How likely is a Half-Life scenario to happen? Where Humanity is enslaved by aliens and Earth's resources are depleted?

50%. Either it happens or it doesn't.
I gave this a shot and came up with a first-order approximation of [math]\frac{g_{128}}{g_{132}}[/math] where [math]g_1 = 3 \uparrow^4 3[/math] and [math]g_n = 3 \uparrow^{g_{n-1}} 3[/math]. The derivation is too long to put in this post.
Go figure, my LaTeX worked perfectly in the preview. I guess people weren't lying when they said it was broken.
Earth's 'resources':
1. About 100 stable elements, as found anywhere in the universe.
2. An untameable species of tool-using ape that can be driven to violence over trivial matters and constantly fantasizes about killing extraterrestrials.
Highly improbable.
Improbable, an intelligent alien species would eliminate humans through any series of non-confrontal scenario and extract resources afterward. Alien armed conflict is just an anthrocentric wank scenario.
It's already happened if you exchange "aliens" for "jews"
based
it's already happening, you live on one of those planets and because they suppress your means of examining other worlds you can't gather enough information to even go guessing
To be fair the combine did "tame" most of the species that were left alive by turning them into cyborgs or whatever
pretty goddamn unlikely. If you have the technology to go from one star system to another, what do you need slaves for?
We're working on it.
>Smashing small things together
>Aliens
Ok bro
Honesly an advanced interstellar species would avoid prob avoid any such scenario just for the mere fact that they could easily get water oxygen and whatever else they want literally from any anywhere in the galaxy with ought conflict. Hell they could raid titan and get more water than there is on earth.
Aliens didn't just happen to visit Earth in HL. Everything started in a particle accelerator laboratory where things gone bad. The anomalous materials researchers were experimenting with the interaction of some outerspace crystals by bombarding them with particles and they opened a portal to somewhere thousands of lightyears away. Thats how aliens started jumping into our world.
Aliens cant invade if we detect them coming from miles away. It's only an invasion if they can just teleport right into our dimension.
>Everything started in a particle accelerator laboratory where things gone bad.
That's all made up though
It's a story
The scenario in Half Life was that we ran an experiment in an anomalous materials test chamber with a anti-mass spectrometer had an unexpected "resonance cascade" that ripped dimensional seams, or tearing the spacetime continuum. Aliens from another dimension known as Xen subsequently enter our dimension via these dimensional seams.
TL;DR it's a fucking video game
The combine are not spacefairing, they can only use portals to teleport between worlds.
For them, new planets are basically not different than what a second earth to exploit would be to exploit: a vital source of resources since we cannot access space proper.
~to us
>with the interaction of some outerspace crystals
See, the LHC doesn't bombard anything but the particles themselves. Certainly not magical outerspace crystals.
CERN admitted that the purpose of their experiment is to open a dimension to Xen and start the reign of Nihilanth, the true lord of humanity :^)

Shit thanks dude. I for one welcome our future Nihilanth overlord. You know the song that plays when you put on the suit? I'm going to be listening to that constantly.
That should play at the official CERN announcement webpage. The extended version of it.

If I ever have as much money as musk and bezos, my space program will go full on conspiracy theorist baiting mode with that shit.
Which is more likely? An alien invasion or Half Life 3?
...
Depends.
If the aliens are more advanced than us technology wise, then we're pretty boned.
If the opposite is true, and we had all countries work together to fight back (we xcom nao) then we should be okay.
If humanity is enslaved, there will be rebellions, but it's highly likely that they'll fail.
