Why would anyone pay $40 for this when you can get the same thing for $10 at walmart? Fucking stoopid

Because the $10 thing at wal-mart looks similar but isn't the same thing.

The yeti is an actual vacuum flask. 99% of lookalikes are not. They're just an insulated container that has a similar shape but whose insulation is nowhere near as good.

They're every bit as good.

Is there science for comparison?

youtu.be/enBQ_v3NSwM

No they're not.

Post the details of your comparison, user.

>walmart
Hello Shart!

you can make yogurt with those things. I wanna try sometime.

after heating the yeti in an oven the liquid inside was actually colder than before

What is this? Container that keeps drinks cold all day?

Because it's a status symbol.

or hot, yes

>after heating the yeti in an oven the liquid inside was actually colder than before

never learned much physics or chemistry huh?

Why would someone buy a corvette when they could buy a civic? Fucking stoopid

huh

So Americans who are perpetually complaining about Chinese knock-offs scoff at the idea of paying $40 for a product when a $10 copy is available at Wal-mart?

Burgers pls.

The name made me think of beer, you see

But a $10 copy is not available at wal-mart. A $10 lookalike that doesn't work as well is available there.

I'm literally drinking coffee out of my $10 Walmart Yeti ripoff. It works every bit as well as the Yeti ones and it IS a vacuum sealed flask. This is the exact same technology as the Yeti and keeps my coffee hot as hell for 3-4 hours at least and keeps my beer or water cold for 6-8 although I always drink whatever I have long before that. I have been asking myself and people on my campus this constantly and I just get made fun of for not having a Yeti.

Mine is the Ozark Trail one but I have the 20oz and not the 30oz. Fuck Yeti

I've got an Orca that worked like a champ this past summer. I put crushed ice from the gas station in it, and top it off as necessary.

watch the video. the ice in the cup didnt melt and therefore was able to further cool the liquid

nigger

those work about as well as yetis, yes. i would never make fun of someone based on the flask they use, but yetis have higher quality materials used in their manufacture

>not even made in the US

There is literally no reason for the retail price of these to be $40 when they are made in China, other than price gouging.

>yetis have higher quality materials used in their manufacture

According to the manufacturer.

because people buy them at that price. If you made a product that costs $3 to make and people buy for $40 no issue, would you sell it for $12 just to be nice to them? Or would you sell it for $40?

Yeah, greedy fuckers got BTFO by Walmart who are slightly less greedy fuckers.

see maybe just the plastic lid is shittier plastic idk

True, you can't have greedy fuckers without ignorant consumers.

Very very subtle Jack thread OP. Those King haters will see nothing.

If you buy a yeti you're literally only paying for a brand logo. Ozarks and Yetis are manufactured in the same plants, the only difference is which logo gets stamped on the lid.

Oh that's great because I'm in the market for a coffee mug that I can put in the fucking oven. Because that's what people do with mugs.

youtube.com/watch?v=p5-abqaKWAw

I don't really see the point in the form factor, why not just a normal vacuum bottle?

Not that a good one is terribly cheap either.

Same. Fucking. Shit.

Both keep your drinks cold for exactly the same time.

they dont though

College was fucking stupid as shit. I got my degree, but the only thing that was good about it was drinking and partying and I never got laid.

I currently have a 40 oz hydroflask wide mouth water bottle.

Is there any reason for me to get an ozark?

I was thinking about a yeti a while back but the price turned me off.

If the Ozark is the same shit I don't mind the $10. But will I use it more than the 'dro flask?

Yes they do. They are exactly the same, even as far as having interchangeable parts. Same for the koozies. I would bet money that they are made in the same factory with the only difference being the logo.

>I would bet money that they are made in the same factory with the only difference being the logo.

Unlikely, as any decent factory won't risk losing a customer like that. More likely, some other factory reverse engineered it, and are making it from thinner metal with cheaper parts.

Keep telling yourself that.

>If you buy a yeti you're literally only paying for a brand logo. Ozarks and Yetis are manufactured in the same plants

Source? My ex was an engineer of thermo-blahblah and they were constantly working on new insulation technology. When a company discovers a new formula for insulation materials, they don't just give it out to everyone, it is highly secret. If the metal of the container is made in the same place, ok I guess, but that would never mean that the insulation material is the same if one company has designed a new and improved material while the other has not. From what I heard, there were two men who created the material which is contained in YETI insulation, but they split as a team and though they created the newest most efficient material, one went to make YETI brand and the other made ARTC, or whatever they are called. THOSE two are said to be the same thing, but on the technical side, the mugs for $10 at Walmart are absolutely NOT the same as a mug which has been created with the insulation technology of a YETI or that other RTIC or whatever it is. Not everything is about a name brand, but when a particular brand actually innovates something new, it becomes EVERYTHING about that brand. Until someone steals the method, I guess. But since they can't advertise that they stole it or can't prove that they are doing as good or pretend to be better.... Originals win.

It's a vacuum flask.

>Keep telling yourself that.

This video by some fat guy shows that the WalMart cup was 1 ounce lighter then the Yeti but maintained the same temperature and did so for only $10, compared to $40.

And? The technology of the insulation materials still can be improved with updates to the creation. What are you even trying to say with your post?

That depends if Yeti even designed something, they might simply be a branding company themselves. With all the actual engineering already done before they came along, by some China factory which sells these things with custom logos.

Which seems to be the case given the performance and visual similarity of the Walmart cup.

I was wanting to buy a Yeti cup but was wondering if there any knockoff versions that are just as good if not better

>That depends if Yeti even designed something, they might simply be a branding company themselves.

True, although as pointed out it seems the Walmart version is lighter. Which suggests I am right about it being made with thinner sheet metal and not the exact same product with a different label.

The various video links in this thread seem to show that the Walmart "Ozark Trail" cup is just as good at keep stuff cold as the Yeti cup and is 4x cheaper.

>works just as well as the Yeti for only $20 (I know this because I fell for the Yeti meme before I bought a based Hydroflask)
>has a lid so you can actually do stuff with it
