USA and Horsemeat

Hello Veeky Forums,

I am visiting some friends that lives in the US. I wanted to cook them a meal from Italy which included horse meat so i went to the supermarket to buy all the ingredients but i couldn't find any horse meat anywhere. Even a specialized butcher told me that i "Wouldn't find any horse meat around here".

Why is there no horse meat in the US? Are Americans afraid of good high quality meat?

It's probably more of a cultural thing. I grew up looking after horses and saw them as pets, but I'd still try the meat. Heard it has a shit ton of iron in it.

American horses aren't bred for meat. They're bred for sport and utility. Congratulations, you just learned that some countries are different from yours

>There can only be one type of horse breed

ok then

Do you know how to read?

Do you?

Ciao amico.

Noi non mangiamo il cavallo, perché c'è uno stigma. Gli americani non hanno paura della "qualità" -- c'è semplicemente bizzarro.

Forse vorresti provare cucinare il tuo piatto con carne di bufalo?

There aren't any American slaughterhouses butchering horse because there isn't any real demand. Are you anywhere near Quebec? You can find it there.

I almost thought you were serious until the last line when you went full /int/

Because we're civilized. You might be happy to learn we also don't eat dogs or camels either.

i think it's illegal to even sell it here

>American supermarkets having anything that's not shit quality

Have you seen their milk containers?

why is every fucking thread on Veeky Forums some /pol/ nationality baiting shit now

fuck off

>a fucking LEAF.

A horse is a companion animal and civilized countries don't eat those.

That reading comprehension tho

OP can't understand you, he's retarded, not Italian.

...

It's not really, there just aren't any approved facilities butchering it.

Dont know how it is in italy, but given what I've seen you fucking faggots and us run horses through a gauntlet of hell called the derby/horse races. I'd love to eat horse meat, but it's hard to beat the cruelty of the way we treat horses yet hold ourselves above all our horse abuse just because we don't eat them.

How is it that eating horses winds up being kinder than letting them be ridden to death?

Are you implying that image is of a U.S. container? You mentioned "American", so maybe that's a Mexican container which would make more sense.

see We aren't civilized for taking the animal equivelant of a child with thin fragile bones and then making that kid ride around with another fat kid on their shoulders. We are also not civilized for using antiquated bits that tear up their gums and provide no benefit but being a quick fix for a rider to lazy and cruel to learn how to use a rope halter which factually results in better control. Shoes damage a horse's hooves and make them weak, creating a dependance for something that slowly ruins their feet even though they'd be fine without shoes if you just used a ferrier. Then people have to be able to ride horses down a car crowded city, where theres literally no where the horse can go and relax on it's time off when it doesn't have its nose inhaling from the tail pipe of a vehicle directly. Instead they cram them into some apartment stall where theres practically no room for them to even exist let alone share their space with other horses which they love.

these cows unironically have a better life than most horses in america.

>American horses aren't bred for meat.
Who the fuck breed horses for meat ? I'm pretty sure retards here in yurope eat old/injured horses.

I'm in American and bought cheap horse jerky from Russia since it was cheaper than wandering around Canada or Mexico to find horse products.
Horse hair or hide? Sure fine here. God forbid if horsemeat. all our unwanted horses got shipped to Canada or Mexico and still do since we no longer have anywhere that allows their sale of meat. Horses are expensive and everyone loves them here so it's better off to ship them somewhere else to deal with them. Out of sight, out of mind.

Nope it's purchased in the US of A in a costco, nice try though broham

are you dumb? old horse meat is of inferior quality and the medication pumped into them is unfit for human consumption.

and why would it be a poor decision for one to breed horses for meat? horse meat shrinks very little during cooking and is very lean.

Only in California.

There were but the meat was shipped to other countries. It got shut down due to people equating the horses as pets. I think now the companies moved to Mexico.

>We don't eat horse, because it's a (???). We Americans aren't afraid of quality, it's simply bizarre

What word is "stigma" in English? Google translate isn't working for some reason.

Is horse meat something you can just pick up at a local supermarket in Italy? I went to Rome this summer and was dying to try some.

>stigma
Stigma is also a word in English.

>Noi non mangiamo il cavallo, perché c'è uno stigma
madonna

did you get berried a couple weeks ago?

ive never seen a milk jug like that, but i dont shop at costco because I don't have 17 kids and i'm not poor.

Costco has the highest average income of shoppers compared to any other grocery store in the country.

Was there too much lead in your water as a child?

you need to provide a source. i don't believe a bulk grocery has a higher average income than whole foods or fresh market.

While i am poor I'd rather buy things like brats in bulk than pay the healthfag tax at places like Wholefoods or The Nugget.

ok.

It was apparently a slow rollout. They were testing in in some markets. I've never seen it either since I usually just get the 3 carton box. The square jugs is so Costco can stack more and save 10 cents on each unit. Lots of mixed reviews on it though.

Mama mia, get a load of this faggot.

Doubtful.

Are you genuinely retarded?

swedefag here

horse meat is delicious

apparently they were saving so much on shipping that they put more in there and charged less from what I remember. really hard to pour as well, I think it's because the spout is wider.

A butcher shop by my house in Washington state sells camel meat. I haven't tried it yet.

I know a guy who old yellered his horse and gave me some of it's meat.

I made horse stew in my crock pot, was pretty good actually.

I fed some to my sister who rode that same horse two or three times and never told her

Are you one of those fags that think rape is worse than death? Literal feminist mindset.

who the fuck would actually prefer systematic torture to death?

What makes the quality of that container so bad?

ayy gaba goo my muddas sauce
