At Starbucks the amount of inane shit full grown adults will go into, like ordering 2 shots of espresso over ice in a bigger cup and then asking for milk on the side, or having us remove all the bits of cheese on a premade tomato mozzarella sandwich to make it "vegan" or putting whip cream in a little cup for their dog or giving them no whip cream for their frappucino but filling the dome lid with more drink so they get their money's worth, all for the benefit of not usually being tipped because it's not as guilt driven like at a diner.

Maybe this has something to do with how much money a typical dine in customer "should" spend, or taking up tables for other people...still if they want a thing it's just easier to give them it, otherwise you get complaints, the other customers get agitated and wait longer etc. etc.

Restaurants don't make money off of the kid's menu, dumbshit, it's just an incentive to get the parents there and order real meals/drinks. The kids in the video were even aware of that but were acting as though they'd discovered some loophole to eat cheap food in order to be assholes.

They took up a table for probably an hour and paid $8; they just wasted everyone's time.

Then refuse to serve them, have minimum table orders, do something logical that a normal restaurant would do, don't just say "oh we're restricting you to these certain items"

Generally I think an adult should be allowed to order off of the children's menu, but if the menu explicitly states "10 and under only" to prevent adults from ordering off the kids menus, as it did in that video, its fair game and the restaurants right to do that

Let's say hot dogs are on the kids menu. The restaurant probably has 10 hot dogs in the kitchen, because they get 10 orders per weekend, and the supplier is off F - M.

Now some idiot that thinks since he's a special snowflake he should be able to ignore what the restaurant has plainly stated, and orders 5 hotdogs. They now have 5 kids (who can't understand no as well as adults) screaming for hotdogs and they're unable to supply them.

An experienced manager should know exactly how this situation would end up. You don't give disruptive customers what they want in the hopes they will shut up. I only ever made that mistake once, and that one time, and almost every other time I've seen someone else give in to a troublesome customer, this is how it ends up.

It really sucks in places that serve huge portions and their kid's menu is the exact same but just smaller portions. It's more common than you think. Most of the time its the amount of food that I'm looking for, but it would be awkward ordering stuff off of it, you know? I personally hate wasting food too so I end up eating too much and go into a food coma after.

Though if the kid's menu consists of nothing but grilled cheese/chicken nuggets/whatever basic crap which is unrelated to the regular menu then I don't bother considering it.
