People are finally waking up to you stupid science bitches. They know that your secret language is spooky and they're not going to take it anymore.
Be honest with me Veeky Forums. Show me your runes, tell me what they mean.

>economist
she was right about him being up to no good
Dumb humanistic students
EXCLUSIVE - His work has just been released to the public
Adds another meaning to Arabic numerals
>suspicious maths
>maxwell equations in gaussian system
also here are my runes
plans on destroying white population
>triggered
damn nigga, if only you got first post
Better safe than sorry, I would report anyone inscribing suspicious moon runes in a public place too , could be a spell of fire ball or something, you never know.
nette handschrift
Bra-kets are so damn ugly.
you're ugly
That's a given, user. I'm just a triggered maths student who dislikes bra-kets.
Bra-kets are elegant as fuck
You're probably one of those people who refuses to call the Dirac delta function a function
No they're not. They're just unnecessary extra writing.
underrated
but it isn't
>They're just unnecessary extra writing
That's simply not true desu
How would you do write it then
But it is. If I'm not mistaken, distributions on R are certain functions from C(R) to R, where C(R) is some space of functions on R.
>maxwells
He was an economist,he sure as fuck wasn't doing electrodynamics.
danke
seems like you dont even know the difference
The Muslims invented math
No Bart, it's German and it means "the"
Kek
I'm fine with calling it a function. I just prefer to be explicit about working in a Hilbert space and with linear functionals. It reduces stuff to rote algebraic manipulation and tends to hide what's going on (similar to that video about using triangles for exponentiation and logarithms). I find that sort of stuff ugly desu. I see how it's useful shorthand, but I prefer to avoid it.
That's right. Hell, I'm so
ignorant, I don't even know what you're talking about.
First of all, I wouldn't leave my reader guessing at where everything lives (no reason to pull some obscurantist bullshit here, we're not doing philosophy). Next, I'd write v instead of |v \rangle, and similarly for the dual space.
The only piece of decent notation physicists seem to have invented is the summation convention for differential forms and polyvectir fields. And they didn't.
If there were any point in using that notation, mathematicians would have adopted it by now, and they haven't.
Also, the musical isomorphism.
How do you feel about Feynmann diagrams?
I've never done any QFT so I can't really comment. Are they used in place for calculations or just to help one get an idea of what's occurring so that they know how to approach a problem/concept?
Feynman diagrams are a good idea. Contrary to braket notation, they have been adopted by mathematicians. See for instance Kontsevich's proof of formality.
A Feynman diagram is exactly equivalent to a mathematical expression. So in some cases yes, you can use them instead of direct calculations.
I wonder what went through her brain
>I don't know what that symbol means, probably arabic or something, better report it to th police
(noice)
I'm starting to sincerely believe some people don't have a train of thought.
They react instinctively to things and make the rest of it up as they go along.
he's an economist, I have no idea why they put physics equations for the picture in that news article
oh wait yes I do, [math]everyone[/math] is fucking clueless
Someone had to decide what stock photo to use on this article. I wonder if it was tagged under differential equation or if they searched equation and were just lucky that it contained one.
Because mathematical-economists use lots of physical models to model junk in the economy.. Imagine that.. I had a nobel-laureate math-econ professor who is prolific in pure math, economics, and physics.. Gunduz Caginalp.
It's properly referred to as math finance.
... I hear the passengers thought he was with the Al-Gebra network - and he was holding potential weapons of math instruction.
Get out.
>calling simple harmonic oscillator 'runes'
Quantum field theory Dirac spinors or get the fuck out
I think some people are retarded.
I have no reason to believe there are non-human autonomatons walking around the place.
>that entire wikipedia page
God damn Philosophy, you're an annoying dick.
>babby's first harmonic oscillator
Lmao
this
...
you do know you are a fucktard for posting that after 41 replies, right?
>Show me your runes
The major problem with "If you see something, say something" is that a lot of the people seeing things are idiots, and the people they say it to have to react because they'll get fucking crucified if they dismiss it as silly and it later turns out to have been real.
People should be much more ashamed for how little they know about mathematics. Every single facet about a modern retard's life has depended on some rather advanced mathematics.
Point to something in your room right now that was not created with the help of mathematics.
Unless you're talking about a tampon made from the hair you collect out of the shower drain or a hand carved desk, there's fug all around you that would exist without maths.
I'm not saying everyone needs to be able to actually calculate anything, I just think there should be a more global appreciation of how important it is.
>"I like it therefore others must like it!"
How about you grow up
>liking
>appreciating
i fucking hate adv. math, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate how important it is.
thanks for the textbook strawman.
Gr8 b8 m8
Enjoy your bullshit non math degree
Ha
Pleb
> advanced math
> important
you mean to the 1% of theoretical physicists that use it?
Or are you just calling calculus advanced math?
Not even kidding
I just hate the people who say "I'm just not a math person lol" in general. At least be aware that you're a fuckibg retard.
Math doesn't take any special skill except pure logic and intelligence. If you say "I'm just not good at maths" you might as well say "I'm a fucking retard who is too lazy or too dumb to think" and you'd still sound smarter because you'd at leat appear self aware.
Fuck all the girls bullying me and laughing at me for being good at math. Fucking dumb bitches go do porn that's the only thing you're good for I swear
>on a plane coming back form an interview
>doing some calculations for a project i'm working on and writing up a technical report on plane
>guy next to me asks what i'm working on, says he's a computer engineer and doesn't recognize the math i'm doing
>mfw it's literally just algebra and calculus, trying to determine permeation rates of tritium through metals and shit
>computer engineer can't recongize algebra and calculus
i dont think he was any sort of STEMfag, because i think what he meant was i dont recognize those symbols you're using for variables
Enjoy your unemployment ya dunce
Ha!
Math major
>unemployment
Stop it user my sides
>thinking highschool calculus is Calculus
>implying math majors aren't among the lowest unemployment by majors
>implying math majors and physics majors absolutely destroy MCAT, LSAT, GMAT, and GRE scores.
>implying you're not retarded
Da hört wohl gerade einer theoretische Physik 4: Quantenmechanik.
Funniest thing I have seen all day
How do you describe your quantum states? Honest question I have only been taught Dirac notation so what is the alternative??
AMERICA
LAND OF THE BRAVE
What really pains is that people actually brag about not knowing anything about math. There is a general attitude of defiance and disdain, even among well-educated people.
You would never hear someone proudly claiming that they never read or don't give a shit about history or art.
I mean, maybe they don't, but they wouldn't brag about it, because it's unseemly. It's not so much the fact that people don't like math (to each his own), but rather the fact that it is universally ok to hate it and claim complete ignorance of it, as if it were anti-intellectual/cultural/whatever.
