It's worse for Type-1 diabetics because unless they inject insulin they will die in a few days.
A Type-2 diabetic may be able to live for months and even years with elevated blood sugar levels, depending on how poorly their body has become at using the sugar available
There's also a Type-3, but only pregnant women can get it.
