work and high recommendations. For example, I leveraged a recommendation from my time as a cashier clerk to land my current job years later. The other piece of advice I give is to put in a lot of time having a polished resume because first impressions really matter.

Must suck being a NEET.

that 60k in texas is about 120k in seattle desu

i hope you learned something here
never settle alway keep looking

Kek

>Boss said he can't give me a bigger raise then the company guidelines. Aspecting I would leave it with that.
>Go to the talent development guy in HR, tells him my boss REALLY REALLY wants to give me a raise. HR guy tells me my manager just need to fill out a form (and hand the form to me)
>Fill in the form fully, stalk my manager for 3 weeks until he signed them.

Learned a valuable lesson, if you don't push it you don't get it.

>Pole
>22
>went from 24 to 48 to 105 to 170 gross a year in 3 years due to promotions and raises, changed jobs twice

Median pay is around 35k gross a year in Poland. When you work in tech your pay is godlike

> proces operator apprentice
> went from 15 dollars as a last year apprentice to 28 dollars once employed
> Overtime is now base salary +18 dollars an hour + shift extra salary pr hour worked overtime
> Made teamleader, only 1,5 extra pr hour worked, but immunity to layoffs plus added authority + extra meetings = more overtime more than makes up for the hassle of being the whiplasher of grumpy boomers 20 years my senior

Kek median poland have an annual pay of around 18k usd.

What kind of job do you have?

You didn’t make it if you didn’t actually cash out

op did you do an internship for biz/analyst. realizing now this is probably a realistic career for me. iv got a year left of uni, advice? (any good companies always looking for new uni analysts etc)

I went from $250 per month at my first shit job to $3000 today. Yes I'm a third worlder, I freelance for American companies, now trying to learn crypto to take another big step.

35k gross PLN, 11k usd

Java dev

Went from $40K(Au) as a Graphic Designer to $110k(Au) as a Digital Marketer within 5 years. Trying to be agile and move with the demand.

Working as doctor for 20 000 $/year in Europe , analyzing crypto in free time

have a godly good gpa, relevant major(s), and get an internship by yesterday. if you don't have a relevant internship then first two is essential.

if you want to do the fun biz analyst get ready for 12+ hour workdays but telling yourself it's worth it when your bank gives you the large deposit notification every 2 weeks.

then you convince you're living the good life by browsing the news listening to socialists complaining about their poverty wages and NEETS/blue collars whining about shitty opportunities

cheers
