Yea its called intermittent fasting. It's actually quite good for weight loss and generally cleansing yourself.
I used to not feel much hunger when I was a skinnyfat, nearly underweight DYEL but now that I'm more muscular and active I'm basically constantly ravenous.

I can't sleep for long periods of time and when I'm in one if those boughts I don't eat. I won't even think about it. If it lasts 3+ days there will inevitably be this moment when I realize I can't remember the last time I ate or what it was.

How often? Forever, basically. make sure you get enough calories so you won't feel like shit. Basic guideline is to go 16 without food, 8 with. Test it out for yourself. I seem to do best to only eat 15:00 to 20:00 so a 5 hour window.
I also think it's fucking great. Food, no matter what, always makes me sluggish. I basically just power through the day getting so much shit done before 15:00, have a big meal, do some light work (some vacuuming or other household chores and the likes), have a huge meal at around 19:00 and then a small dessert. It's great.
Free yourself from the woes of blood sugar instability and mood swings. Shitlord other people for wanting to eat. It's great. And after a day or two of sticking to it you wake up with so much energy.
