What's your favourite field of physics? I always loved optics.

high energy theory
Are optics books still Newtonian drawings and all geometry and shit?
Or is it just more E&M?
Favorite?
Granular physics. All the fun of fluids and more
>Granular physics. All the fun of fluids and more
do you go to berkeley?
>Are optics books still Newtonian drawings and all geometry and shit?
For introduction pretty much, but I love that shit
I know. Me too. I remember obsessing with parabolic mirrors in geometer's sketchpad in 9th grade (which I just realized was more than 10 years ago).
Do you know of a good text on the geometry way of looking at optics?
I could barely recreate the virtual image diagrams
Nope. I'm not even in physics.
I just like fluids
Elementary particles and cosmology (for astro). Optics is pretty chill, took a class on it last year. LCDs are bomb
Hecht Optics is the best imo, gives you a lot of geometrical optics but also in later chapters develops a more rigorous mathematical treatment and teaches a lot of the theoretical basis behind most of modern optics
Fuck off chimp fag
quantum physics
mathematics
fluid mechanics all the way.
Cosmic particle physics here too. Been studying 'Limited streamer tubes' (a type of detector) lately.
Who /condensed matter/ here?
>magnetisation
>semiconductors
>phonons
>fuck ton of interesting graphs
> applying Quantum theory without spaghetti shit
> good job opportunities inside and out of academia
Particle Astrophysics. Kind of a meme-ish name, so I usually just specify "neutrino physics". Working with the IceCube project this summer, no fucking clue what I'll be doing outside of programming but I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
magnetohydrodynamics
P much anything where I can primarily use bra ket notation. Love that shit.
GR, Gauge Theory, String Theory
B/c I love geometry.
Number of memes to be posted?
Where my electromagnetic waves boys at?
>magnetohydrodynamics
here bruh
