my RSI only fails me when a bad event happens to the coin im trying, ie nano bitgrail event, I bought when it was underbought and got dumped on.

Each transaction is taxed separtely, with no regard to each other transaction, only calculating the CG on each trade. Even if you are in the negative overall for the year (reporting a loss), you are taxed for CG just trying to break even.
