Be honest

Based on your activity over the last 3 months, have you been investing, speculating, or gambling?

Buying cheap REQ

speculating and gambling
95% of my port is in VEN (been holding since october), other 5% is margin trading on bitmex
not sure if anything in crypto is investing

speculating

/thread

Honestly, gambling.
And, I also tend to make my choices (punts) when pissed.
Got v cocky over the last 6 months of last year - sobered up a little now.

Gambling, then speculating, now learning TA seriously and trading. Long term positions the whole time.

this

So, what has been your longest hold so far?

gambling is randomly picking positions workout any research e.g. casino games where mathematically you can't improve your chances of winning (or finding the nonce for a new block in PoW). I think most us have been speculating and some Redditors have been ""investing"" in this vaporwave tech because "they believe in it"

So, you don't believe in any of the tech. Your longest hold?

ta is a meme, save your time, keep gambling

btc. its probably an unpopular opinion but i consider everything besides btc to be gambling. altcoiners may be waiting for a moon that may or may not ever happen like it did in december ever again. i still hold a position in ven, wtc, neo and eth but btc is by far my main hold

ETH cause I believe in the hype even if the tech is beyond horrendous

>everything besides btc is gambling
this thinking is what caused me to be dismissive of eth 2 years ago. also my longest hold though.

What makes you think those aren't all the same thing? It's just a matter of your perceived level of risk and nothing is risk free, we just convince ourselves that some things are.

Masturbating

Mostly closing profitable trades

I'm just throwing money into an abyss

maybe i should rephrase. at this point, with the marketcap going from 18b to 505b in a year, everything has inflated rapidly to the point where we dont know where the bottom really is. had i not gotten into the alts i listed near their ico(except eth didn't buy until $200) i wouldn't dare consider holding them now

Speculating. Anyone who says investing is delusional.

That's /ourgirl/

Came here to say this

BTC was my first coin and I still have a few - so they are my longest HODL (2years)
I've held NEO and ETH since they were single figures too. But by the end of last year I was literally seeing what was written here and throwing a few ETH at it - too lazy and too stupid to even read about it. On the plus side - I picked a few winners (but, everyone did in that market) but, got slaughtered in Jan. Fortunately my core holding remained intact and I didn't gamble the bulk of it away. And some ALTs like REQ etc I've held long enough that they're still up. Others (fuck you ICX!) are still underwater

gambling
i just lost $60 on bad maths this morning and i feel like eating a shotgun
probably made 4 figures in the same time just from daily price appreciation of my portfolio, but being a greedy brainlet causes me angst

REQ
In since $0.04

i used 60% for longterm investments
20% on speculating and 20% on gambling

Speculating (= "investing"). Held BTC for a year, then switched to XLM, still holding but cashed out a big portion of the winnings

Ive never actually invested but it's fun to watch what happens

Motörhead - Ace of Spades

Investing in promising projects and haven’t fucked up yet. Things are looking good. There are a few upcoming ICOs like boldpure which are promised gainers. Security-based tokens are the next wave of 100x projects.

stop shilling that damn scam ico boldpure. Are you a BOT?

Investing. That's why the crash did nothing to me.

OMG

Actually doing well with the TA, even just using a basic moving averages strategy makes trading much more effective.

I don't even know how I plan to cash out or figure out how this works with taxes; I just don't want to miss out. Feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity

Just hodling. I'm boring.

I haven't made any transactions or trades with regards to crypto in the last 3 months, so I'd say I'm an investor.

I have made 5% on crypto in the last 3 months. So Im going to say I have been investing.

I've made nearly 20% (5k investment) over the last few weeks, I started with shitcoins but now just HODL bitcoin.

I may be completely wrong but shitcoins seem to have bursts of profit increases but they soon dip again, maybe ok for day trading for low investors, but realistically there doesn't seem to be much in it.
I've just dumped it all back into bitcoin and it's ticking away nicely.

Am I missing something here?
