The biggest issue I have with this is that it's all in trays which I thought was just an American phenomenon. The portion sizes also seem way too large. I would have a hard time finishing these meals as an adult. France and Italy seem particularly large.

As a Brit, I can't remember what I used to eat at primary school but I remember it was a hot meal on a plate and we could go up for a dessert if we wanted. In secondary school, I just used to grab a sandwich.

Honestly the issue I have with this, is that the private school I work at here in the US puts this food to fucking shame.

I have seen my kids being serves pan seared salmon, eggplant parmesan and qinou casserole. We even have a salad bar. These posts just seem highly bias.

Of course it's bias. The tray and table are the same in each image. Some dipshit just slapped together a bunch of food for the images of European countries and then dumped out some frozen tater tots and peas on the tray, let them thaw at room temperature for six hours, then wrote "USA" under it.

This is a bullshit propaganda photo from the US. There is a whole series of them. The original purpose was to push school lunch reform in the US.

The truth is that school lunches vary greatly in the US, but generally speaking the food served to most kids is actually lower quality than what is pictured.

All the meals shown were clearly prepared based on description or recipes by test kitchen chefs. Now, I've been to several countries and several states in the US and seen how food is served, and nowhere does it look anything like this. Public school lunches everywhere are cheap and produced by low-paid employees, so generally it all looks pretty terrible and consists of low quality ingredients.

So while most school lunches are probably healthier than US school lunches, they're all fairly gross. There's only so much you can do with the cheapest ingredients on the market and even lower quality government subsidy ingredients.

An interesting bit of trivia, one of the largest providers of school lunches in the US is an internationally owned French company. They serve low quality food much like the USA example in that pic to American children, but they'd never serve it to their own.

From what I've seen in South Korea, everything is served in stainless steel and those portions are totally off.

I think it is Antwerpen in Belgium. That is the main cathedral and square. In winter you have a christmas market there.
