I have a BOB picture on my other computer

>food that make you nervous
The fuck are you talking about. Are you retarded?

...

Cringe is for food pics that look disgusting, this is for food that's actually hard to look at

no, but you seem overly aggressive to compensate for your small penis and lackluster personality

Has anyone actually had a jello mold?

are they any
good
? There must be some reason why people ate them

...

My assumption is that people ate them because they were some sort of novelty. Not the jello itself, but the combo of ingredients and shapes, maybe?
Still gross as fuck, 2bh

Good one

this is the only one so far that makes me nervous. Sad crispy little doggos. :,^(

...

mmmmmmmmmmmnope

My mom made it a few times for Thanksgiving when I was little. It only had fruit in it so it wasnt bad but it wasnt good either. I think she thought it looked fancy and refined even though all it took was throwing jello and fruit in a mold then cooling it.

BOB

>using garlic as teeth

How doesn't like 'bob style sponge?

That looks delicious!

Very nervous. I could never eat that.

It's partly the novelty, but the texture is appealing as well. I can't say I've tried it desu, but I've read some reviews that were favorable. Making a jello that is heavily meat-based (using bone instead of gelatin in a pouch) results in something that's basically a cold, solid soup. Turns into meat soup in your mouth. Sounds enjoyable enough to me.

lol

A big part of the appeal was the novelty. Remember that fresh fruit was still hard to come by reliably on a working class budget; lime jello was a novel flavor. Novel shapes and colors were also part of the attraction, along with

Equally important, though, was the preservative value of gelatin. Without a fridge, gelatin could "seal" meat and veg away from the air, preserving leftovers for the next day. It also allowed the housewife to cook something in advance and not be slaving away in the kitchen as dinner approached.

good reading:

There was a fantastic fucking website with a photo-essay composed primarily of scans of old magazines and recipes and stuff that had a really great discussion of jello salad and I can't find it and I'd seriously pay someone 50 cents paypal or something if they've seen it, remembered it and linked it. I can't believe I didn't bookmark that site, it was really good.

here
wow never mind I literally didn't read my own link. The first paragraph links to the website I mentioned:
lileks.com/institute/gallery/jello/13.html

aaaaand the thing I remembered as being great isn't as good as I thought it was. I guess my mind just blended the image gallery and the long-form article into the best of both worlds.

Appreciate your sharing nonetheless. Saved to bookmarks for later reading.

Being a Slavshit I've eaten them many times. Though my family sticks to fairly simple combinations. We either make a meat one with a bit of veg and eggs (kholodets) or a sweet one with fruit.

The fruit one was my favourite dessert as a kid. It's sweet and tart and delicious.

The meat one takes a bit of getting used to but it's really not as bad as you think. If you use enough meat then you barely taste/feel the gelatin at all, it just tastes like cold roast meat with a bit of extra saltiness and softness from the gelatin.

A friend of mine once had a medieval themed party where he served whole pigs' heads. That shit is fucking delicious, don't knock it until you've tried it.

The lemon and olive eyes tho

Literally not a single one of these has made me nervous. I'm not sure whether you're all massive pussies or i'm just desensitized to just about everything by now. Probably both.

Either way, thread hidden.

Politely ask the server to take it back and order something else.

Except it's cold.
It tastes fucking bland.

Also, "meat based jello" is called aspic.

C'mon this is actually cool!
