Crypto was something that was initially adopted by outsiders. People that big into programming and the various internet sub-cultures that ran with crypto in the early days were a very insular group. The early adopters made big money in it, but now they are struggling with using that money to change their outsider status. Being a crypto millionaire doesn't change social norms, and while you can play off certain things as eccentricities it isn't possible to play off some of the vulgarities common in their casual banter so easily.

Stereotypes are useful in the absence of other information. I think racists are often seen as idiots because they tend to insist on applying those stereotypes even on an individual level. I consider myself a reasonable "racist" because I know that black people are statistically more likely to commit crimes, so I'll be more careful around them. But when I'm interacting with an individual black guy, I can judge him by characteristics specific to him and I don't need to think of stereotypes anymore.
