What is you?

What is you?

I mean, a human is a lot of cells or his consciousness... What do you believe?

There are neurons in the heart, which is why people that get heart transplants have anecdotally gained feelings/memories/thoughts/etc of the donator.

There is an even more advanced "2nd brain" in the gut.

There is also an endocrine system that releases different hormones which affect you.

And then there's consciousness which is just, like... woah.

*to expand on that, not shitreply

This. Also, don't forget the 3rd brain inside the pineal gland.

You are a language. Or something very close to a language. It's used by your brain to write thoughts, memories and perceptions. The world is a unity, and a language is just a tool to divide it into small parts, in order to describe, communicate or store information.

And then there's people like you who got no brain at all. Humans truly are amazing

>There are neurons in the heart
Yes, to create an action potential, that's it.
>which is why people that get heart transplants have anecdotally gained feelings/memories/thoughts/etc of the donator.
lol, next you are going to say that what people see during NDE is real.
>There is an even more advanced "2nd brain" in the gut.
It's in no way close to the complexity of the brain, it's just a pretty huge network of some types of neurons. The terme "brain" is excessive.

He's not completely wrong. A rodent's pinneal gland was shown in vitro to release DMT, which is what some hypothesize(theorize?) to be released when we are born, die, and dream in REM.

Nobody absolutely knows factually.

If we're just highly evolved apes, what makes anyone think that conciousness is some immaterial magical force that can't be explained by science? The brain = conciousness no?

It's all your body. Your whole body contains information about your preferences, skills, memories etc.
And you keep changing, your body changes all the time, you can lost some of brain of other cells and you can die. Theoretically you can also copy and fuse people as well.

That's like saying "kidney = filter", it dosen't go to the details of where and how. Brain is a huge place.

see: a computer = c++ no?
a book = English no?

Because it makes people think their life has more sense.
That's how religion work to begin with.

I believe that each individuals consciousness is based off of certain genetic traits of ones parents, combined with the experiences of a person growing up in the environments it was raised in, our personalities and consciousness is mostly created through the choices and experiences we have and make. Each choice subconsciously effects our psyche turning us into the people we are today. So literally, you are not the person you were yesterday, anyway the question comes in when we try and figure out the origin of consciousness and referring to my previous statement, if we adapted physical traits from our ancestors and parents, the first human is what determined the consciousness.

Basically we cannot prove what is us. only what is most of us because we do not have the answers to all the fundamental questions that lies within explaining conciousness
