How do you survive on $4 a day?
How do you survive on $4 a day?
You do realize flour, potatoes, and dried beans are a thing, right? They give you practically unlimited calories for almost nothing.
>tfw spoonfeeding
$1 breakfast, $2 lunch, 1$ evening snack
idiot.
sorry I should have said thrive instead of survive.
if it were me I would probably just do 2 meals at $2 each, that way you get the added benefits of daily fasting
that's 408 yen. That gets me 3 hot dogs, a bag of rice, and 2 pieces of friend shrimp over at the seinyu grocery store
I like friend shrimp :)
apply yourself and make $50 for a Costco membership, buy rotisserie chickens, survive.
he's not far off
you could probably pull off ramen for brunch and red beans and rice topped with a sausage for dinner
you also might be able to make a big batch of chili and make it last
shit on a shingle is really cheap and despite its name it tastes pretty good
>dish that requires milk or cream
>cheap
Yeah, no.
you could substitute a jar of white biscuit gravy on sale for a little over a dollar and the chipped beef packets are usually a dollar
If you are in a rural or semi rural area you can learn to forage for common edibles. Or you can learn to dumpster dive. Also take up fishing. Learn where soup kitchens and food pantries are. Many pantries can also hook you up with stuff like toilet paper, soap and other small items.
>premade gravy
You've never been poor, have you?
Not this poor, no. But I'm trying to help at least. What about oats for breakfast? Is that doable in op's region?
The quick rundown then:
anything premade is a money sink. If you're not living on a super thin margin, usually it's not enough to worry yourself over, but if you are on the margin, it's killer. Like premade gravy? It's not as good, but you can make a gravy with just oil, water and flour.
Oats are a good poverty food, basically think on staples: beans, rice, pasta, oats. Then a little stuff to add in to make the above more palatable.
For me it is four McChickens, the best fast food sandwich.
I've live on 25 a week for the past two years in college
I've done just fine with what I buy
usually something like
>rice
>beans
>cheese
>sour cream
>tortillas
>bread
>pasta
>sauces
>hot dogs occasionally
>flour
>sugar
>syrup
those are the basics of what I buy every week
4 4oz bags of cheese curls from the dollar tree
3 one dollar banquet meals. there are probably 25-30 different varieties. use the rest to purchase frozen broccoli
beans and rice is your best option, sweet potatoes are good as well, you arent going to be eating anything fancy but you'll be healthy and fully fed
you have to eat your food at least two times, get all the nutrition
legumes, pastas and grains mah nigga
i forgot pasta
muh poverty nigguh
Thats like $80 pesos, i can eat like a king with that
>$13 chilaquil torta
>$17 order of tacos outside a metro station
>$40 dinner at some cheap restaurant
Minimum wage feast
I want to decapitate that slut and fuck her corpse.
go to a local soup kitchen and also apply for food stamps
The answer is dried grains+beans. And get an electric pressure cooker, because they're too much of a hassle to cook without one. Frozen vegetables are also excellent, cheaper and more nutritious than fresh.
Let's imagine you're doing all of your shopping for the week up front
28 bucks could pretty surely pick you up chicken thighs, which I've seen in packs of 4 for maybe five bucks
Several pound bags of rice, lentils, beans, or what have you for pretty cheap and you're likely to not go through the whole bag
Big fucking tube of oats
And I'm sure I'll get autists screaming at me about it but potatoes too
And if you're in dire straits, hitting up soup kitchens and seeking gubmint help shouldn't be below you
Drink semen
But a single onigiri with shrimp at Lawsons costs close 200 yen how
Ramen and Malt Liquor
Don't forget carrots and rice, my friend
For me i actually have to do this. Rice, carrots soy sauce and salt for flavouring. Then chickpeas, tuna, eggs(a bit costly) or some other kind of beans for a protein.
Some times I'll get some luxury and buy colliflower , cabbage or broccoli. I think i eat okay even though I'm ridiculously poor.
This. Oats a perfect! Flavor it with either apples, honey or jam. Then you can eat breakfast every day for pennys.
>honey or jam
>pennies
You don't need to use the whole jar. Just enough for some flavour. Its really hard to eat porridge every day with no extra flavour or milk. But apples do work if you can't afford jam or honey.
My work provides free fruit and does a lunch once a week
I haven't paid for lunch in over 5 years
Just have to learn to get your condiments for free from gas stations and fast food places.
good point
You use the 4$ to buy a knife and you go innawoods
In your dreams.
28 bucks a week could get you a decent amount of sandwiches. $2-3 for a loaf of bread, ~3 dollars for a thing of ham or turkey. I'm probably overvaluing it because I'm googling bread prices
That's like 1-2 sandwiches a day per week for roughly 6 dollars. I'd probably die doubling it to 3 sandwiches a day and spending 16 dollars on fruit juices and things like lettuce and cheese. That was basically how I lived going through elementry school. How malnourished would I end up?
You eat lunch once a week?
Yuck. You'll end up malnourished eating that every day.
>$
i just eat fruit on the other days and pocket extra for the weekend
just buy cheap stuff thats healthy
brown rice or buckwheat or quinoa or even bread and oats
brocolli/cauliflower/brussel sprouts - serving per day
spinach - serving per day
carrots/ tomatoes/ corn p day
flax seeds
peanuts or peanut butter for snacking
beans such as kidney or black beans or butter beans for dinner (good with tomato sauce and some carbs)
frozen rasberries to add to breakfast
spice of choice
bananas
potatoes if you will
macaroni,tuna,frozen veggies
pack of coffee every 2 weeks
Why does this thread make me so hungry in a good way.
Please keep talking about cheap food.
you're a god user
>Box of brown rice and two bags of bean
>Meals for the whole week
Voila.
leannebrown.com
She wrote a book on how to eat healthy with only 4$ a day.
Pdf is free give it a go.
$4 a day comes out to about $120 a month. The trick if you only have that $4 each day for instance from tips or something is to but carryover items. These would be items that last longer than a day.
Loaf of bread
Eggs
Pack of balogna
Hot Dogs
Rice
Pasta
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Oats
As you gather up items you can then afford to spend a day on more expensive items with some of the left over money from previous days or just with the $4 you have each day like maybe a cheap package of chicken, sliced cheese. A pound of ground beef, Mustarrd, mayo, Milk, Cereal, etc.
Avoid eating fast food.
Fix your own meals including brown bagging your work lunch.
Try to improve your cash flow so you have more sheckles to spend each day.
you need meats though
Don't
porkchops
Don't what? Die of B12 deficiency?
lmfao user harden up
>$6AUD week
>old bread
>beef stock
>onions

>How do you survive on $4 a day?
Take a look at the generic food label thread if it's still up
Keep chickens. You have land. Your rich!
By not being a Europoor.
With planning and a small garden.
>this mofo has never kept chickens
my nigga i have 10 chickens in 6 square metre enclosure
cost almost nothing to keep
if they fuck i have more chickens
if they stop laying i have a delicious bbq
for other meat i fish with homemade lures
>the life
>the feeling of catching another living animal on something you carved with your own hands
its good man
It's originally a Spanish symbol. I wouldn't be surprised they use it.
Buy a chick for a dollar every other day until you managed to get 10.
Go to bakery's before closing and either ask for stale bread or wait until they throw it out
Come back home and feed them the bread
In 3 - 6 months you can kill them for food
Remember to acquire 10 new chicks a month
but what do you feed them?
Ya chickens cost me about 10 bucks a month. It'll more more in the winter when they can't feed themselves on my 1/2 are lot plus 1/2 are of woods next to me. Now if they would just stop eating my god damn tomatoes.
Learn to make Casserole. Most Casserole can be made with $4.
they get standard chicken feed, $10 for a few kilos, a few kilos is a fucking lot.
Nah sorry mate not running fucking Newtown Community Farm, more like rupture farms kk
this. but you arent relying on them for meat - learn how to fish, and if you really, really, really want chicken meat you can get a kilo for a fiver or less.
homegrown chicken meat is just a great side effect of chickens stopping laying. cunts.
My neighbours used to keep hens & 2 peacocks (fucking annoying btw).
A fox killed them all one night and didn't even eat any.
Bag of Rice
Either cook up beans too, or if ya wanna be quick a can of beans will be like $.65-$1.50 depending on size
Hotdogs or Sausage can be found for $2 if ya lower your standards.
Always leave a bit in the budget for Tony's or whatever mixed seasoning ya like.
hgxhgxkughvlkjb;nkkkkkkkkkkkkkknhjiokhihoih
...
I don't even have a room let alone space to keep a chicken. You're rich.
get a job in a kitchen and the chef might give you a bite to eat if you're really struggling that badly
Nice doggo! St.bernard? Love the way his gums drop.
Easy
>tfw tax doesn't make it four dollars even
...
...
>commit crime
>go to jail
>eat for free
You arent going anywhere in life anyways. Just steal a boat and have some fun first. Stop at a marina. Dine and dash. Steal a dog too
that was my dog, asshole
As long as you put a collar on the pupper the police will return it after they shoot OP and take him to hospital before prison
Wow I have to pay .75 per green pepper in north Appalachia. It was $1 each before a produce shop opened.
If you're going to go to jail somewhere, get jailed in Norway. Look at this ffs
I've always wondered, in a situation like this, if you talked to a manager and explained you literally had JUST four dollars, would they forego charging you the tax? Or would you be SOL?
>meat
Buy whole chickens and separate in to whatever pieces you like, stupidly cheaper
>vegetables
Shit on sale, shit from the chinese market
>fruits
No
>grains
Buy dry and in bulk
>seasonings and sauces
buy as you see fit because you'll be spending less than $4 a day
Dude sausage party spoilers, come on
I can see OP sitting there right now. Eating scramble eggs that probably taste good to his palate. Frig off Jr. SAUSAGE MAN.
>fruits
>No
:(
Can I buy deer corn in bulk and just boil it?
oats and milk
never mind it can have axfoliant in it which can cause cancer.
She probably wouldn't have felt as disgusted if his hands weren't scaly as shit
Breakfast:
Oats, cheap toast with leftovers, fresh fruit if it's cheap.
Lunch and dinner:
Buy big bags of chilli flakes, salt, and cumin, along with oil. Lentils/beans and rice/pasta/couscous/polenta with cheap (possibly frozen) vegetables will be your staple, seasoned with the cheap spices you bought in bulk, and supplemented with small quantities of canned fish and minced beef every now and then.
Don't forget the oil, especially if you're not adding meat or fish, you'll need the fat. And don't try to save money by loading up on carbs, they'll just make you hungrier.
Stop perpetuating this meme. Go watch Varg's youtube videos on the subject if you don't believe me. Not even a Somalinavian.
