I just landed a $55,000 a year job. Did I do well?

I just landed a $55,000 a year job. Did I do well?

Depends on your degree

That's trash if you got a degree in STEM, if not or no degree, ya did good

better then 90% of americans

...

All you have to do is keep it. Then you can say you did well.

Depends
How old are you, where is the job (i.e. $55k in Arkansas > $55k in California/Taxifornia), what is your degree?

Well you're working for a living which is admirable but becoming less and less so as crypto becomes a bigger and bigger opportunity

This.

Congrats OP, you gotta start somewhere. I just got a $70k bonus today.

>job

I just got a $11k bonus today :^)

Thats great. Be happy, friend

Thanks guys.

It's a security analyst job. It's my first job.

What credentials do you have to land that job?

STEM degree here. Worked as a formulator in construction chemicals for 4 years with a peak at 51k, including overtime. That trash pay is the standard for the majority of chemists.

Should've did comp sci.

I have bachelors in Computer Science with focus on Cyber Security. I wanted to do masters in Cyber Security but I didn't want to rack up more loans to pay for tuition fees.

>bachelor in Comp Sci
>$55K
What in the actual fuck are you doing.
Get a dev job and make more money.
I made $67K out of college with my comp sci degree and I cringe looking back at working for that pay in the job I was in.

I mean that's okay, I took a pay cut to become a firefighter/paramedic and I make that much, but I don't have to be a skinnyfat cuck who sits at a desk all day...depends on your perspective I guess

Mech E. here, only making 55k two years in. most people at my company have engineering degrees and we all make that much.

not him but 55k in the midwest is like 75k on the east or west coast, and even getting hired for professional jobs in the first place is really hard now since the boomers nuked the economy and can't retire.

>55k
>a year

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

>be me
>completely mail it in for my undergrad degree in Information Systems at [Top Business/Tech University]
>Make $68K + $12K signing for [Big corporation] doing DevOps and scripting

Y'all need to move to the great state of Texas

I mean, 55 is ok I guess. It's a good start for me. I was actually expecting to do an internship at first but I thought I would give a paid job a go and it turned out ok.

Well enjoy the job but keep your eyes and ears open for new opportunities.
You can make a lot with a comp sci degree.

I'm a volunteer emt and everyone I work with is fat as shit lol

Is it entry level? Then pretty much average. I make barely 100k and feel like a poorfag.

thats a tranny right?

my gf didn't even get a compsci degree and her first job was a software dev for $106k. laughing at you tbhf

Veeky Forums, you do know that the average american makes around 30k a year, right?

Step aside wagelets, my compensation is 2mil/year, plus stock bonuses.

Laughing at the poorfags only making six figures here. Wagelets are pic related

90% of everything is shit
if you're not top 10% you're not a human being.

PhD in Math I presume

all in bitcoin will do 10x
if you can mutiply ur btc you will make it

(((diversity))) hire

what job?

Not bad dude. I also work as a security analyst. Started at $50K temporary gig, after 3 years I'm perm now making around $120K after bonus.

Good job user. That's good. Just live below your means. Don't use credit cards. Save. Invest some money into good crypto projects once you have some savings.
I'm proud of you.

Depends where you live. I made roughly that much working 16 hours/week last year what and I'm a poorfag in a very expensive ski town

>Do sorta alright with my CompSci degree.
>Didn't go to a top university
>Didn't make connections while at uni
>Couldn't land any internships
>Absolutely zero leads after just graduating
Living in Texas is all I got going for me

Get certed in Python or Java and resign yourself to be a code monkey for a couple years, then move laterally to a better dev position once you have experience and a portfolio of stuff you've built

Career and study wise, keep swimming. The moment you stop swimming you are going to drown. Keep self improving in your chosen field. Specialist in one area but also aim for generalized knowledge in your field.

I should get a certification. Where would code monkeys be in high demand anyway?

Austin and Dallas my dude. I think Python is the most valuable language right now

I honestly can hardly believe this. I make about 30k a year and I'm a turbo poorfag.

Sounds reasonable.
Thanks for the advice user.

What certs should I get to show python proficiency? I'm just a kid with 1 year of college, but I'm actually very proficient at coding, (been reading/practicing since very young) python especially, where can I go to get paid a shit ton

It depends. Average salary is about $50k.

If you were in need of a job or can't get much higher with your credentials, it might be pretty good.

For others, $55k would be pretty low.

I got $85k out of college in SF, and it was pretty terrible pay. After a few years I could command double that salary. Now I can quadruple it.

What does this actually mean? Like wtf do you actually do at your job on a day to day basis? People's job descriptions are always vague as fuck, so genuinely curious.

>t. 29 yo self employed never had a job so it's literally a mystery to me

Google "devops".

Btw, would not recommend getting into devops. Big companies are the only ones who need them anymore, and even those positions are being threatened by services like AWS.

that's really good OP. I was at 45k after 1 year out of college. Now I'm at 63k, 26 yrs old, but infinite WFH which is insanely comfy.

I just gave a kid who only finished school a job for 60k. 55 hours a week. Manual labor. 20 years old.

I got the same and no degree, wew

Thats a lot of manual labor

yeah, but at 20, you can do it.

It's more like 45k but yea. That's taking into account southern states and whatnot with low average salaries and cost of living.

I barely clear 25k and that's including a shitton of overtime but it's enough for me to live mostly comfortably in southern Louisiana. Having god tier benefits and a lot of days off makes up for it though.

If you are under 25 then yes. Good job.

Keep at it and you'll be a beta bux by 35.

My first year income was around $110k. But that was after 8 years of university.
~2.5 years later and I'm at $150k.

Literally every time I go visit family there I'm tempted more and more. NY is cool and all but god damn the standard of living is so much better (and cheaper) down south. Definitely moving there when I make it at some point.

Depends on how much student debt you have.

OP realtalk I don't have a degree and make about 50k, so that's not very good for you. Unless the benefits are really fantastic I would drop it if you can manage to find a better opportunity.

Gehaltsfaden Loide!

Feelen dank, mein Froind.

GOOD JOB FRIEND

hey that's my image

I really, really, really like this image.

Same here buddy, I just graduated in may with an associate in electrical engineering tech. Been hard landing a job here in NYC for an EE tech.

Work in a chemical waste treatment plant-topped out at 130k, no degree

Same. How can anyone survive on 30k annual? I make 60k and live in a fucking basement.

I know, it's bizarre. I make 170k as an analyst and I have to sleep in a box in the alley next to my building.

Just got my first job at 60k in Missouri. Am I gonna make it. Bachelor's in information systems

before or after tax & benefits?

what is take home?

I wonder how many miles of cock she ingested to get that gig?

...What? I just graduated and I make like 150k a year

Yes, you did better than the worthless NEETs here.

Well, it's good. Is the job interesting ?
