I need help Veeky Forums. This was in my math professors room, the previous occupant of the room put it up and no one has been able to figure it out. It says something in the center, and has a key around the outside to decrypt it. Help me?

Anybody?

Each patch corresponds to a letter, the key is along the border, with a-z in order. But you need to reflect it in a mirror to get the final answer.

So the bottom right square would be the first letter? Or the
Top right?

And is the key in a a-z in a mirror or normally?

Even the key has a pattern of R,O,Y,G,B,I,V

I keep counting 27 color combos in the key....

One of them is probably a space.

I figured if there was a space it would be either the first symbol or the last, but neither of those work as a space. The first symbol doesn't show up until the third line. The last symbol has two in a row near the middle.

I have started drawing a conversion onto paper, if you guys can figure out the key it would be great

This is how it should be, no key yet

I'm just gonna throw it out there that I think the solid blue would be the space if there is one at all. Seems plentiful and appropriately spaced throughout the chart.

Solid dark blue that is.

I agree, that's what me and my professor were thinking.

sounds like a simple monoalphabetic encryption, try to break it with tools like

quipqiup.com/

as described in
quipqiup.com/help.php

good luck

Do you think it is encrypted more then they are now?

in case you wanna know, whether or not there might be some more complicated cypher involved: I don't know. but 27 symbols sound like a simple "this symbol represents this character"-cypher plus space or special char like @ or something...

OP now needs to encode the text in latin chars, thus, associate each unique symbol with a single latin char, and then translate each color symbol to the corresponding latin glyph. the resulting text can then be entered into online tools Like I mentioned above, which will analize the frequencies of each letter, like "most frequent letter could represent the E"...

now, pick each "yet not occurring color symbol" and draw/copy it in an empty character cell. it doesn't matter which color pattern you choose for what character, all you need is an alphabet in order to translate the color pattern to a latin character text, which is yet still nonsense. but online tools can analyse that nonsense-texts characters and try to statistically replace "repesentative letters" like "x" by their "real letter", for example "e"

Spoilers: the first two words are likely to be "hey kids"

Possible, but only works starting from the right.

Yep.
That's the gaze through the looking glass bit. I have the entire thing :^)

Mr Cooley (if I didn't typo the grid) seems like a cool guy.

Oh wait, if it's this Mr Cooley
ratemyteachers.com/university-high-school/21253-s
Then you're still in high school.
underage b& pls :^)

Can someone post the entire thing? I would appreciate it :-)

Not that Mr Cooley

Underrated post

Why can't you translate it on your own..?

I'm not fully understanding the concept and have to go to work.

hmm... doesn't look like a typical/plain monoalphabetic cypher

HEY KIDS THIS IS A MASSAGE FROM MRCOOLEY AND THE CALCULUS CLASS OF TWENTYFIFTEEN CELEBRATING OUR LAST YEAR GOOD FUCK AND HAVE FUN WITH THE METHS

Changed some letters for the lulz

In which way you reordered the letters? Gonna post my current state, wait a sec

which translates to left-fom-right associated text:

ABCDEFAGDHIB
JKKILDJDKADK
MNOLDLMOPDIQ
IBCDFRJDHISM
SNDETSTNSJND
CRIUCDPMDKKJ
SINDRIICPAPH
OTMDQRACJOVI
QDOJIHDCKJSD
FRJDGNTSDFMM
AUDRTPDITJBD
KBCJLDIBCDBC

Which can be mirrored (as suggested to):

BIHDGAFEDCBA
KDAKDJDLIKKJ
QIDPOMLDLONM
MSIHDJRFDCBI
DNJSNTSTEDNS
JKKDMPDCUIRC
HPAPCIIRDNIS
IVOJCARQDMTO
DSJKCDHIJODQ
MMFDSTNGDJRF
DBJTIDPTRDUA
CBDCBIDLJCBK

Which can then be monoalphabetically replaced to:

HEYSKIDUSTHI
LSILSASMELLA
GESFROMSMRCO
OPEYSANDSTHE
SCAPCVPVUSCP
ALLSOFSTWENT
YFIFTEENSCEP
EBRATINGSOVR
SPALTSYEARSG
OODSPVCKSAND
SHAVESFVNSWI
THSTHESMATHL

This is correct. Goes mirrored, right to left.

If you're using the online tool linked earlier, it doesnt replace characters with spaces. So you should first replace all D's with spaces.

*facepalm*

DAMN! I FORGOT TO REMOVE THE SUPPOSED SPACE CHAR BEFORE DOING THE REPLACEMENTS!!!

*facepalm*
*facepalm*

(And it WAS ME who posted the tool ^^)

Damn, not enuff concentration left =)

okay, then I get:

Not being pedantic but yeah you solved it.

I found another secret code, see image.
You're using both K and E for the entirely green square, leading to some slight errors.

>ing pedantic but yeah you solv

oh, okay, looks like concentration was even worse, thx for hint ^^

Well that's disappointing

I figured out how the tool works and got it solved, thank you Veeky Forums. May the all knowing holy π send great gifts your way.

I accept paypal, visa and mastercard.

Chemfag here. How do yall lear to do ciphers and shit. What class/background is necessary

this is literally just a method everyone thinks up when they are 12 and making their own secret language.

do you mean real ciphers?

Yea man
