Here in the states we call that a gyro. Story time: I used to live in a a part of Chicago while in college near Greek town, and was dating a Turkish girl (this story is fucked from the start, sorry Turk bros), there was this great little gyro shop that'd we d hit late at night after drinking; one night we're fucked up and stuffed and waiting on the bus and for some reason I reached into her pants pocket and she had cut the buttoms out of them. Gyro meat isn't steamed, it's roasted. Traditionally, it's supposed to be lamb but you don't see that a lot. It's the same meat prepared in the same way.

A gyro is a specific thing made with the meat. A real gyro doesn't have potatoes in it and it HAS to have tzatziki and it HAS to be in a pita or it's a different thing.

Those have such an offensive smell to them.

kebab is meat, stacked and rotated near a heat source. the outside is crisped, and sliced away, exposing the soft meat below allowing it to crisp. most all the cut for kebab is the crisped part.

gyro is meat mash, tossed into a pan, molded to the shape of the pan, and cooked, then sliced. literally not the same thing at all. idk of any other methods, but to illustrate, here is my take on gyro
>toss togetehr mix in the end, will be mash
>line bread tin with plastic wrap
>pour in meat mash
>close plastc wrap
