ITT: Engineers

ITT: Engineers

p-please let me suck your dick ..

Engineers can do photosynthesis?

Hey guys, I contribute to society on a daily basis and make bank doing it.

*I fuck shit up for society on a daily basis

Software engineers are better...

Somewhere, an environmental engineer is having a heart attack

Daily reminder that scientists imagine a better world, and engineers create it.

I'm pretty sure I could engineer a skimmer to collect the algae.

Then compost the algae to reclaim the nitrogen and phosphor.

scientist are just profesionnal autists that can do shit other that calculate and call themselves better than other majors because they feel insecure. Try to open your mind just a little bit and get some friends, fucking loser.

That said I'm a scientific, but I still respect engineers.

Any other political science bros out there?

Electrical Engineering master race
Though aeronautical engineering is up there too.

>political science
>Actual science
pick one

what's the difference?

is National Socialist German Workers' Party socialist?

Yes.

Of course it is. It has socialist in the name, just like th democratic republic if congo and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

No

Master-race aeronautical engineer signing in

Aerospace engineering is terrible, the old people are decrepit and universities are popping autists and retards into the field. For a "high-technology" field, it's 40 years behind automotive.

Daily reminder that majoring in engineering is 95% of the time sentencing yourself to a small office with a couple other autistic assholes who circle jerk over their engineering degrees (yes I have friends that did engineering and they say it's a real thing the students do) while you brainstorm a way to make sure your department is useful and worth the assloads of money your boss is paying you when you defend your job during annual reviews.

It's.a fucking job. No loyalty to companies. They don't give a shit about you

Sounds pretty comfy 2bh

are there no mods in this piece of shit board that can delete these idiotic fucking threads

...

Newfag on this board.

>Aeronautical engineering major

Why all the hate ? Whats wrong with engineers ?

Personally I would rather an hero then pursue a phd in actual science. That must be boring as hell. To each his own.

>Engineers

Engineer thread?

>what's wrong with engineers

They pretend they're scientists

>post yfw you see engineers blowing each other in the uni bathroom

>Update

You do realise that one without the other wouldn't work? So stop being a pretentious little cunt and get off your high horse. And no, I'm not even an engineer. I want to become a physicist.

>This level of trolling

Do you turn into a fag when you start studying engineering or do only fags study engineering?
Can't tell which one it is.

lel.

kek

>Having the choice of lavazza over starshit
Max comfy

Holy kek

Only if you study mechanical or computer engineering.

>it's a Veeky Forums pretends that there aren't engineers who do research episode

Your daily reminder that Civil Engineers have the best job security of all the lot

no.
all engineers are homosexuals
there are many academical papers written on the subject.
My favorite is Windlark's 2002 paper, unusual rituals in engineering student communities in the US.

>implying not everyone on Veeky Forums is an engineer or an engineering student

Science is just a meme.

Spotted the Pajeet.
Take another English booster course mate.

I doubt that, Software Engineers likely do.
>inb4 software engineers aren't engineers

First one was funny, the other ones were "lol ur gay" trash. Out of the million things to make fun of, why just "ur gay"? We can do better than this.

...

A friend in the math department told me he wanted to be an engineer.

I told him I was very proud of his choice, not everyone is brave enough to leave the closet

>hey guys I make shit that only works half the time and get paid an upper middle class salary
Congrats, you should've stuck to sucking dick.

Is this an epic new copypasta

well played

Engineers are like the classic mad scientist who makes weird inventions though.

Engineers are those who contribute to a large project by working on smaller things. The inventors/mad scientists in popular culture are, most of the time scientists that work on a small project that is new and experimental and they "succeed". Engineers don't do that, even when they do research.

Why is Veeky Forums so homophobic towards making money?

They just hate us cause they ain't us.

bullying scientists is fun but I really just want to tickle their feet 2bh

Wow, your car, air conditioning, refrigerator, computer, bicycle, coffee machine, television, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, and every other modern convenience only work half the time? Half of the flights you've been on have crashed? Half the trains you've been on have derailed?
Sounds like it's not the engineer's problem...

>homophobic towards making money

its time to admit what people have been afraid to say out loud for a while now: doing a BA is harder than doing a bsc doing a BA is really, really hard. Its much Harder in fact, than studying maths, For starters,we cant copy each others answers like you do in your coursework, and once you learn something uve learnt it – it’s not so easy for us. we have to chug a bottle of wine and weep over Sparknotes very basic summaries before we can even fathom choosing our essay titles, let alone writing out introductions. BS students can just Google their answers or ask matt on the boys Whatsapp what he got for question 1a We get given the choice to write our own essay title too – isit some sort of reverse psychology where our tutors want us to write an essay title to show autonomy or will they take offence if we dont pick one of theirs It’s much harder than finding out what 'x' is when it comes to coursework, ure always going to get higher than ull come back with a smarmy 90% and we can tell you think our hard earned 71% is rubbish, but it’s all relative you may have beaten us by 19% but let’s be honest: it’s not really your own work In BA we have to go and right arguments. We have to actually form ideas out of words, and do so in a coherent and convincing way. If our marker is in a bad mood because his cat’s shit on his first edition of oliver twist we wont know about it, but our grades might be lower. Your marker, on the other hand, cant begrudge you for regurgitating a mathematics equation – two plus two will always equal four Its obvious that bSc students think BA students want to be them. You ask us: “What’s the point to your degree The answer is quite honestly is that you’re intimidated by us. So don’t think we want to be you just because we skim past your inaccuracies which we get bang on point everyday – itsharder to be a BA student because people take humanitis for granted but think that being skilled at science is a gift.

I don't think homophobic means what you think it means

>Copying from an article.

Get out, you have your own board. I hate these /hm/ raids.

I'm an Engineer and I think Physics and Maths are superior

>I'm an Mathematical Physicist and I think Engineers are superior

(you)

>TFW structural engineer
>Mfw I get a bonus from the company on project completion and usually a gift from a the client
>Literally an extra wad of cash ~£1k for designing a glass skylight
>Pulled a bunch of formulae from Roark and applied the load
>Doubled the factored loads cus glass innit
>Didn't even value engineer it with FE
>We even have a specification template that I just added the clients name to

Kekkles

Forgot to add.
>I'm 24 and not even professionally qualified

how do I be a structural engineer

10/10

A good structural engineer:
>Degree in civils or straight structural....duh
>Learn your mechanics
>Button down your frame analysis and general theory
>Virtual work etc.
>It's more important that you learn to intuitively understand how structures behave under loading - I.e. how things will deform and be stressed without looking at any numbers
>Learn to manage people
>Don't be an autist
>Automate boring tasks by learning to program
>Read
>Read
>Read

When I say read, I mean everything from books about the history of the post office, to analysis manuals, to 'babbys first computer science' and fucking torque wrench manuals.

You'll be surprised what you can pull out of your arse to influence your work.

Others will also be surprised when you pull out a bit of information about an abandoned tunnel used to transport fucking parcels under central London that just happens to run right under your screw pile foundations for a multi story tower.

True story.

I'd like any more suggestions for the read read read part, anything relevant or miscellaneous

if not, thank you for the reply
I ask questions vague like that because Veeky Forums gives the best answers and you didn't disappoint

You work in London?

Where abouts?

>le lenny face

first year aeronautical engineering dreamer more like lol

thank you for this

Misc.

People don't read enough. Read anything you find interesting, and some stuff you don't find interesting.

I read mainly non fiction personally.

Let me put it this way, the majority of what people comment on regarding my life is related to the fact that I don't watch TV.
>Omg did you watch GoT
>No I don't wtch TV, sorry
>Omg what do you even do with your time

I read books you twat

Etc.

>You work in London?
Yes

>Where abouts?
No

They earn more money with their degree using the discoveries of scientists. Success breeds jealousy.

Basically this.

There's no money in discovery without harnessing the power of said discovery.

E.g. looking at the moon is great. Analysing samples is great too. But that nigga who mines the moon is going to be fucking rich as fuq.

i heared they are edible
and im sure chinaman will create a recipe

Yes

If you believe in helping out your fellow country men who can't live a decent life, then that is socialism

Nothing to do with left or right wing

because of the way unions and wages work, you will make less on a per hour basis as an engineer than you will as a mechanic or other technical trade.

>implying you aren't going to be working more than 50 hours a week as a brand new engineer

unless you are really talented and/or catch a lucky break, most of the graduating engineers are going to be cubicle monkeys for the first 3-5 years making around 65k$. whoop de fucking doo. you smug faggots with 4.0 GPA's best realize that good grades aren't enough anymore. you better have a goddamn portfolio with certifications and work samples as well as some volunteer work and side projects.

woe unto you if you have a summer without an internship.

ebin

>as well as some volunteer work
>a summer without an internship.

Agreed with all except this. Volunteer work won't do anything for an engineer. Also, one or two summers with an internship is enough.

>Volunteer work won't do anything for an engineer.

for what you have to put into it? not really. its one afternoon and you can put it on your resume for the rest of the year and then some. a letter of thanks from a charitable organization looks good in the above mentioned portfolio.

its along the same lines as joining a professional organization. its like 30$ for a yearly membership and they invite you to dinners and have a decent newsletter. you can join on the internet right now in 5 minutes.

Depends on the volunteer work.
