I remember the day Skyrim came out (Nov 11, 2011) I was hyping bitcoin on /v/ telling people they could use it to buy a VPN so that they could connect to Steam from Japan and download the game as soon as it turned midnight there and get it early
I really tried so hard to make Veeky Forums rich
I gave it my best guys
And here you are talking about faggot alts called ChainLink and literally Ripple and faggot bcash and faggot ethereum and you're just going to be poor forever
It breaks my fucking heart
Easton Phillips
tell me master, what I need to buy now ?
Asher Young
So, you a millionaire now? Since I assume you took your own advice and put at least a couple of thousand dollars into bitcoin in 2011?
Kayden Hernandez
just buy bitcoin and wait for it to hit a quarter million before you even consider selling it
technically, but i've never sold a bitcoin and wont for at least another 15X
Don't trade, don't sweat it. I've known so many people that had over a thousand coins. So few still do. Just buy and live your life for a few years. If we're right Bitcoin will survive and very likely no other coin will.
I can't explain this simply on Veeky Forums but I'm right. More accurately, Ludwig von Mises wuz right.
Money has an extreme pressure towards consolidation. If there were no laws in Mexico to force you to use the peso, then the dollar would swamp the country over night. Money has extreme pressures for consolidation to the point that you need armies and police and judges and jails to ensure that your money isn't swamped by other money with superior qualities.
There are no jails, no laws, no armies in crypto. One will win.
Liam Sullivan
i was around /b/ and /v/ from 06-09, think i fucked off Veeky Forums for a whole two years, came back to /tv/ in 2012. what a life, missed the prime bitcoin shill years. think i would have been smart enough to keep at least a couple without selling off the whole stash
Mason Phillips
to add to that anywhere you googled bitcoin, it was doubters. i'm sure the buttcoin site (not the subreddit) was one of the top results. i remember the top results being overly technical and confusing as hell, would have been nice to hear an alternative point of view at that time.
Jacob Adams
but master, BTC is traceable and is not fungible. You become easy target. Its utility is negligible.
BTC at the moment is just a settlement layer, a unit of account for the exchanges. And it will be replaced by other better coins even for that.
BTC is relic, that of course might be worth a lot. But master BTC will not help the people, it will help only the few BTC holder.
Are we not here to do good ? Why shill this pathetic ancient coin that is no good. Why not actually build a crypto economy that makes the seller sell more and the buyers buy more and stake kill.
Grayson Perez
faggot buttcoin larping
1: if youre telling the truth you should have been working on some way to get more bitcoins when they were cheap instead of whiteknighting Veeky Forums becuz u care
2:technology isn't money dumb fuck, there will be forks there will be hacks there will be technological breakthroughs
you best believe mexicans would use dollars DESPITE HURRR DURR GUNS AND JUNGLES if pesos were written with crayon so a baby could counterfeit them
so either way, youre literally a retarded buttcoiner trying to convince himself he did the right thing by not selling ATH
Gavin Jenkins
I got in at 15 bought abunch of bomb molly and forgot about it until it was 1200. Kinda wish I believed in it more than I believed it was untraceable eBay drug money
Juan Bailey
crypto is a socialist's dream a currency by the people for the people
Nathaniel Martin
good points, honestly
fungability is the #1 issue in my mind
best I can say is that better coins will need to be able to meet bitcoin's monetary policy (which is technically perfect) and if something like that comes along and bitcoin is unable to integrate its features, then I'll likely buy it
I make a game out of attempting to buy ATHs actually. We're giving out medals to all the chads that bought ATHs on the way to a million dollar coin. I have terrible market timing on my buys though and only managed to get within 5% of an ATH once in 2013.
Honestly when you're up as much as I am you stop caring about 50% drops. You probably won't believe me. I've seen about 20 40% drops, one 90% drop, three 65's. It's hard to get emotional over.
Riding through all this will literally change your perspective on everything. It will turn you in a stoic, calmer, person and that will show up in other parts of your life.
Carson Wright
i stopped caring about money but I want to help you poor fellow 4channers
you fucking larping POS....oh i have 100m, fuck turning it into 200m though by selling the highs and lows, thats too much work
kys
Kayden Young
also i dont give a fuck about your gay IChangedAsAPersonAndGrew bullshit, kys,
you didn't address my point about technology your literally some dude from the 90s who bought AOL before everyone else and now is sucking up the smell of his own shit after the internet exploded

Trust me, I wish I listened, and I'm listening now. >I gave it my best guys >And here you are talking about faggot alts called ChainLink We're also giving it our best. It's easy to look back in hindsight, and it could have gone the other way. The fact is, someone has to solve the interoperability issue, and the old world will still have their legacy systems in place for the next decade or so. What fucking choice do we have to not at least go 33/33/33 on BTC/ETH and LINK or whatever you believe will be the next wave.
Trust me, I fucking hate myself for falling for the college/work-hard meme, and then the startup- and money-doesn't-grow-on-trees meme. I hate that I had to accept that I needed to jump on late, as fucking Tron normies jumped on, and I'm basically in that same category as them. Give me a better solution than kms or giving up, as I refuse to. I'll hate myself for the rest of my life if I miss the next wave, and that's what a lot of us are trying to do now
James Garcia
if you want to know what's up, pick up
-the PBC report from feb15 satoshibox.com/o5bw6rm7b8hpbmm2nvfmj7bw
Fuck this is pretty close to me. The anxiety I’m having over picking a moonshot is killing me. I know I’ll hate myself worse if miss it again.
I know that this is the moment I’ll want to go back in time to if I miss it again.
Blake Sanchez
OP. stop trying... they have interalized (((their))) memes to a point where they will literally attack you for providing a relatively easy solution of financial independence... my stack in crypto is laughable compared to most of Veeky Forums (most are lapring faggots anyway) and still it enabled me to stop wagecucking and spend time on things that really matter to me...
also: consider how man posts are organic in this thread... (((they))) DO NOT like cryptocurrency...
how's your stocks doing, hooknoses? AHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
Brandon Brown
I sincerely feel you
If you can trade your way into getting more bitcoin more power to you
I've just watched so many people fail doing this
Back in 2014 I was on the sideline making arguments against Ethereum being turing complete.
During the presale they were selling 2000 ETH for 1 BTC. I could quite easily have hundreds of millions of dollars right now and I don't. I kick myself over that too. Because I knew that while I was very likely right that Ethereum would have massive problems with relatively simple contracts (multisig disaster, DAO) and that nobody would ever be able to trust a turing complete smart contract for anything... I also knew that people would take years to figure this out and that it would become valuable in that time period.. I really should have bought 10k or something. But I didn't.
So yeah, go and try I guess. Trade those junky alts. Just make Bitcoin your goal because I still haven't seen anything to suggest it won't end up destroying all the alts over the longer term.
Austin Evans
Its not that I don't care, it's that I know I'm not going to sell anyway. Worrying about living the shadow of an ATH is a really terrible way to live when you're holding bitcoin.
Another way of putting that is that 99% of the time you're holding bitcoin you're in the shadow of an ATH. Why concern yourself over someting that is going to be the case 99% of the time?
>technology isn't money dumb fuck, there will be forks there will be hacks there will be technological breakthroughs
ok you're right I'm wrong technology isn't money you win
Michael Myers
when I started posting about bitcoin I was still a libertarian.. i was really into the fed, learning about how money is created, the history of banking and stuff
i think bitcoin ends up being the best redpill you can give someone.. they learn about why its different, and start figuring out (((who))) holds the opposing view
Adrian Perez
>claims to have had the foresight to have bought btc back in the day and hodl through everything >thinks chainlink is a meme
Justin Campbell
Hey what can I say, you've got the spirit
but from where I'm sitting chainlink looks a lot like the meme coin in 2013 that was being spammed on pol endlessly.. the bill quick or whatever coin.. started with a Q.. Quantcoin? There's hundreds and hundreds in the graveyard.
Memories of Mastercoin and Counterparty and Peercoin and there's so many to come.
One that I don't see meme'd but I think will probably do well is Bram Cohen's coin. He's been hanging out in IRC with #bitcoin-wizards for years now worrying about global warming caused by proof of work mining or some other gay liberal shit. But he's a genius and he's got some alternative consensus method called Proof of Time and Space. (This guy created BitTorrent fwiw) and he has the respect of a number of the top minds. And he's Jewish so he'll end up getting good press. Don't count on me for hot altcoin tips but I assume his coin will probably be a big deal, because it's green and jewy and actually novel.
I worry you're being memed but proud that you're getting some practice with low time preference
Thomas Hughes
[Performance] -Ripple consistently handles 1,500 transactions per second, 24x7. -Payment channels can process 10s of 1000s of transactions per second.
. [Cost] -A standard transaction costs just 0.00001 XRP. -The cost is not paid to any party: it's irrevocably destroyed.
. [Real-world use] -5 institusions are currently using XRP (MoneyGram, Cuallix, FlashFX, IDT and MercuryFX). -Many banks are currently using xCurrent. Since xRapid is cheaper (saves up to 60%) and provides final settlement, they are likely to transition to it. -Bichip will use XRP in its RFID chips. -A w3c standard that Ripple helped develop (and was demo'd by Microsoft) will be available in all major browsers, it'll facilitate paying with XRP.
. [Economics] -The supply is fixed. -Unlike Bitcoin, there's no inflation. Bitcoin uses PoW which relies on inflation and/or high fees. Bitcoin requires $18M of net new $ flowing in just to maintain the price!!
. [Security] -Unlike Bitcoin, double-spending isn't possible. Bitmain (a Chinese company) can rollback Bitcoin's chain and bunkrupt the whole ecosystem. -An attack could only stop new transactions temporarily. Participants would simply remove bad participants from their list
. [Decentralisation] -Each participant can run a validator and use his own list of validators. -validators role is to agree on an order for new transactions -10s of reputable public & private entities around the world are currently running validators (e.g., Microsoft, MIT, CGI, WorldLink, Bahnhof,..) -Consensus for the order of new transactions requires a supermajority of 80%
. [Incentives] -XRP is a revenue source for Ripple Labs. This aligns its incentives with XRP hodlers. It uses the revenue to improve the tech and expand XRP's marketshare. -Ripple Labs share is locked in 55 batches on the network. Only one batch can be unlocked per month. It would take them 5 years to unlock them all. XRP is sold only to long term investors (i.e., they can't dump).
Henry Morgan
>The fact is, someone has to solve the interoperability issue,
yeah, Ripple Labs did. Your link bags will be worthless once Interledger comes out.

Why even post these kinds of threads without at least some kind of proof that you aren't a LARPing faggot.
Zachary Rogers
cool LARP OP signed message from address, now >inb4 "for privacy reasons i can't" sorry, you jinxed that card by saying you've never sold a bitcoin and won't sell until much later nobody is going to believe your conspiracy theory about the NSA parsing random Veeky Forums threads and saving addresses so years down the line they can hit you when you cash out, so post signed message or shut the fuck up

The only future "Bitcoin" and "ethereum" on the market right now is omisego at $17. The others won't exist.
