Let me hear both sides.
Free Will VS Determinism
The way I see it is that humans are just one big chemical equation and nothing else or math equation (you get the point).
I think therefore I am.
>he poasted it, again
This. But I still need to believe in a pseudo "free will". Which consists in being less impressionable against any source of stimulation.
Free will doesn't even fucking matter either way.
>*strokes neckbeard*
how so ?
> agnostics and theists are deluding themselves.
fuck man. that's pretty mean.
How do you go about differentiating an action done by free will and a determined one? I don't think you can, really. So functionally, they're the same.
But it's true. Love is very important in our lives.
/thread
There is no distinction, unless you believe in souls or something.
assuming free will doesn't exist, what is life, why does it exist, and why are life forms getting progressively more complex?
How does life getting more complex relate to free will ?
Because complexity organisms are more fit for their environment
My point exactly.
Evolution.
"Someone once asked me,
Why do you believe in free will?
I replied,
Because I cannot choose to do otherwise."
– James Champagne
I thought it was Hitchens. I guess he was quoting.
That's pseudo free will
In the words of doctor who.
Timey Wimey stuff with fixed points in time intermitted by free will.
>Bergoglio
>symbol of Christianity
>false dichotomy
The answer is quantum randomness, invalidating both.
This dog is cancer. Don't post it again.
> randomness meme
nothing is random popsci kid
I haven't heard of a single logically viable premise for free will.
Present one and then we will discuss it.
OP's image is interesting, since free will can't exist of an all knowing deity does too.
>>false dichotomy
True, but not the way you see it.
As long as I'm making the decisions, without EXTERNAL constraint, I have free will.
All objections to free will are something like this:
>it's not you making the decisions, it's your genetic predispositions
>it's not you making the decisions, it's the sum of your life experiences
>it's not you making the decisions, it's your subconscious
>it's not you making the decisions, it's your brain
>it's not you making the decisions, it's the atoms in your head
...except that all these things are a part of who I am.
>Let me hear both sides.
What "sides"? They don't conflict.
